Dude, you slept through The National? I don't know you, but you're dead to me. On a related note, going to see The National in five days with Menomena opening! Fuck yeah! Thedude, I know you were just saying that in jeste, however I would like to point out something here... Have you ever gone to bed at night, perhaps a little tipsy, perhaps sober, and listened to music while putting yourself to sleep? I do on occasion, and it can be an enjoyable experience. It can also be a thoroughly enjoyable aural experience doing the same thing at a live venue like the Gorge, where the sounds of music, cheering and conversation echo off the hillsides. I am no sleep psychologist, but listening to a band like the National in varying levels consciousness can be fulfilling - and it's not like their live show has any huge visual component to it. I also don't sleep in very well at all, so I have become quite good at (and become somewhat reliant on) a little shut eye during the day. Keeps me going knowing that i'll be fresh when the night hits. Call me old if you will... And good on you for the Menomena/National show coming up. I would be pumped to go to that double bill... ...so long as I had a nap beforehand, haha No, I get it man. I listen to music every night as I'm falling asleep. I was just taking the piss outta ya. I'll admit, I was up front for The National and a little too stoned so I lost focus a few times during their set, so I was definitely excited to have the opportunity to see them again (a little more sober this time). They and Menomena were fucking great. Sufjan Stevens was there too and did backing vocals during Afraid of Everyone and Terrible Love. Gave me a total indie boner.

Actually no. You gotta sleep sometime, and crashing in your tent after rolling all night once the sun has come is a good way to get VERY dehydrated. I'm all for getting fucked up, but you gotta take care of your shit or you're not gonna have a good time. Hydrate or die, kids. This fellow 29yr old agrees with you here. 4 am is my bedtime at the latest. Then it's also great to have a band in the late afternoon to have a little shut eye for; Saturday 5pm main stage for my friends and I will forever be called 'The Naptional'. Dude, you slept through The National? I don't know you, but you're dead to me. On a related note, going to see The National in five days with Menomena opening! Fuck yeah!

I was going to mention the strokes, I'd assume if they're doing european festivals than they'll be doing american ones as well and if they are in europe in july then they might still be in america at the end of may. Friday: Arctic Monkeys----Foo Fighters Saturday: Death Cab---The Strokes Sunday: Belle and Sebastian-----Flaming Lips Monday: Fleet Foxes-------Wire Wire have a portland date in april but are skipping seattle, I'm not a big fan but I could see them closing out the fest. Similar to ween last year. Wire would be fantastic. Sub in Modest Mouse for Arctic Monkeys and I could get behind that. Maybe Built to Spill in over Death Cab or Fleet Foxes?

I'm actually on board with camping per person, it'll save money if you get in a situation like I was last year---six people in two cars, so we had to get a second camping pass and I ended up paying for half it with one other guy.

I couldn't imagine going to Sasquatch and not camping. That's half the fun of it!

Oh, I'll watch them too from the hill, drunk as hell and reveling in high school nostalgia, but I was really hoping for something more.
Hopefully the next three headliners are better.

The only thing really stopping you from carrying a fucking watermelon around for twelve hours during a music festival is common sense. Wouldn't really have to carry it around. The crew I go with set up on a spot on the hill, and there's usually somebody hanging out there at any given time. Plus, between ten or so people, no way it even lasts close to twelve hours.

Also, if you've gone five years in a row you should know by now that if you're drinking shitcreek lager from the concession stand then you're doing it wrong. it was a joke man. i was bring my whiskey soaked fruit. Shit, do you think I could get a vodka watermelon through security?

Modest Mouse performing entirely pre-Good News tunes would top it for me.

Plus the only day she's not playing a show is the Sunday between her Portland and San Francisco shows. I would say it's a safe bet she won't be at Sasquatch.

I'll still be in Europe right up until around there. It'd be cool to check out, but all my friends will be at Sasquatch. What to do, what to do...

Alright, this will sound like a complete stoner-hippy cliche, but it really does change your life. At least it did for me and a lot of people I know. It's hard to put into words, but I'll try my best:
It changes your perceptions of reality and yourself. It's a bit like realizing up until then that you've been viewing everything in black and white and now it's in eye-popping colour. It made me confront myself and my insecurities. A lot of my negative thinking like conceit, selfishness, jealousy, and self-pity just washed away---because really, what is the point of those anyway? All of it just detracts and prevents you from being the person you truly are. I had gained a greater sense of appreciation and awe for the everything around me in this world, this universe.
I tried writing a story about it, but it was just a bunch of self-wankery---a little like the above. Maybe I'll go back to it someday when the perspective has had a few more years to settle in.
It's really just something you have to experience yourself.
EDIT: Also, next year, if anybody has access to a lot of LSD, could you please bring some next year? I would, but I have to cross a border to get to Squatch, so it's not worth the risk to me. You would make a lot of people happy. I couldn't find a single person that had any this year---everyone was looking! One guy said he had met someone with a few tabs on Thursday night, but by the end of the weekend it had reached a sort of mythical status.

I dont have any pics but I did see a group that was dressed up as every member of the Power Rangers which was pretty funny/crazy. I didn't get a shot of the whole group, I think one of my friends did, but then she lost her camera. Ah well.

Sonofabitch. In my defence, I posted that at like four in the morning and I was pretty blitzed. It would be cool if Will Oldham is there, whatever the fuck he calls himself. Has anybody been to an LCD Soundsystem show when its actually dark and not in the middle of the afternoon? As Ive only seen them at Sasquatch I would like to hear peoples thoughts on them when they perform in the dark with their light show. I saw them at Bestival back in September where they closed the Big Top tent at like one in the morning. They had the disco ball out, but honestly their light show wasn't really different from other big bands with light shows. It did provide a better atmosphere than watching them in the afternoon though. EDIT: After watching some Youtube videos, it looks like they didn't have the same lights that they do for their own shows. Maybe they just don't bring them out for festivals?

Probably not anything on here that somebody else has mentioned, but I'd love to see any of these bands (that are touring, have an album just out/coming out, or just haven't been at Sasquatch in a while) next year:
Modest Mouse Sufjan Stevens Built to Spill Yeasayer Local Natives Panda Bear British Sea Power Wavves Best Coast Belle & Sebastian Future of the Left LCD Soundsystem Fever Ray Wolf Parade The Walkmen Titus Andronicus Surfer Blood Hot Chip Deerhunter Billy 'Prince' Bonny Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti Wilco Real Estate Meat Puppets Big Business

Modest Mouse and Sufjan Stevens would get my dick hard. If you'd only give them the chance. You know it!
