Im alive. Another amazing weekend down in the desert. Initial thoughts:
-Outkast was dog shit. Can't begin to explain how disappointing that was. Looks like this summer is all about cashing them cheques for Andre. At least Big Boi brought it. The Future guest spot might have been the worst 15 minutes of the weekend.
-Arcade Fire was amazing. Oh wow, a band that actually kept playing after their allowed time.
-Busta Fuckin Rhymes. Dude absolutely destroyed it during Girl Talk. Asap Rocky during Skrillex and Gwen Stefani during Pharell.
-Chromeo was phenomenal as expected. The Knife were dumb as hell. As expected.
-Future Islands, Capital Cities, Calvin Harris, Skrillex, Kid Cudi, CHVRCHES, Trombone Shorty and the preservation hall band were some of the other highlights

Yeah, I think I might be down for that! Great lineup! Although unless there is a pre-sale, I won't be able to get tickets until after Coachella.... I might be coming by myself too. Any of you Vancouver boarders wanna hang out? Dude yes! Sweet yeah, looks like I'll be rolling solo and if there are still tickets available when I get back to civilization on Monday I will grab one!

Kanye West is the musical equivalent of The Emperor's New Clothes. He's strutting down the street butt naked, and we're all high fiving him for his glorious robe of musical talent. He's a hack.

Quite happy with this schedule actually. Looks like I probably won't be seeing Woodkid, which is a bummer. Fatboy Slim probably won't be happening either, but from the sounds of his recent shows I won't be missing much.
Holy shit Saturday night though. What a gong show. PHARELL INTO SKRILL SKRILL!?!?!?! LETS DO THIS

I know you don't need any last minute conflicts, but I caught the Bryan Ferry (Roxy Music) show in Portland tonight. He's got a rough time slot at Coachella, so I doubt many of you will attend. He had nine people on stage, and it was a modernized version of what Roxy Music sounded like 40 years ago, heavy with guitar solos, but also mixed with mellow songs the kids these days will hate. The saxophone player was a highlight, so attractive. She played the alto mostly, but the tenor on a couple songs, and the soprano on a couple more. When she wasn't blowing the reed, she was playing keyboards. I know what it's like at 10pm at Coachella. I still love the Aquabats because of that time slot. If you are not 100% committed to another show then, and you find yourself standing in front of a sexy saxophone player, and a dude who looks like Bruce Buffer (LETS GET READY TO RUMBLE), stick around for a couple minutes. You'll catch something that will at least make your grandfather jealous. I am actually pretty surprised that I am going to be able to catch Bryan Ferry. I don't care much for the Replacements or Girl Talk so I am definitely planning on being there. Sounds awesome!

Pretty good lineup. You guys are sleeping on Tom Petty. That guy fucking rules live. Still haven't seen Tom Petty. He used to play the Gorge often. He needs to come back. Didn't Petty and Pearl Jam do a weekend at the Gorge a few years back? Now THAT would be worth a trip down.

I'd consider the Vancouver one for Fatboy (assuming he's good at Chella) Bear Mountain and STRFKR. What do tickets to this thing run? I can't even see where you guys are getting the lineups from. I bought a pre-sale ticket for Calgary this morning with a couple extras (Diplo mix tape, stickers, other crap) for $55. If you scroll down on the Mad Decent Block Party site it gives a breakdown of each city. cdn.maddecentblockparty.com/index.html

No real interest in the Calgary one for me besides RJD2, so I won't be going. It's got: Dillon Francis Flosstradamus RJD2 Smalltown DJs Zeds Dead "More to be announced" My sister gets to go to the Denver one though, which has Outkast and Run the Jewels. Got my tickets, but yeah that's a pretty disappointing start. For some reason Netsky and Big Gigantic are showing up on Songkick so here's to hoping. I have to believe that Diplo will be there in some capacity too.
