Unlikely, I think. Why would they play the same market (Seattle, Vancouver) AND a festival in one weekend? Oversaturation much? If they headline the 25th, I guess I could head home early. ;D Agreed on both accounts. I'm hoping these dates are accurate and that LiveNation is simply counter-programming to Sasquatch, as in providing an option for a separate demographic around the same hot moment, the way a Hollywood studio would release a giant action movie and a romantic comedy at the same time.

I do admit I was here more to talk Sasquatch than make friends.
. . .
I should leave due to unreasonableness.

Whatever band or side project or solo adventure Bob Mould is currently working on would be great and kind of likely. I'm just so happy this board isn't planning Sasquatch, and I'm really hoping it's not the voice of the the majority, though I kind of feel like the personal fantasies might be misrepresenting the buried ambitions each poster has for the festival, because apparently 99% of message board posters couldn't program a festival worth shit, so more props to the people who do and I am very glad they don't listen to the bullshit people vomit out here. AKA I truly hope believe and wish the final product will blow away the altrock dipshit expectations of this board, Pearl Jam aside because I'm on that wagon, it's fucking Pearl Jam and they've worked for that spot, but what I'm saying is that this board has people who seem to think that Band Who Had One or Two Cool Songs on the Radio When I Was in Middleschool would be great, and maybe that's because The Cure and REM got everyone confused about what the exact intentions were for this festival, which from my personal trips and what I gather is a catering to underrepresented music lovers, who dig really underrepresented music, and don't listen to just ANTYHING, for fuck's sake, who don't ask for Any Band With a Radio Hit, so let's stop all this Oasis nonsense and really hope for something great. You agree with me. I know you do because I'll see you at Sasquatch! and you'll be being happy that it's not these crap bands playing. Calling people dipshit's based on musical taste. I bet you have an awesome outlook on life and have a career where the sky is the limit... I note your sarcasm but negate your intentions based on personal biases owing mostly to misinformation (at your fault). For example the dipshit adjective referred to tastes and not personality, and overall I was very optimistic about the reception of this board to the final schedule and implied mainly that the board underestimated the potential actual line-up. Very positive person with a very comfortable life. Though you were probably in a hurry, so it's okay you passed assumption based on limited interactions. It is the internet, after all.

Even though my mind unintentionally misconstrued John Vanderslice as David Vandervelde at first, once the correction was made I was still pumped. Great addition, though between him and Sun Kil Moon that's enough elder-aged acoustic acts, with due respect, because I'm not going to stand in my puddle of tears for three fucking days.
Put them back to back, though, or in the same spot in two different days, and I'll be standing, swaying, crying, remembering, listening.

Oasis/Weezer as a headliner would be really awesome.
Give me a day to spend in Seattle.

It's pretty fucking good. I mean, it's pretty amazing. My Bloody Valentine, Leonard Cohen, the Black Keys, Girl Talk, M. Ward, the Hold Steady, the Bug, TV on the Radio, Band of Horses, Fleet Foxes, Henry Rollins, Hercules and Love Affair, Drive-By Truckers, Liars, Blitzen Trapper, Antony and the Johnsons, and Brian Jonestown Massacre are among the bands I'd want to see.

Well SM & the Jicks were there last year, but a Pavement reunion would be epic. That being said, if Coachella couldn't afford them, I highly doubt Sasquatch can. I was thinking this over during my morning espresso, and though I initially shared this opinion with you, that if Coachella couldn't afford them Sasquatch couldn't, I realized that must be erroneous because there's no way Pavement is asking more than say REM or Beastie Boys or Ben Harper, etc, (for those of you who haven't read the article, a Pavement member was saying that the Coachella organizer keeps contacting the Pavement booking agent about Pavement playing but the booking agent responds that the 'price isn't right') so what they must mean when they say the price isn't right is that a Pavement's reunion is worth a lot for the right people. AKA A major festival like Coachella is dividing its money up with Prince or Madonna or McCartney or whatever, etc, and there isn't a big sum laying around for a Pavement reunion. BUT a festival like Sasquatch, which aims for a more intimate, more dedicated crowd, could feasibly dish out the money for a Pavement reunion and use them for a headliner. That kind of programming might satisfy the same audience members who post here and complain about shallow mainstream bands attracting the wrong audience. Pavement would attract exactly the right audience. I doubt it'll happen, because as big as Pavement is they certainly aren't REM/Cure big, and the whole problem is obviously finding the right place and time for Pavement to come back so that the price matches the economic payoff. I'm sure the money's there, though, and in an ideal situation it would happen.

I for some reason didn't even consider King Khan & the Shrines (or King Khan & BBQ), but now that seems like a great idea and I hope happens.
As far as Pavement goes, I'd buy a ticket for anywhere anytime to that reunion.

And is there a precedent to Sonic Youth playing a US festival? Has to be, right? As they'll be back from overseas, and as that'd be great, I'd like to introduce the completely self-fabricated but ideal potential of Boston Spaceships/pre-headliner/Sonic Youth.
That's just my personal wish, though.

The Thermals - 2009 Tour Dates Jan 31 - The Bell House, Brooklyn, NYC Feb 3 - The Cluny Newcastle * Feb 4 - ABC Glasgow * Feb 5 - Ritz Manchester * Feb 6 - Ritz Manchester * Feb 7 - The Shakespeare Sheffield * Feb 8 - St Georges Hall Bradford * Feb 9 - The Lexington London * Feb 10 - Heaven London * March - SXSW April - US Tour Summer - festivals in Europe & the USwww.brooklynvegan.com/archives/2009/01/the_thermals_20.htmlI think it's realistic to add The Thermals to the rumors. The Mountain Goats have all east coast dates up until April. Of the current popular LA bands (No Age, Abe Vigoda, Mika Miko, Crystal Antlers) I'd be really surprised to see more than two, if even more than one, playing, and I really think Abe Vigoda is likely. All these bands are relentless tourers and emerging talents; we'll see.

That's such a frustrating, humorless, and flagrant misuse of the word spam, especially in light of the playful connotations of my post. Let's whip out the definition:
spam |spam| noun 1 ( Spam) trademark a canned meat product made mainly from ham. 2 irrelevant or inappropriate messages sent on the Internet to a large number of recipients. verb [ trans. ] send the same message indiscriminately to (large numbers of recipients) on the Internet.
Let's bury the hatchet.
Buried.
And allow me to reiterate in new words the enthusiasm with which I dream of Boston Spaceship's appearance at Sasquatch:
I'd be terribly stoked.

Can we initiate a letter writing campaign in order to ensure Boston Spaceship's appearance? At least perhaps deluge their MySpace page: www.myspace.com/bostonspaceships
