Huge album sales doesn't always translate into bands being good on record or live.(I'm not citing examples, there are plenty) I have listened to all their (MGMT) music and prefer to see almost any other band on this bill. IMO, they need/deserve to play later in the day but not on the main stage because of the other acts that day and therefore would be better suited headlining the 2nd stage. none of that matters. you fail to realize the size of their fanbase. You argue like you are in junior high school. These forum boards are brutally slow and boring and for a minute I thought maybe an opinion could spark some genuine conversation about the festival. Guess what pal, posting hundreds of times doesn't make your opinion more valid than mine. Instead of just mocking what I say "ya throw them on the yeti at noon" (which I never said) or just saying that I lack knowledge to have that opinion, shows you have some growing up to do. TBH I am not even going to be there on the day in question and couldn't really care less when MGMT plays but I think these boards could use some real discussions about music.

except they're selling more albums in the world than pretty much EVERY other artist on the bill this year. ya, let's just throw them on the yeti stage around noon. Most people have prob heard but MGMT is streaming their new album 'Congratulations' online: www.whoismgmt.com/IMO - its a strong sophomore (not really) effort that needs a few listens to fully reveal itself. Not a fan...at all! It's kind of different weird but not that good. Especially when you compare it to most of the other bands at the fest. I don't even think they should be on the Sasquatch stage.

Hey is playing in Calgary a couple weeks before the festival with the Nurses. I'm definitely going to check it out. I dig this dude...and the Nurses are pretty sweet as well.

BTW, Jacketman did you go see them in Seattle Nov 2008? and were you stayin' at the Green Tortoise? No I missed that one. I live in Calgary and we were down in Portland and Seattle at the end of september 08 for My Morning Jacket. Couldn't make the trip for DBT as well. I'm pissesd cause we can only come for the saturday of the festival so i will be missing DBT among many other bands i wish i could stay and see.

Anyone looking for a great resource for live MMJ audio and video try here. www.archive.org/search.php?query=my%20morning%20jacket&sort=-dateThis has the shows sorted in order according to their date. Most shows are streaming and download, some are download only. There isn't a lot of video but there are hundreds of full length concerts.

as for tips to get "other stuff" in to the festival grounds. have a female friend put it in her bra. 100% effective. every time! For "other stuff," I just stick it in my pockets. Never once had anyone ask to empty my pockets... Coming from Calgary, don't want to risk the boarder crossing. I will be in need of some "other stuff". PM me if anybody could be so kind as to help a fellow smoker out. I can and will return the favor should you ever be in my fine country. Thanks.

I would expect to hear some new songs from MMJ. They have had quite a bit of time off since the Evil Urges tour. They are going for a mini tour with the NO PHJB and are expected to start debuting new material then. I can't wait to see them at the gorge! It will be my first Gorge show and my 4th MMJ show.

Parking is not camping. Camping involves staying overnight. Yes, they do have a parking lot for people not camping. They clear it after the show each night, with the towtruck drivers doing the final clearing. So can we pay for our parking at the venue? We are only coming for Saturday and are staying in Quincy. Thanks for the help.

Who? My Morning Jacket Where? Pemberton, Portland, Seattle When? July and September 2008
Absolutely amazing live. Set was way to short at Pemberton festival. I expect more than 2.5 hours at Sasquatch. Check out archive.org for a huge selection of free MMJ shows. We are coming from Calgary just for the saturday and more specifically for MMJ. If I didn't have class on monday we would stay for the entire weekend.
Who? Vampire Weekend Where? Pemberton Festival When? July 2008
Meh. They played the main stage early on the final day of the show.
