Any other Bejar fans here?
I just got the Trouble in Dreams pre-order in the mail from Merge this afternoon. So good. ;D ;D ;D
Included: 1x 2LP (I hadn't realized it would be a double. This thing is HUGE!) 1x CD (the first CD I've purchased in almost a year) 1x Trouble in Dreams poster 1x Destroyer Word Magnets 2x Merge Stickers (to add to my pile) 1x Mind blown
Trouble in Dreams is far from my favourite Destroyer album; it has a weaker than usual second half, and "Shooting Rockets" is possibly my least favourite Destroyer song in his entire catalog.

Big acts? What does that even mean? This years headliners managed to skew closer to my own taste (well, my taste in the 1990's anyway), but headliners alone are the absolute worst way to base a decision on going to a festival like this.
I think that all of this speaks to the relative fragmentation of music right now. There are relatively few "big" acts anymore, and so it is up to the consumer to find out what they like. It isn't even about "I haven't even heard of ____________ " before; it is "There are going to be 75 different bands there, and I need to figure out which ones I am interested in." Popularity doesn't even factor into it.
Check out the music share section for the podcasts and the downloads to help you with this. Personally, I found Citizen Cope to be offensively bad, but that doesn't make it bad. Since finding out the lineup, I have made more than a few discoveries of bands I absolutely need to see this year (The Shaky Hands, Throw Me the Statue - both of which I hadn't "heard of" before).
It's all about discovery.

I just checked out the Newton Faulkner stuff:
Jack Johnson with better guitar skills and (if you can imagine) worse songs. I got through two songs, cringing the entire way. Gross.

Here's something I'd like to know. Can someone please explain the appeal of M.I.A.? I've listened to her music on MySpace and watched the music video for 'Bird Flu' last year before she cancelled. Tonight I decided to listen to her stuff again and other than being on the verge of a massive seizure from all the blinking stuff on her website and myspace, I don't understand why she's such a big deal. I think it started off as a novelty thing - or at least that is what it was for me. I remember hearing stuff in '03 (the "Piracy Funds Terrorism" album) which was a bootleg, and sampled (illegally) all of these well known songs. It was kind of brazen. Then, it was "cleaned up" for the official release (Arular) - same songs, but different music, but still good because it was pretty old school (listen to "Bucky Done Gun" - www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBfXxCsKBXc for an example). I think people like it because of how danceable it is, which doesn't always translate into good listening on its own. Her recent stuff doesn't do much for me.

www.livenation.com/artist/getArtist/artistId/134588/Frog Eyes in Vancouver with Destroyer on the 31st? I mean, Frog Eyes are from Victoria, but.... maybe at Sasquatch too (noticet that this is a Live Nation posting). Aside from Destroyer, my other favourite band is Frog Eyes (and they were in my original lineup guess too).

Oh man... I think that looks like some random Wiki editing to me... though I would love seeing The Kinks. FR.

Also: Dustin, I saw on CoS that you doubted that Fall of Troy and The Dear Hunter seemed more like Warp Tour bands... I have to concur. I thought when I saw those names that they probably wouldn't be a good fit. Plus,

Really love M83's last record a great deal. I am glad that this rumour has been (more or less) confirmed.

Right - which is why I have it under "basically confirmed" and not "Confirmed" - until next week, it is all conjecture anyways. I say that if the tour dates add up, if they fit the general music stylings of Sasquatch (indie, hip hop), then it is a safe guess, but you are probably right.
I got the Beruit info from this blog - From Blown Speakers (http://itcameoutmagical.blogspot.com/) It says: Zach Condon makes his first visit to Vancouver on May 22nd when Beirut plays the Ballroom. (note: real close to Sasquatch)
