I just got this on vinyl in the mail last week and have been playing the shit out of it... Spiritualized may be my most anticipated band this year! (probably because I was late to the game on them though.. ) late to the game or not, spiritualized doesn't come around here very often, so you're not the only one really looking forward to this set. I've been a fan for a long time and never seen them live. the royal albert hall double disc is the closest I've come...

The D vs. St. Vincent/Tune-yards is nearly as bad as The D vs. Spiritualized/Mogwai. Everything sucks! That would be so horrible. I love the D, but I'm just meow warming up to St. Vincent and would love to see her live. c'mon you guys, St Vincent/Tune-Yards is on Saturday. I'm saying the D plays on Sunday, as in conflicting with what could be Little Dragon/Wild Flag or maybe Walkmen, which I am totally cool with. and by the way Scough, St Vincent is an incredible performer, I would recommend skipping the end of the Shins/beginning of Jack White (or pretty much anything) to see her, no question.

Are dum dum girls that high on the lineup? I would basically switch them with alabama shakes Yeah, they are billed a lot higher than the near-the-bottom Alabama Shakes. are you basing that off of the poster? because the lineup page on the website has Alabama Shakes just ahead of the Dum Dums. (the lineup page has undergone a slow evolution since the announcement. the poster, obviously, remains unchanged.) this is, of course, pointless speculation, there is often significant variation between the actual schedule and the lineup, especially when you're talking about second stage.

If Mogwai conflicts with The D I am going to lose my shit. here's a theory: Tenacious plays Sunday. why this doesn't make sense: • Beirut // Tenacious D // Bon Iver is a bit weird. • the lineup page on the official website is neatly organized into four columns. assuming each row (at least near the top) will be evenly distributed amongst the four days, the previously stated "process of elimination" idea carries some water. why this does make sense: • the last few years, Sunday has had essentially dual headliners 2009: Janes Addiction // NIN; 2010: Pavement // Massive Attack; 2011: Flaming Lips // Modest Mouse. Tenacious would fill this role, Beirut does not. • Beirut's whole vibe is a questionable sub-headliner (I love them, but pairing them directly with Bon Iver = sleepytime sunday). • this would eliminate a potential Spiritualized vs Tenacious conflict. (admittedly, this is more personal than logical, but Sasquatch has been remarkably good in the past at avoiding painful conflicts. the D vs spiritualized would immediately jump to the top of my all-time worst squatch conflict list)

I do: move St Vincent to the mainstage where she belongs. "Headlining" the Bigfoot is usually a higher ranking than probably at least the first half of the day on the Sasquatch stage, if that's what you're complaining about. no, I get that. what I want (not complaining, just sayin') is the epic grandeur of the gorge as the backdrop for St Vincent's incredible live show. I don't care what "ranking" she gets. if you don't change the current lineup, she'd probably play at 4 or 5, aka in the second half of the day. oh, and it would be AWESOME. closing the second stage would also be awesome, just maybe not caps lock-worthy. but definitely worth skipping some of the Shins/Jack White for.

homepage meow says:
Due to high demand for the 4 day passes, there is presently no plan to sell single day tickets to this year's Sasquatch Festival.
so they'll probably be sold out by the end of the week. get 'em now, kids! (or wait until the week before when they mysteriously put a bunch more on sale without announcing anything like they do every year)

I think someone may have said this on another thread somewhere, but this year's wookie stage lineup has got to be the best ever. If by Wookie you mean Bigfoot, then yes I said that. The Roots, Explosions in the Sky, Mogwai, St. Vincent, Little Dragon, Tune-yards, Spiritualized, Kurt Vile, Cloud Cult...fucking stacked I say! It's just too bad somebody's got to play during The D. oh yeah! I miss the wookie. I could see the D headlining monday (call me crazy) and if that list bort is compiling is remotely correct they could conflict with Mogwai and/or Spiritualized. which would be brutal. or say they're on Saturday before Jack White (think about it -- Jack White & Jack Black, together at last!) then you could have the D up against St Vincent/Tune-Yards... ...of course speculation like that at this point is beyond ludicrous, point is there will be difficult decisions to be made this year because the wookiefoot lineup is so damn awesome.

I think someone may have said this on another thread somewhere, but this year's wookie stage lineup has got to be the best ever. I'm actually pretty into the headliners this year, but bands like St Vincent, Tune-Yards, Spiritualized, Mogwai, Explosions, Shabazz - not to mention the fucking Roots!!! - might force me to skip out on some Jack White, Shins or maybe even Beck.
front runners for show of the weekend: St Vincent - I actually hope they move her to the mainstage because that would be beautiful Joy Formidable - the gorge will make their sound even more epic if Spiritualized were on the mainstage they would be on this list (have I mentioned that I really like the mainstage?)
also unmissable: Bon Iver Tenacious D all those wookie bands I listed above Girl Talk War on Drugs
best early-afternoon show: Grouplove on the mainstage - they're gonna throw down just like Head and the Heart did last year, just hope it's not on Friday (when no one's there) or Monday (when it hurts to be alive)

Electronic Friday is a classically terrible idea. There's three more days of festival left after that, for chrissakes. totally agree Monday makes the most sense to me - just have a total blowout to end the weekend. as I always say, fuck Tuesday.

I wouldn't worry too much about the bro count, bro. Uhh, have you ever been to Sasquatch? The Bro Contingent not only seems entirely capable of fucking up the vibe, they seem intent on it. never happens to me, but now that I've said that some bro will probably spill beer all over me right when Bon Iver hits the stage. seriously, you have issues with the sasquatch crowds? I feel like people generally are pretty awesome and get way more into the music, and it's one of my favorite things about the whole deal. and yes, I'm speaking from a wealth of sasquatchsperience.

Shows are a lot more enjoyable when the crowd is full of people you would probably get along with in normal life. fascist! seriously though, one of the reasons I love sasquatch so much is that the crowds are the best and the energy is amazing. it's probably at least partly the opposite of that free show thing you were talking about - it's so fucking expensive now that people are only there if they actually give a shit and want to enjoy themselves. so I wouldn't worry too much about the bro count, bro.

unfortunately Built to Spill is a pretty big name to have as a late add. I can't remember sasquatch ever having a late add that big, definitely not in the days of assured sellouts (as this one will be). They Might Be Giants were a late add in 2010, and I'd go out on a limb and say that they are of roughly equal popularity to Built to Spill. right, forgot about them. I'd say BtS is bigger though. your limb is shaky, I wouldn't go out there. especially if the new album is really good.

Pitpat, why are you disappointed about a band being there? Who cares if they are there or not, it's not like you have to see them? For the record I am psyched about Silversun, they are going to fucking rock could be a better band.

I'm a little bit. Well not really pissed. Just more like, "aww, too bad they aren't there." The only thing I'm slightly pissed about is no BTS but honestly, I wasn't really expecting it. WU LYF and Youth Lagoon could be adds. last year it was totally obvious that Wavves was gonna be there, and then they weren't on the initial lineup. a month or so later, they were added. unfortunately Built to Spill is a pretty big name to have as a late add. I can't remember sasquatch ever having a late add that big, definitely not in the days of assured sellouts (as this one will be).

totally psyched about: Tenacious D!!! The Roots Joy Formidable Beirut
expected but still psyched about: St Vincent Tune-Yards Spiritualized Bon Iver War On Drugs
disappointed by: Silversun Pickups excessively high billing of Head and the Heart lack of either Polyphonic Spree or Edward Sharpe (where shall the hippies dance?)
overall: FUCK YEAH. gonna be a good squatch.

pretty lights with girl talk opening on friday night makes too much sense for it not to happen. Pretty Lights is listed fourth on the poster, he's not playing a late night set could still be a late-night. bassnectar was pretty high on the lineup last year. I still can't get the official website to load... also, tune-yards is opening for st vincent, in cali somewhere in between the coachellas.

apparently a video of Jack Black riding a Sasquatch through a forest was just shown at the launch party, hence the Tenacious D post That could just be them showing the Sasquatch scene from the moving since it's Sasquatch and all that. But Tenacious D does have a new album coming out and they said they would be touring the US soon... SO FUCK YEAH. that would be an epic misdirection, but I wouldn't put it past the wily sasquatch! sweet ustream guys! #occupysasquatchlineupannouncementparty
