Seems like the new stage is where D9 was last year? It's a little hard to work that out.
Yeah, I think you're right. Once I Dr. Garbanzoured out the food vendors are where the D9 parking lot was, it was easier to see the layout.
I really want the lack of strict security/ free-for-all attitude of the fest to stay the way it has been since that's kinda where half the charm of it has been for me these last few years. And I'm sure after a few hours of craziness ect, it won't be an issue to meander around, but we should still make sure everyone buys camping for the same field, just in case.
Oh, but if the headliners really are Arcade Fire/Bruno Mars/Eminem... depending on the undercard, I might possibly be out.

They say that, but that doesn't mean it will happen. Pemberton had marked out 10x10 spots (for 20,000 people), and that lasted all of a couple hours before it became a free for all.
Mailed wristbands will be a huge help since that was the main bottleneck upon check in last year.
Our two campgrounds are Diamond Campground and Circle Campground. They both offer the same camping experience and are a short walk from the festival grounds.
When buying your camping site you will be asked to choose one of these two locations – choose wisely, these passes are NON TRANSFERABLE. Your camping wristband only grants you access into the camground you have purchased. So if you want to camp next to your friends, make sure you all select the same campground.
This somewhat sucks. Since I have no idea if there is any difference I'm going to to for the circle campground since anyone who picks diamond will probably expect it to be somehow better. Yay for judging people.
It doesn't sound like they're mailing the camping wristbands though so we'll still have to line up for that, but hopefully already having your festival wristband will alleviate some of the backlog of cars that happened last year.
I think circle campground is the way to go as well based on the maps they've put up; it looks to be about 5 minutes closer to the site. Although, the Diamond campground looks a little bigger and it says you're only allowed to visit the campground you have a wristband for which could cause problems if some of the group has camping in the other field. It's weird that the campgrounds are across the highway though -- I'm just thinking about all the drunk people trying to cross back and forth.
I'm pretty disappointed we won't be able to do the glamping though; I really liked just popping back to the tent for a drink or whatever and being able to sit at camp and listen to the music. On the new map, it looks like the VIP/Meadow stage area is the old glamping area: click to see map.
Some interesting updates on the Squamish fest site, but this one kinda saddens me:
"ARE YOU OFFERING GLAMPING OR VIP CAMPING THIS YEAR?
Currently we have no plans to offer glamping or VIP camping this year. If you’re interested in a bigger camping area, consider purchasing two camping sites."
However, it looks like they're really trying to improve the overall camping situation this year.
eta: Actually, I've been reading through the site some more and there's a few things I don't really like the sound of, especially:
"We’re pleased to announce that Squamish Festival 2014 is a fully cashless festival."
"DO I HAVE TO ACTIVATE MY WRISTBAND?
Yes. When you receive your wristband(s) in the mail closer to the festival, each pass holder needs to head to the registration website to activate and personalize their wristband. You can add credit to your account, and unlock lots of cool stuff at the same time."
With all the horror stories I heard about the wristband/cash idea they tried last year and the mandatory service charge involved, I'm not excited about the idea of being required to load up my wristband just in case I wanna buy a water or pack of gum...
And this whole required activating of your wristband sounds like an extremely alienating idea for those festival goers that aren't into that kinda thing or tech-savvy or just plain not good at reading and following rules. Plus, boy are they trying to become the Coachella of the north, eh? I mean, we're even gonna get our wristbands mailed "along with various goodies" this year (think: the collector's box with stickers/pins Coachella sends).

Yeah, I mostly assumed they were capable because they were up toward the top of some festival lineups in the last year or so, and Sasqatch isn't known for having a lot of huge headliners. I am usually shocked about the placement of artists on those posters. That's probably because I pay very little attention to pop music and radio, but I think we can all agree that festival placement is all fucked up.
Didn't last year Snacks say he was trying to change up the conventions of importance that came with billing on the poster and that's why he did the poster with names all over? Yet, it was also the year where he had some of the biggest headliners of the last few years. I'd like to think with his approach to changing how billing is done, it opens us up for a more varied selection of headliners than the same basic ones we're seeing on a lot of these posters.
There's no way the Femmes would headline; they'd probably get a spot similar to Elvis Costello last year. And there'd probably be just as many annoying teenagers asking who's playing on stage. But I'd love to see them again, so they're a more than welcome booking if we get 'em.
I'm loving all of these other lineups coming out! It's making all my guesses for the Sasquatches seem either more or less likely. And it's really making me wish I had more money to travel around to more festivals!
If anything I want to add a few after I saw that Firefly lineup. I edited out Pretty Lights with live band, and didn't think about A-Track.
Jesus Christ! Am I the only one who gives a shit about the rules around here?!
It's a contest on an Internet chat board with a fistpoop as the prize... the rules are really only there to keep this thread from turning into as much of a clusterfuck as most of the threads around here.
What about bonus points for guessing late-night sets?
Since that kinda info doesn't generally become clear until the schedule is out, I'm gonna go with no. You can leave your late night guesses though, and if/when they come true, you'll still get the bragging rights for calling it first.
I'm in...but I don't fully understand the crayon thing. I just pick two colours on the wiki page? Where d my picks go?
When you PM me with your address, tell me your colour choices. I'm then gonna take everyone's picks and put them in a bowl and each time I select a name, I'll draw a colour to go with it. I just had each of you give me two colours in case of duplicates (and there have been a couple) to ensure there would be enough. Hope that clears it up a bit for you.
