Some of them probably are. They'll probably try to spoil my fun too.

I would be so buttdevastated if a night was Lorde, Ellie Goulding and Foster the People and the dance tent had like some Tiesto-approved pre-made set bro. If Ellie and QOTSA switch places you aren't far off of Saturday at Coachella. Thankfully Coachella has more than 4 stages.

Man, if you're a student tickets were 18 fucking dollars.
How the hell did they pull this off? Even if they sold 30,000 tickets at $25 a piece (that day sold out, and I have no idea what the capacity is), that hardly sounds like enough to cover the appearance fees for the bands let alone all the other costs that go along with a festival.

This is what worries me. Not so much Arcade Fire, that's a good booking for this festival, but the limited knowledge I have of Bruno Mars and his fans makes me think that the crowd would make me want to take acid, kill someone and bury them in the forest.

All three (or four, I guess) are three day festivals with capacity between 30,000 and 40,000. Capacity at the Gorge is only around 23,000, but I get what you're saying. Last year's Sasquatch had a capacity of 32,000 I believe. The Gorge has something like a 23000 person capacity for single shows, but the extra stages bring that number up quite a bit.

Well, despite having to work early tomorrow, I'm going to DARKSIDE tonight.
Why do I do these things to myself?

Sasquatch will probably have the best of the lineups, especially a better undercard, but not having to travel across the border and pay less is a deal breaker for me and a lot of other people I know. It all depends on the lineups. It will be interesting to see what the lineups look like. All three (or four, I guess) are three day festivals with capacity between 30,000 and 40,000. Squamish has never sold more than ~15000 tickets, Pemberton is basically a brand new festival (but if I recall correctly it did JUST sell out it's 40,000 tickets in 2008) and Sasquatch is doubling itself, which could hurt attendance each weekend. There is little question that Sasquatch will have the best undercard, but Squamish and Pemberton could shoot for the moon on headliners to get that wow factor. I'm guessing Pemberton has a huge headliner that won't be at Squamish or Sasquatch. Maybe Tool, but I sorta hope not since I don't plan on attending Pemberton right now and that would almost force me to go. If Squamish really does have Arcade Fire and Bruno Mars then they'll draw a pretty big crowd, despite pissing off long time attendees (like myself). All in all it's going to be an interesting few weeks when these lineups come out, and my general expectation is that none of them end up selling out because people only have so much time and money to attend music festivals. I'm glad I know some people going to each of these festivals so that if I decide to be a total moron and actually go to all of them (along with both Coachellas) then there will be someone there to call an ambulance when I inevitably pass out from exhaustion.

The post also says more dates may be added... but I would expect those in March, not May or July. **edit** No it doesn't... wishful thinking... I think you just proved yourself wrong.

I'm sure they'll be at Squamish, it's going to be ok. Arcade Fire, Tool, Outkast.
Eat shit Coachella (despite the fact that I'm going to both weekends).

MAYSQUATCH CONFIRMED!
Edit: For serious, the fact that they aren't announcing north of Portland makes me fairly sure they will play a Sasquatch, Pemberton or Squamish. This makes me very happy. However, if they play Pemberton that means I have to go to Pemberton.

www.fosterthepeople.com/us/newsCount foster the people and st Lucia in for maysquatch? Foster the people may be a sub headliner or late night at the big foot stage Shit, they will sub headline at least. They're playing a ~3000 person venue in Vancouver. That's the same sized venue that Jack White, Bonny Bear, Death Cab (among other Sasquatch headliners) play when they come here. Dare I say they might be the laziest headliner booking that Sasquatch has seen since Pretty Lights.

The Alabama Shakes would not headline Sasquatch. The National... maybe. Modest Mouse did because they are from the area and have a bigger following out here.
It's a pretty good lineup but Sasquatch will have a much fuller lineup than this. For $150 though, I'd go if I lived close by.

So, I just noticed Jake Bugg skips Seattle on his tour next week. That's a pretty strong indication, no?

I'll look into those.
I love the Yuma tent suggestions since I spent all of 10 minutes in there last year. Any excuse to hang out in an air conditioned tent in the day (cause, you know, I'm Canadian and Coachella is hot) and learn more about DJs I don't know much about sounds like a good idea.
I'll totally go to Muse with you Pea, I've never seen them and I hear good things about their live show.

I've been working my way through the lineup and I have some questions.
1. Someone give me a starting point for the Replacements please. 2. Who's Zedd? Is he just another typical 'wait for the drop' dude? He's pretty high up on the lineup and I know nothing about him. 3. Almost everything in the last 3 lines of Friday I know nothing about (exceptions: Kate Nash, ZZ Ward, Anti Flag, Wye Oak), what am I missing in there? 4. Starting point for Pet Shop Boys? 5. Lower line recommendations for Sunday? I have to fill 2 days with that lineup, but I'll probably just end up seeing Beck, NMH and STRFKR twice at this point.

Exactly that, it's basically just 60 minutes of 'Barbie Girl' remixes.

It was Bumblebee, who seems to pretend to know things. I'm not sure if she(?) has any inside sources, but that claim was made weeks ago and his new tour dates seem to match up pretty well with that.
Aug. 5 Calgary, AB Scotiabank Saddledome
Aug. 9 George, WA, The Gorge Amphitheater
Aug. 11 Eugene, OR Matthew Knight Arena
Squamish is the 8th-10th. It makes very little sense to go Calgary - Gorge without hitting Vancouver in that 4 day gap. It's basically the opposite of what Arcade Fire is doing.

Seems like the new stage is where D9 was last year? It's a little hard to work that out.
I'm not really too worried about being able to get into the other camps. Technically last year we weren't allowed to go to D9 and the D9ers weren't allowed to come to glamping, but it didn't really stop us at all.
