Just heard "How You Like Me Now," by the Heavy on a TNT spot...

WOW! That looks like a pretty sick line-up... It may just be Arcade Fire and Stars making me say that, but regardless, that'd be nice.

I 2nd that it looks cool very unique add I'll probably watch the set barring any conflicts I'm right there with you, barring no conflict it should be pretty interesting. Arcade Fire is pretty expensive to begin with, much more than Low Anthem, so I don't know where they would get the additional money to book anyone bigger. In my opinion it's pretty cool.

. Anyway, this is just what I speculated. Yeah this is pretty much what I have written in times... question though on the Sunday schedule, was that a typo for Caribou? It's what I have down in terms of placement, the times just seem loopy. There's only one big FML, and that's BSS and Miike Snow, but whatever BSS wins hands down.

Maybe the ultimate tease? Like, maybe they're drawing it out, waiting for the last final opportune second? Yeah, that's what it is!

Hahahaha very awesome! The pixies could sub-headline, but only for the likes of Soundgarden! That's going to be very cool!

Miike Snow should end just before Broken Social Scene starts now that Deadmau5 is closing the Wookie instead of the dance tent. Plus you don't have to sit through Ok Go, because the crowd always is switching from the pit and ground area until the last two acts so you can easily get into the pit before hand. So it should go Edward Sharpe > Miike Snow > Broken Social Scene > National > etc This definitely would be the ideal set-up...

More power to you. I've given them a shot before, never been a fan of the music, saw a show anyway, just not my particular brand of whiskey, (and I drink lots of whiskey.) Not that I have anything against them, for whatever reason, that's an odd set-up (MGMT into Ween,) but who knows it could work really well, I've seen some really interesting mixes, as I'm sure most have. Luckily the Sasquatch Gods have deemed it fit to have some other artists to mix it up for others.

Yeah, that's the best way to look at it. For some reason it just rubs me the wrong way when people get all high and mighty.
And no worries, it was a toss-up really on how serious you were, likely at the time I was all to ready and had enough time for some forum flare-up so I was just making sure. haha

It all makes sense now... My face is red... It just made little to no sense, inquiry was inevitable, relief is now welcomed.

You argue like you are in junior high school. These forum boards are brutally slow and boring and for a minute I thought maybe an opinion could spark some genuine conversation about the festival. Guess what pal, posting hundreds of times doesn't make your opinion more valid than mine. Instead of just mocking what I say "ya throw them on the yeti at noon" (which I never said) or just saying that I lack knowledge to have that opinion, shows you have some growing up to do. TBH I am not even going to be there on the day in question and couldn't really care less when MGMT plays but I think these boards could use some real discussions about music. i have some real discussion points about the new MGMT album. it is a pretty sophisticated album that demands alot from the listener. it grows on you if you give it time and keep an open mind. many people (not on just this board) are dismissing at first listen. this is sort of missing the point. it seems to me that MGMT is very determined not to be a techno single hit oriented dance band. interestingly, their label was not particularly enthusiastic about this album because they knew it wouldn't have the huge mainstream appeal of "oracular" and they were right. i personally think it is admirable that the band eschewed hits in favor of a concept album. not something you see too much these days. the album has some very interesting and complex musical ideas although it does overreach at times. I think you raise many interesting points here. It's a stretch of a comparison, but back in 2005 when artists like Arcade Fire, Bloc Party, and Clap Your Hands had amazing debut albums there was a large amount of hype built around them making their sophomore albums difficult to match or top. All three in my opinion had follow-up albums that were easily just as good if not better than the first for many reasons. Silent Alarm, Neon Bible, and Some Louder than Thunder have produced some of my favorite songs to date, and not just for the bands. These essentially were albums that had to grow on you, and for that reason I find myself playing more of these tracks than of the debuts. This isn't to say that I won't go back to "In this Home on Ice," "Crown of Love," or "This Modern Love," I just find myself listening to their seconds more than their first. Again this is loose comparison as Congratulations isn't necessarily their sophmore album, but it is the break from the sound we've come to associate with MGMT. On another note, I don't know where this "noon" or early afternoon thought is coming from in terms of schedule... If anything they're likely going to play the 7:30 spot on the mainstage, opening for ween *sigh,* but should be a cool lead to the New Pornographers, and ultimately Boyz Noize.

Just saw a Kia commercial with The Heavy being played on a girl's Ipod on the car. Not gonna lie, I drive an HHR, and I've been blasting that album since last October, and I've probably looked like I've epitomized that commercial more times than not.

piques, adman, and since you're in the biz maybe you could pitch Ween's 'Zoloft' to Pfizer or 'The HIV Song' to Trojan. Hahaha, though I won't bash on an artist for having their music in advertisements, as it's generally not their call but their record company, I've always been a strong advocate of using new and unheard music in commercials... essentially making something just for that ad... Yeah it's a little more work, but then again anything done right, will always be the case.

Not even a quick search... I can see it being some ambiguous title, as that's the standard with blogs, but even cross referencing all available information, there's not really a site out there with legitimate "Soundgardern to Sasquatch," information, aside from rumor-mills. I just want to know so as to not have to worry about them completely changing up the tentative scheduling.

That was only the third worst "I know something you don't know, believe me" post this year. 1. Smashing Pumpkins will headline (too much idiocy to comprehend). 2. Soundgarden is confirmed!!!!!!!! I'll buy you a beer if I'm wrong!!!!!!!!!!! What ever happend to that guy? I'm thirsty. 3. "Huge changes that will shift the lineup," as andimac states above. No one believed him. I read on Adam Zack's blog that Soundgarden is confirmed, but they are waiting until Ticketmaster starts selling 3-day passes again to formally announce it. That's right, there are more 3-day passes to come. Uhm, what's his blog called, as my interests have exponentially peaked.

Doesn't look like anyone's calling any bands "sell outs," so there's not much hating... As previously stated, it's the nerdy aspect of all of us coming out. Oh man, I was totally kidding (hence the all caps and "L33T" speak), please do not take anything I say seriously. I think my post was channeling howardmoon in some way. Please continue. In fact, I find it interesting learning about who all is in what commercial. You know you never can tell sometimes, that's why I hoped to keep it neutral in speech. I must admit I'm in Advertising, so this peaks my interest in a completely different way.

Since I wasn't too helpful with the, She & Him/ The XX question, I figured I should make up for it.
I saw the National in 08 at Street Scene in San Diego, and it was by far overall favorite show. The emotions that Matt was able to get across just infused the experience with so much energy. Mind you there were other amazing indelible performances by Devotchka, TVOTR, Ghostland, and Justice. I also caught MGMT there, it was the first performance on the first day off one of the smaller stages, but it was an amazing way to start the weekend, I'm going to be intrigued to see how they do.
Unfortunately the sound was setup perfectly and there were complications mid-set for many bands that weekend it seemed especially worst for the New Pornographers, I was really excited to see them as it was my first and they're a favorite band of mine, A.C. got understandably frustrated and the show just got bad. I still think they'll be an amazing show and plan on seeing them this year.
I've seen Band of Horses several times, and by far my favorite experience is when they played in the Hollywood Bowl, (which if you've seen the movie, it's the one Jim Carey and Zooey Deschnael sing in during "Yes Man,") it's a big amphitheater, great setting and sound--they played exceptionally well.
I saw the Long Winters play at my University back in 2006, it was a great show purely by how they played off the crowd. Great show, great music, highly recommend.

Yeah sorry, realized I was speaking as if I had a legit schedule... I just took the last few years schedules, and the way they tier the band on the home-site year by year, and plugged in the bands to the corresponding spots... It's seem to work out without any hitch aside from Wookie looking like it's going to be going later this year than some of the years before.

I can't say anything about the festival setting for either, but I have seen The XX live, and I was impressed by the set--taking into consideration that they had just recently lost a member in mid-tour. I'm really interested to hopefully, see them in an atmosphere that can really carry their sound.
