Upon further retrospect: They are seriously lacking the services of a really good bass player with a fretless bass that plays for the whole show. That would seriously tie everything together and actually hold things down for a few of Justin Vernon's cringe worthy "jam" moments. Lots of the jamming works as it is but holy shit does it look like a guy who wants to jam but can't really jam on a couple of occasions.

Just finished getting peeled back with Bon Iver tonight. Do you have a setlist or review of that show? I can't find one online. No setlist. I don't wanna get negative about anything Sasquatch related, but I'll say that it was not as good of a show as I had hoped for. Seeing Bon Iver live really exposes the fact that the overall songwriting is either pretty darn good (as are the performances) or not good at all. This is coming from a guy who thoroughly enjoys the albums. One thing that was really cool was that the whole concert felt like an entire cohesive experience. The transition between each song from the music, the visuals, the lights are done exceptionally well and purposely bridge each song together. Too bad some of the performances fall flat on their face when compared to others. Colin Stetson's solo was completely worth the price of admission. I'm pretty sure no other human on Earth can do what he does so I was really happy to have witnessed it. The drummer on the left hand of the stage is awesome. The violin solo was also mesmerizing. Final thought: When they hit their stride in a song it is downright SPECTACULAR! They do this in about half of the songs. Final Final Thought: There is no other way to close a show if you are Bon Iver than closing it with "Beth/Rest". They ended the set with it, but then came out for an encore which paled in comparison.

I still say "Alohomora" when I can't get a door open.
The weird thing is that I actually despised the books. As a former Fantasy dork I didn't buy for one second that Rowling had things all planned out. Everything screamed of fly-by-your-pants or super lazy "go back and pick something from the previous book and make it look like it always had an intended story line beyond that book". Dem books were like crack though and despite my dislike of them I totally gobbled each one up.

How did the biggest book franchise decide on Chris Columbus? One of the Powers-that-be must have had an unhealthy obsession with Bi-Centennial Man or something. It hadn't quite reached leviathan status by the time the first film came out. It was a cash grab. They're just lucky they managed to cast the main characters so perfectly, because once that shit took off they were gonna be stuck with whoever they picked regardless. It had to be big enough. I totally admit to reading the books and seeing the midnight showing of the first film. The line was huge and we lined up for hours. Then again, Edmonton is like a Bio-Dome starved for anything that the rest of the world gets.

Edmonton manages to once again be so uncool to me that it booked The fucking Wall for two nights which are of course while I'm at Sasquatch.
I'm gonna have to see if Feed Me will take my request to play "In the Flesh".

I also recommend the album Braver, Newer World by Jimmy Dale Gilmore. Dude, Jimmy Dale Gilmore? You're the only other person other than my dad whose knows this name. That man is so sweet. Have you ever heard of the first band he was in, The Flatlanders? Good stuff too.

I was the exact opposite -- I thought Captain America was decent but fell asleep during part of it, and I was surprised at how much I liked Thor. I felt the exact same way. I even fell asleep during Captain America too!

There is french gangsta rap but it pretty much mimics american...the regular french rap is quite diferent and very cool...check out da Ocktopuss and MC Solar, etc. or the sound track from District B13. An amazing french movie I would recommend to watch that deals with with Paris project culture (which heavily mimics American culture) would be La Haine. Amazing movie (plus it has Vincent Cassell!!!). EDIT: "More Bounce to the Ounce" by Zapp and Roger is such a bomb ass tune, I almost throw it on every mix CD I make for people. Shit's from 1980!
