So Tom Goes To the Mayor was on tonight. I've never seen it before. Guess what episode it just happened to be?
I did not expect to like it, as I didn't like Tim & Eric at all, but it was actually enjoyable. I actually really like the animation style.

Here's the promised Portugal story:
2007, I believe, I went to see a show that I regret not going to all of every day, as Tera Melos was the opening band that night, and I probably would have been the TM superfan I am today much earlier. Anyways, the show was headlined by The Fall of Troy, and the band before them was a band I had never heard of before, fresh off the release of their first album, Waiter, You Vultures. Obviously, this band was Portugal. The Man. My buddy picked up waiter, and I forced him to play "Marching With 6" over and over and over again on the ride home, that being the song that hooked me straight into the Portugal obsession. Got home, and lo and behold, they were playing another show the week after that, so we went and I bought pretty much every piece of merch they had (only two cd's and a shirt at that time). Fast forward a bit....... This was when myspace was still the place to be, and they posted a blog saying "If anyone wants to hear the new album (church mouth), come ask us after a show and we will play it for you," something along those lines. Unfortunately (or so I thought at the time) they weren't playing any washington dates. So on the offhand chance that something might be able to happen, I sent them a message basically saying "Hey, looks like you're not doing any WA dates, but we'd love to check the album out if you guys are going to be in WA at any point."
To my surprise, I got a reply back from Zack, the bass player. He said that they were going to be in town at their studio packing up for a couple of days, and that they'd love for us to come down, sent me his phone number, and gave us directions to the studio.
Basically, it consisted of meeting John and Zack, (jason was in portland at the time) as well as their producer Casey Bates and then sitting in the control room and listening to a pre-final mix of Church Mouth a couple months before its release. It was one of the greatest moments of my life, and I feel super lucky to have had that chance before they took off. They were (and probably still are) awesomely nice guys that were willing to let a couple 19 year old guys come sit and revel in their minor celebrity.
This meeting is where the "Its Complicated" naming story came from. Those guys are awesome.
Wow, I definitely made that way the hell longer than it needed to be. Guess I was just enjoying the memories.

I guess its probably hard to think of yourself as a patriotic American when you can see russia from your house live in the same state as 2012 presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

So you don't consider yourself an American then?

I don't know why, but it feels really good to have no idea what qualifies for hipster smileys.

I dreamt that lumpy and I were kickin it rad in the campground... Then I woke up and felt a profound sense of loss, knowing that this would not be coming to fruition.

Question: Why is irony so hot right now? And when will it stop being ironic?

I think what makes me like Interpol so much is the fact that I love love love super simple repetitive lead guitar parts and single note harmonies, which they do (read: did) so well.
And I have to say that I think the guitar hook on the chorus of "C'mere" is my favorite, catchiest guitar hook that I have ever heard, and I've felt that way since the very first time I heard it.
Right at 1:42. Solid gold.

Speaking of interesting tidbits, my song reminded pea of Len's "Steal My Sunshine," for which the entire background is sampled from a disco song I'm sure most of you have heard, "More More More," by the Andrea True Connection.

Oh my god, really? It must have been like, 7 years ago or so that they were playing this on the end, I'm surprised you never heard it.

You. Someone. Anyone. Go to the meme thread, follow the link I posted, and LISTEN TO THAT SONG! I need to know if anyone digs it as much as I am right now. An aural palate cleanser after that Rebecca Black.

Yeah, the metal version is much better. Its so easy to crank out metal if that's what you do, haha. The growled 'friday' is much better than her nasally ass 'friday.'

To me, there is only one "weekend" song. It used to be played on the end every friday at the end of the afternoon show (you seattlites may remember what I'm talking about). It took a little bit of searching, and I'm pissed they don't have it on youtube, but I implore y'all to listen and groove. The song is by Arling & Cameron, and its called "W.E.E.K.E.N.D." Fucking great. vimeo.com/10433268EDIT: Note, I didn't actually watch the accompanying vid, but I think its SFW. EDIT 2:Oh my god, I seriously can't stop listening to this song now. Seriously, check it out!

Alright, watching the original now, then I will check out this metal version.
1) I don't think I've ever heard the word 'friday' spoken/sang more annoyingly. 2) Number 1 is actually, 'how the fuck does this have 35 million views?' 3) Don't think I have anything to add that hasn't been said 35 million times. 4) I don't know if it makes it better or worse that she didn't even write the song.
