I see that. Going the Tsawwassen route would mean crossing the border and I've always found getting back home a lot easier via a ferry. A dog sniffs your car and that's about it. Also it eliminates the half hour drive from the Swartz Bay ferry terminal to downtown Victoria. Port Angeles ferry drops you off right downtown.
Both ferries cost the same so there's no saving money either.
I've always made it back leaving really early on Tuesday morning. It's about six hours from the gorge to van, even with a wait at the border you should be able to make a ferry. The way down usually takes more time 'cause you have to stop for supplies.
I live in Victoria, we'd have to catch a ferry from Port Angeles and there's only a few a day. Plus people in my car will likely need to be back early on Tuesday so we may have to catch the 8:30am ferry.
I'm going to be a good boy and add to this thread with more questions instead of starting a new one.
I am a total noob and didn't take into consideration that there would be music on Monday as well. So, how late does it go till on Monday and what time do they start kicking people off the camp grounds (premier to be specific)?
I was hoping to be home back in Victoria by Tuesday but this might be unlikely since my friend that is coming really wants to see Postal Service and they're apparently playing Monday.
Regarding the EDM talk and Paradiso - When I think of Sasquatch booking EDM, I think of amazing live performances. Sure they book DJs too but Paradiso ONLY books DJs it seems. Sasquatch should never give up on the live aspect of EDM, and in fact should come back harder with bigger live electronic acts. Chemical Brothers anyone? Crystal Method? Daft Punk!! okay too big. But there's lots out there. Infected Mushroom, The Orb, Moby, etc etc.
The electronic line alone has me shaking in my boots I'm so excited. I put everything dance related in the list: Empire of the Sun, Steve Aoki, Disclosure, Odesza, Lusine, Baauer, The Presets, Azari and III, Four Color Zack, OC Notes, TEED, Holy Ghost, Laidback Luke, John Talabot, Yppah, Matthew Dear, Suuns, Baths.
Downright impressive, especially considering we're short one huge headlining electronic name yet to be announced™ (I hope)
Thank you for making this post! I was already stoked on Disclosure, EotS, Presets, MD and LL but -
Odesza - really like their stuff, thanks for pointing them out Lusine - Didn't even see this on the bill, I love Two Dots! I play the Nic Fanciulli remix out some times. Azari and III - Just awesome! Now looking forward to them. Four Color Zack - Interesting.. A mashup guy kinda like Girl Talk? Might check him out. Will probably check Baths out too.
Oh and if anyone can tell me when/where Molly will be playing that would be lovely
You know why there's less cheesy EDM on the lineup? Because its cheesy and people have Dr. Garbanzoured out that it is in fact terrible. That's why.
After initially digging in to this lineup, there is some really really amazing electronic music, by some incredible producers but its just not going to have that same oomph for a lot of people. Dig and you will find it. It's there, and way better than the shit everyone is trying to pass off as decent electronic music right now.
I get this this is mainly an indie festival and I am not looking for, "cheesy EDM" I have just been following line ups from past years and wish there were more of those unique type of acts like Beardyman or Massive Attack. The thought of Portishead being there this year got me really excited.. I was just hoping for something big. There was also a rumor of Infected Mushroom being on the line up at one point.
I've been doing some digging and have found some decent artists so far.
So there was some components of electronics within their chunes but yeah certainly not to the extent of SMD. Laidback Luke on the other hand...
I will be there for LL for sure. I don't like his productions that much but he is a very talented DJ. Not quite what I would consider a live act, but still will be one of the artists I am most looking forward to.
