Yeah I was at Street Scene 08' in San Diego, and the Black Crowes were supposed to close, but due to a "medical emergency," Devo stepped in... Devo... Matt Berringer, lead singer of The National, said it best with, "Yeah, and Devo will be playing on the other mainstage... Great... We opened for Devo..." It was as much what he said, but how he said it, that made it one of the most hilarious things to witness.

Ok Go- Here it goes again: Disney, as well as creating "This too shall pass" with State Farm Money.
Kid Cudi- A remix of Pursuit of Happiness is used for VitaminWater
Nada Surf- A cover of "All you need is love," for Chase
New Pornographers- How could we forget "Bleeding Heart Show," being used for the University of Phoenix ads?

OMGZ, CALLING A BAND SELL OUTS FOR HAVING MUZIK IN ADVERTSMNTS IS SOOO 90's. QUIT B-ING SUCH A H8R Doesn't look like anyone's calling any bands "sell outs," so there's not much hating... As previously stated, it's the nerdy aspect of all of us coming out.

Miike Snow is going to be playing the same time Broken Social Scene are... FML... Oh well, another time Miike, another time... what??? i didnt catch that in the mock-schedule. fml indeed Yeah I got stupid bored today, and compared the last few years of set times with the way they released the bands, and the accompanying stages on the main sight... and Miike Snow fits on Wookie exactly into the same time that Broken Social Scene are supposed to play.... On top of that I feel like if you want a good spot for Broken Social Scene you're gonna have to watch Ok Go and may have to miss at least the last half of Edward Sharpe... Oh well I'm not going to complain much more than that, lol.

Realize there's some major overlapping in my Top 10 as Miike Snow, and Broken Social Scene will likely be playing at the same time... And the Temper Trap will be playing into Phantogram's set time... Oh well 8 complete shows, and 1 half show out of my top 10 ain't to bad.

i'm really excited about the xx, i had never heard of them before about a month ago. i'm really digging their songs. I would say that they do play their set like their album... Same sounds, same list, nothing completely different. Though I'm never really sure what to think about a band that does that, I will say their live show can be pretty amazing. I've only seen them in an enclosed environment, so outside is going to be something interesting to see at the least. For what it's worth I'd highly recommend.

It's going to be interesting to watch the forthcoming weeks and see if any more tickets come out of the woodwork or are "re-released" if it is just Monday still left. I can only feel lucky that I was fortunate to get that stuff out of the way, I'm going to have some sorely disappointed friends who were still weighing their options... ah well c'est la vie, right.

Rappers don't age like rock musicians? On a side note I bought the new Kid Cudi CD. Aside from some of the poppy songs on it which were just made for the radio, his lyrics are pretty great & some songs are good authentic hip hop... Alot of people haven't heard the stuff they don't play on the radio which is definitely worth checking out. I can agree with you... I've been an event DJ for a few years now, and that means having to listen to "Day N' Nite" more than I care to admit too, but after finally getting over my eliteism, I did find some strong writing in his lyrics. I was impressed. With that being said, as Kid Cudi has been doing collaborations and covers of other various artists... ("Pursuit of Happiness" with MGMT and "The Prayer," a cover of Band of Horses "The Funeral,") and these artists also playing the festival, what would you say the likelihood of seeing some of these collaborations live?

Yeah, I've been dying for a chance to see The Heavy for a year or two now, and not going to lie, that add was amazing to me.

Yeah they weren't on par at their first run of the festival circuit last year, but they did well at Monolith in Red Rocks, and after seeing them there, and at a smaller club in Phoenix, I have to believe they've found more of their stride. It was really the "Woodies" performance that makes me think Michael, the lead singer, has got some serious talent. After watching their two/three song set and seeing everyone (from Kanye to Taylor Swift) get into it over the course of those songs was amazing.

really Jets Overhead? I haven't listened to their albums , but i've heard them on the radio. I wasn't feeling it, is there something i'm missing? It's really up to your taste, but I've been diggin' there sound for quite some time, as they are up in Canada and don't seem to come too far south I haven't had the opportunity, but yeah I would definitely give them a little more of a listen.

Oh yeah Local Natives for sure, but do not underestimate The Middle East, Caribou, Phantogram, and Jets Overhead. Freelance Whales will most definitely be a good show... I'm excited to see Shadow Shadow Shade again, and Martina Topley Bird.
Not knowing what everyone's definition of (smaller,) may be... I about keeled over seeing The Heavy announced because that is going to be a sick show, as well as The Temper Trap, The Tallest Man, and of course the XX.

Yeah, I had been listening to The National for awhile before I got my chance to see them play at Street Scene in 08... It was such an emotionally moving and powerful show, and I thought that was just due to the personal connection I had with the music, come to find out friends who had never heard them before felt something similar.
Not gonna lie, I was sold when I saw Broken Social Scene, but I threw down the cash when I read the National. As long as they don't conflict with BSS, which it won't, I'm always going to watch the National. It's going to be a beautiful show with the Gorge behind them, and the night in full swing. Besides their latest set line-ups seem pretty well rounded with Abel, and Slow Show being perfectly placed before and after newer songs.
A little off topic, but their touring with Ramona Falls up to the day before the show, anyone else a fan?

the funny thing is, interstate is spot on with that idea. sasquatchorbust i'd love to share some beers with ya. would it be horribly stereotypical of me to bring some guinness along? I'm always down for the Guinness if you're needing some help with them... tell yer what, I'll bring the whiskey for our Irish friend, if we find some Bailey's, then we can start with the car bombs!
