Okay, I'm starting to get really excited about the lineup now.
Friday: Blur (can't fucking wait!), Stone Roses (still not super pumped, but it will be a blast to get wild to "I am the Resurrection"), Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Grinderman, How to Destroy Angels, Four Tet, Sparks, Lee Scratch Perry (so stroked!), and hopefully I can catch some Youth Lagoon and Wolfgang
Saturday: New Order, Hot Chip, Moby (can't wait to get wild with Moby!!), Violent Femmes, Janelle Monae, The Wombats, REIGNWOLF, Pusha T, The Selector and hopefully a little Major Lazer and Richie Hawtin
Sunday: NICK CAVE AND THE BAD SEEDS(Oh my FUCK(!) yes! Most anticipated set of the weekend for me by far), Vampire Weekend, Wu-Tang Clan, La Roux, James Blake, Gaslight Anthem, OMD, Father John Misty, Jessie Ware, Thee Oh Sees (fucking finally!), Jeff the Brotherhood. Catching Dinosaur Jr. is always fun and hopefully a little Roni Size too.
Man, it went from "who the fuck do I even want to see that would make going all the way out there even worth it?" to "I'm not going to even be able to see all these amazing bands!!!!". Other than sniffing out OMD a little further, I haven't even started checking out the shit I don't even know. This is going to be awesome. Yeah!

Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark - Dazzle Ships Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark - Architecture and Morality
Wow. I've never given OMD my full attention before. I've obviously heard "If You Leave" and I own Junk Culture because I found it in a thrift store vinyl bin, but fuck me was I ever missing out! I'm currently listening to Dazzle and I don't think I've been this excited listening to a new (for me) album in a long while. It's awesome! Just an incredibly paced album. I love how they sort of reveal their strengths piece by piece, from the techy/synth stuff, to good song writing, some impressive vocal chops and a whole whack of emotion just as things start to feel like they might be getting too robotic.
I'm really stroked to catch them at Coachella now.

I'm sorry, but fuck Daft Punk. They were great in their time, but a total pipe dream for anyone that thinks they'll turn up on a summer festival. It's time to le sleeping dogs lie. Seriously. Thank you. Daft Punk knows they're never going to change live music the way they did with their pyramid, and they're plenty smart enough not to try and fail. Daft Punk was simply just the first time that Radiohead Coachella kids found out that being festival destroyed works just as well with beats and flashy lights. Go figure, dudes... NOW PLEASE TALK ABOUT IT FOREVER LIKE YOU JUST UNEARTHED ELECTRO MUSIC YOURSELVES!!!!

Burrito, get a good set of headphones and crank the fuck up "Going Out West". Have your mind blown, why don't ya.
I'd actually be really interested in your thoughts on that song. That low dirty evil production on the guitars is some kinda wonderful on your ears.

I didn't notice that Mule Variations post until just now. Fantastic read. Im gonna go relisten to it right now. Thanks, Gene! I was so excited to write that review that 12 bajillion thoughts spilled outta my head at once. I actually had to cut more than I wrote which is why if gets pretty disjointed in parts. I tried to jam it all in there. I couldn't help myself.

After watching Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds' God Is In The House last night it got me wanting to see this gem very badly. One of the greatest performances ever. He's a magical man. His voice is absolutely flawless, heartbreaking, and a force. Easily one of the most impressive displays of talent I have ever seen. So fucking happy to see it on Youtube!

Let me add my support to wonk's urgent Nick Cave suggestion: anyone who goes to Coachella who doesn't watch the Bad Seeds is a fucking idiot and will be banned. Nick Cave is basically on the same level as Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen -- he is on a very short list of living legends. If you don't love Nick Cave, it is either because you have never listened to his music, or you are a reactionary snob. I saw Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds at the Warfield in San Francisco in 2001. It was like visiting some half-insane witch doctor. He was wearing a forest green crushed velvet suit; he had roughly ten musicians onstage, and the music they produced sounded not so much like an ensemble but like a fucking stew of sounds. He stood in front of this nearly visible vortex of low-end noises and wailed and cackled and clutched at the sky in such extreme fashion that I stood there fully prepared to not be surprised when he was struck by lightning. He doesn't play often. Do not miss it. At the very least, you'll be able to say you were there. Anybody looking to get a taste of the Bad Seeds should get their hands on the God Is In The House DVD. So fucking bad ass! They open with "Do You Love Me" and then go into "Oh My Lord". In both instances The Bad Seeds and Cave take the songs right out of the fucking stratosphere. As intense as music gets. Watch 'em. "Do You Love Me" "Oh My Lord"

Tom Waits - Bone Machine
Been listening to this all day on repeat. In the car, in my room, in my headphones, in the living room. The man is a national treasure. Fucking phenomenal. You gotta love an album that you've heard a billion times still sound like a raging fire that could burn anything it wanted to the fucking ground.
