If they allowed in and out privileges could you imagine the bottleneck at the gates? Usually in the early afternoon you wait in a line for 45 minutes to get your bag checked and let in. That wait would only grow and carry into the evening if people came and went as they pleased.

Was it $9 or $12? I don't recall. I get into trouble down at Sasquatch financially. It is the one weekend I look forward to all year and go in with the attitude that cost isn't going to dictate my experience. I usually leave spending well over what I estimate as being reasonable beforehand.

I've never seen them play, but the following video is a decent live version of Slow. It's played at a much quicker tempo, which has me hoping the whole set is just as upbeat. The 1:00 time slot is lame, but it should be an awesome Chromeo warmup. Anyone else planning on getting in early enough for to see them on Monday?

I have a feeling he wouldn't be too disappointed. That giant red pepper is all kinds of awesome. As long as it's anatomically correct, I think you're good.

I'm feeling the Black Mountain/Chromeo issue too! I've just started listening to Black Mountain and they're awesome, but I really want to dance! They're also one of the big draws for my boyfriend and he really wants me to watch with him. Maybe I'll just get an inflatable girlfriend substitute while I'm shopping! I think empty might have you covered.

Dammit, my Black Mountain vs. Chromeo decision is just not getting any easier! I was leaning toward Black Mountain for a couple reasons, but the problem is I've seen Chromeo a few times and I know exactly how much fun I'd be missing out on. I'm sure 99% of my group will be going to Chromeo, and most of you folks as well. I will probably end up showing off my fancy footwork at Chromeo with y'all. Hurray for inflatables! One of the few bands that plays Vancouver more frequently than Chromeo is Black Mountain. That's what tilted my decision over to participating in the dance party.

We go camping with a couple registered nurses. They're miracle workers.

My guess is the TPB will be rolling around The Gorge all afternoon in character.

Not like they are going to thoroughly search your RV for a keg. If you are discreet about it, you would be fine.

I've seen Yeasayer twice (well, thrice, but I don't really count their early afternoon sasquatch set) and it was like night and day. The first time was soon after their first album blew up on Pitchfork and I didn't think the show was anything special. The second time was a couple years later and it became obvious right away that they were much more polished live musicians. They did things to deviate from the album that worked extremely well, and I left amazed that it was the same band I had seen previously.

I see the Lips at least every eighteen months or so, but I haven't heard them play "The Gash" in almost ten years; some of those songs never. This isn't going to be same ol' same ol'. Amen. I have only seen them play "Waiting for Superman" and "Race for the Prize". This should be amazing. Also I'm guessing I was at the same show Abominable was at the second Malkin Bowl show. I had a great time but something was a bit off that night. Also Wayne seemed a little too needy for love that show. I much preferred the first time they played that venue. You're right, I was at that show. I also saw them a few years earlier at the first Malkin Bowl show where I thought Black Moth Super Rainbow upstaged them as an opener... but BMSR is one of my favorite bands.

Yeah, this conflict is really horrible, and I agree that Yeasayer would be a near perfect band to open for the headliners on the main stage. I am completely on the fence at this point. I have seen The Flaming Lips so many times and after the last show left feeling a little disenchanted with them.
I know it is a great vibe and a spectacle, but it really can be predictable at times. The same set of props, Wayne going on a politically charged rant, the same costumes for the people pulled out of the crowd.
At any other venue I would skip the Lips without question to see the other bands playing at that time. Something about their stage show mixed with the backdrop of The Gorge, at sunset nonetheless, is making this a really tough decision.

Awesome idea. I would email ahead of time and explain it is for a film class, you might get someone who appreciates the idea and helps you out. Never hurts to ask.
If nothing else, take it down to document your campsite experience.

Going to be a day of the show decision between the hill for Iron and Wine and the tent for Washed Out.

That's why it pays to have a RV. your all welcomed to seek shelter with us if you need. We will have a couple of canopies too. In 2006, during the freak hail storm, we happened to be camping beside possibly the most under equipped girls at the entire festival. They were a group of three, and had a tent from the 80's that was meant to sleep one; it didn't survive the storm. Saving their lives might be a stretch, but I like to think offering them my jeep to sleep in saved their weekend.

After reading some of these stories I've come to the conclusion that I have been extremely fortunate to not have received a stern talking to or removal from the venue. I was walking around with a litre sized water bottle filled with vodka and orange kool-aid crystals last year and was way too drunk to be discreet about it.

Mike's hard lemonade and Gatorade!! Do you have to cut your Mike's Hard with Gatorade? Growers cider and white wine spritzers taste like Gatorade. No joke. Neither is the hangover, though.

I am heading down from Vancouver as well. We all usually meet at the big grocery store in Ellensburg. There is also a liquor store beside it.
