I disagree about the lack of garbage bins. They were everywhere. People just can't be fucking bothered to throw their stuff away. You may be right. It might also be that the bins are easier to spot t coachella. Coachella also has workers picking up garbage throughout the day. I don't think i saw that at Sasquatch. Probably hard to get people to do that from a travel standpoint. Yet they somehow picked up 100,000 glowsticks Sunday morning.

I catch myself snapping my fingers along to the music during shows. Ultra fucking dorky but at least it's quiet. Better than being a lead singer and having shoulder epilepsy.

Yeah, I brought way too much shit this year, not knowing what to expect. That is why I'm 98% sure I will fly this year and rent a car. I can survive on basically nothing at Coachella, other than a tent and sleeping bag. The shade was the biggest reason I asked about any locals going. If this camping thing is going to happen, we should keep a roll call of who is bringing cars, chairs, and shade, so those wanting a ride know who to contact. This list will be much more comprehensive in about six months, but for those freeking out about rides, this is what I've gathered: Car Camping passes: wompwomp knowidyuh Stamper/Cat? Cars: wompwomp knowidyuh Stamper/Cat Chairs: Shade: We should keep this updated as we go, including which airport everyone is flying into. We should all assume we will get to the campground Thursday evening, unless anyone is against that proposition. Hey Know, I think I am planning on making the trip next year, and would love to join all of you peeps. I will be flying down, likely with minimal gear. For anyone in the Vancouver/Seattle, Allegiant Air flies out of Bellingham direct to Palm Springs, Ca. If the dates co-ordinate (their schedule is not up yet for next April), I would love to be one of the people to get on that flight, as they are usually super cheap and convenient.

I'm extremely surprized the Citizen Kane .gif hasn't been posted yet. Perhaps it's simply too obvious.

This is fair, I checked the wiki's for both groups and I guess it's not like they came out of nowhere. Foster the People were much more annoying to me because they were booked for all these music festivals when they had like one song total. They are just a clear example of a major label wanting a band that sounds like MGMT before MGMT went off the rails. I completely agree, I just think they're rise to fame is so predictable it's boring. Major Label pushes out a band that is an mgmt ripoff without any of the pretentiousness and gets all the radio stations to play it. I like to think that major labels don't have the pull they used to but bands like this remind you of how powerful they still are Cbats, I recently listened to an interivew with Foster the People, and based on their account, their rise to fame did not have anything to do with a major label. From what they said, they were simply a part-time band that realeased pumped up kicks on their myspace page, and it got enough hits from the right people that it reached a tipping point (thanks Malcolm Gladwell). They started seeing more and more people that they didn't know coming to their shows, and so they thought if they were to make a run for it, they'd better start practising more. So, I knew they were not going to live up to the hype that was caused by pumped up kicks. They have not been around long enough to really hazve their shit together yet. But I do not think it has much to do with their Major Label (or at least it didnt in the beginning).

Biggest disappointment of the weekend: Bassnectar It was my fifth time seeing Lorin perform and also the most underwhelming. The glowruption was glow-tacular, but the music wasn't. I know he had sound issues that probably weren't his fault but his music wasn't loud enough. Couldn't even feel the bass... His set at outside lands last year was booked at 2 pm, had a 15 minute power-outage, and was still leagues better than his sasquatch performance. can't wait to see him at a good performance...

I literally ate the size of a nickle. That means LACED. Stay away from the pot brownies. I am not sure how many times I have said that in this board. Of course people still get too fucked up every year on them; including my neighbours this year. I guess I'll have to say it more often next year.

Well folks I off to Nashville tonight for Bonnaroo and I can't even tell you how bummed I am that I can't stay around and enjoy this post-Sasquatch cigarette with you all! As fun as Bonnaroo will be I don't think it will even compare to re-living Sasquatch, never mind Sasquatch itself. Take care everybody and I'll see you(r avatars) soon! Friendly D. Dude, the partying never stops for ya!!! Have a blast my brother is going to be there, but he looks nothing like me, so no bother pointing him out. Looking forward to a trip report when you get back!

Oh yeah, and that's where we ran into B-Rad! Dude's eyes are like four different colors. Just a ridiculously nice guy. He gave me a Canadian cigarette. I smoked it. It was vile, but I loved it. So much of this I joyously laughed at. I think I may have mentioned it before, but you and your wife are fantastic people as well!!! The pictures in the other thread look awesome FYI, the "candy" you distributed came in particularly handy during Ratatat. Unlimited thanks for that. And Belmont's are like euphoric flavour country, not vile

If Abominable is being for serious then that is hilarious. Looks like you should take a lesson from Cat on how to keep your wife in check; you may yet make it back for next year.

I feel like White Denim is not getting its due. Did anyone see that set? Extremely tight band - as a mediocre guitar player watching their chords progressions, changed time signatures, interplay of the two guitars, and perfect metronomy of the drums, it was awesome to see. They must practice a tonne.
To me it was the best performance of the weekend. Maybe not my favorite performance, but definitely the one where the band got the most out of the constraints of a four piece act.

Brad that sounds like nothing but awesome times! Get out of here with your crowd surfin' positivity and sweet bands. At least tell us your South African friend had bad breath, or that some dude gave you a charlie horse while crowd surfin', or change "not disappointed" to "disappointed". I'm just failing to see the hate here. PS - I went to get food at the Yeti and wound up catching a bunch of The Thermals because they were AWESOME!!!!!!! But the chicken strips sucked!!!! Well actually, no they didn't, not at all. Anyone else have them? Great peppery crispy crunch! Damn, Brad is right. It's tough to find the hate at Sasquatch. Oh wait, DFA 1979. Haaaaaaaaaated it! Friendly D, I think say you may have misinterpreted my post - I had a fantastic time at the Thermals, they were one of my top ten performances. I brought it up in this thread (which maybe I shouldn't have) as ComesWithA Sword mentioned them before me. I had to stay the whole set as I would not let myself miss out on the Thermals, and I was aboslutely correct in staying and Crowdsurfing!!!! I realized quickly I am just a little too heavy to crowdsurf like when I was 17; that is why I wouldnt do it again If I had disappointments, I would say Foster the People, S.Carey was boring, and I was admittedly disappointed my the Flaming Lips. They were the number 1 band I went to see, so it may have been hard to live up to those expectations.

So glad I stayed for all of the Thermals. It was a very tough call. CWAS, I was right in the middle of this as well...I had never seen them before, so I was overdue and had to stay the whole set. I was not disappointed. Met a South African dude there and partied with him and his crew for a bunch of different sets all weekend. Haha, come to think of it, I actually crowd surfed at the Thermals for, like the first time in 12 years. And probably for the last time, too.

It's stories like this that kinda freak me out and give me a slap back to reality. If you are a Canadian Citizen I would seriously (and I mean seriously) consult a lawyer about your options here. You made it back to Canada, and if you are charged in the U.S. (i.e. found guilty), it will obviously bring consequences (such as not being allowed back into the U.S.). You may have already done some research, but here is some good starting info: forum.freeadvice.com/drug-charges-28/possession-marijuana-paraphenila-wa-state-426136.htmlFortunately it looks as though WA may have decriminalized small amounts of Marijuana possession a couple of years back. Read more here: stopthedrugwar.org/chronicle/2009/feb/20/marijuana_washington_state_decriMy job pretty much requires me to go to the US a bunch. If I were ever be arrested and prevented from entering, I'd be up shit creek. I hope you are doing your due diligence

I am not all that religious so it's a little disappointing they put the first installment the weekend after Easter. Free vacation days used for Coachella would have worked out splendidly.
In any case, I may pick up my ticket right away; however it may be near impossible to sell if I get stuck...

2012 may have to be the year I finally hit up Coachella. I had too much fun with the EDM this year at Sasquatch to not enjoy Coachella. Especially if y'all are gonna be there.
