This isn't specific to flank steak either. Many less-tender cuts of beef can be made awesome by marinating and / or careful stewing / braising.
As an aside, if you want a low-fat but effective base for a marinade try either low fat yogurt or (even better) buttermilk.

Yeah, but I bet we could have got the same location by showing up an hour later and just all 7 of us lining up in the same line when they opened a new line up.
I don't know that showing up prior to 9 actually made a difference; I think showing up before 10 or 10:30 would have had much the same result.

I actually got over my cough pretty quickly for whatever reason. Way faster than last year, despite the dust factor. And yeah, as for car searches, we got off pretty easily too. They didn't open my backpack, didn't open the cooler, and seemed to really not care. To echo Pea, we were super cooperative and started pulling shit out of the car without even being asked. The one guy actually told me to stop emptying out the back seat since he was sure it was cool. The girl in front of us didn't even get searched. They asked her, "are you by yourself?" to which she said "yep" and they just waved her through.
If I noticed any pattern, it was college bros in pickup trucks that were getting their shit torn apart and anyone who was behaving normally, was cooperative, and looked like they were at least 25 got a lot less attention.
I'm definitely down for camping again next year, though maybe we should plan for 1-2 hours later as an arrival time (ie get to the fest between 9 and 10).

So when you make raspberry syrup, after you strain out all the seeds and solids you're left with what looks like raspberry jam albeit with about 1,000,000% more seeds. Seemed like a shame to let it go to waste, so I ate it. It tasted like raspberry jam too, unsurprisingly. With extra fiber.

Bear Republic Racer 5 IPA <3 I had never tried this before moving to San Diego, and now it's one of my go-to IPAs. Easy to find, relatively inexpensive, and delicious.

Yeah I know it's a new venue, but I'm willing to risk it. The DoLab usually manages to do at least a decent job.

I've bought and sold lots of stuff on Kijiji too, but never event tickets. It's fine for physical items when it's easy to verify (eg: I'm selling a BBQ, people can come and look at it and see it works, then they give me money and I help them load it in their truck). Tickets? I'm always super leery if I didn't buy it myself directly from the source. I've seen a number of scalping deals go bad. DON'T BUY TICKETS FROM SCALPERS KIDS. And if you buy tickets at or below face from people selling, try to verify any way you can that the tickets are legit.

They're saying April for the lineup. It looks solid based on the last 2 years. Thinking I'll wait for the lineup and hope it doesn't sell out

I'm very excited to meet Stamper and Cat for the first time. Me as well. I'm don't remember if I met Cat and Stamper at Sasquatch or not. My apologies if so - my facial recognition skills generally suck, and they're even worse if I've been drinking. No chance. I'm easily the lamest regular on the board.

Attention Shax: We need to plan some serious eats for your visit in April. Let me know what you want to cook and I'll figure out where to get the ingredients if I don't already know.

That works for me. You and Lahey are on "keep J-Dawg awake" duty for the drive though. Which means you guys need to pick out some good music. The car has a USB / iPod connector.

Since J-Dawg is a little out of the Facebook loop, I f.igure I'll bring the meetup conversation into this thread since we're just a little over two weeks out (TWO FUCKING WEEKS!!!). It sounds like the collective is interested in all camping together and entering the campground as early as possible on Thursday. I believe we've settled on a meetup time of 7:30-8am somewhere in Indio. Have we settled on a location yet? Rather than that, just PM me your facebook name so I can find you / the group.

Has anyone seen POD live before? I may have to check that out at the Do Lab if it doesn't conflict.

Don't waste your time on Bingo Players. Saw them last year in Edmonton with Souly, very forgettable house DJs. See someone else instead.

Short Rib Beef Bourguignon Seared some beef short ribs with duck fat in the french oven. Then softened some carrots, shallots, beets and garlic. Added a shit tonne of Bordeaux wine, thyme, bay leaves, salt and pepper. Let that simmer at a low heat in the oven for a few hours. Then served it on some mashed potatoes served with some carrots I stewed in the bourguignon sauce. Finally topped with some balsamic caramelized onions. Sounds dee-lish. Also, I have the same placemats but in a different color (beige/brown). Who knew.

Awesome, thank you! I'm going to be scouring amazon (as soon as I have money) to get lights for the camp for porpoises of a) not tripping, and b) finding my tent at high levels of intoxication. I think I'll probably over-prepare this year as far as securing the thing. Honestly I foresee us using bungee cords but in entirely irrelevant ways, and taking the canopy cover off (while a hassle) might just be the saving grace. Target usually has a selection of inexpensive camp lights, although quality can be uneven sometimes. If you take the canopy off your shelter before you go in for the day, and leave the frame standing, it will be fine.

If you're in general and some people in your group concerned about the noise level at night / getting enough sleep, head to your local hardware store and buy some industrial foam earplugs. The kind you want are the cylindrical / bullet shaped ones, they will stay in your ears while you're sleeping. Make sure to buy enough (1 pair per person per night, DO NOT REUSE THEM). They're very very inexpensive.
I'm an old dude (30+) and I had no issues with general camping at Sasquatch. Camping is at least 25-40% of the fun for me.
Party when you feel like it, and when it's time to go to bed just pop in the ear plugs and sleep until morning.
