P THE MAN. they only do killer shows. i've seen them three times and they are probably still my number one band to see. once you see them live you understand why they are so great.

so i got tickets to the broken social scene show in nyc on friday night. there was no opener. webster hall was packed. i got up to like 20 feet back. i was so antsy i couldn't stand still or stop grinding my teeth. it was so awesome. the lights drop, and 7 guys roll out on stage. (the 6 touring members and 1 of the horn guys playing a second snare and cymbals). the place was so loud it was ridiculous. they broke into world sick and lisa came out half way through to play some keys.
jason shaw came out on cause=time. so naturally, emily haines was in the house and came out for anthems for a seventeen year old girl. and they played sentimental x's for the first time ever live.
everything they played was incredible. the old stuff was perfect. the new stuff sounds awesome live. and lisa is incredible live. she is amazing because she will step aside for emily to come sing and she knows people cry for feist to come back but doesn't let it bother her. her voice is absolutely incredible and she and kevin have it all figured out so well.
broken social scene is one of the best things to see live. you better scream your face off when they ask you to.
SETLIST: World Sick, Stars & Sons, Texico Bitches, 7/4 (Shoreline), Fire Eye'd Boy, Forced To Love, Art House Director, Cause=Time, All To All, Sweetest Kill, Anthems For A Seventeen Year Old Girl, Sentimental X's, Almost Crimes, Water In Hell, Ungrateful Little Father, KC Accidental Encore: Meet Me In The Basement, Lover's Spit (by democratic vote between lover's spit, superconnected, and major label debut)

The National vs. Hold Steady vs. Why? HI. I have never seen the national so i'll be there for most of it. I saw the hold steady in a small bar in PA a month ago. They just got rid of the accordian/piano player franz for the new album which is a huge loss. But the new stuff sounded great and they have a good loud rocking festival sound. I would national for the first 45 (or all of it if it's awesome for you) and catch the 45 or 30 of the end of the hold steady. You don't need an hour of the hold steady to let it sink in. Pavement vs. Dirty Projectors Dirty Projectors are so talented it is unreal. My friend saw took my tickets when i couldn't go last year and was astonished. I wouldn't leave their set early. Dr. Dog vs. Craig Robinson Are Dr. Dog's shows memorable? Pretty big fan, but find with their style of music the live show could either be great energetic fun or just kind of boring. Anyone seen Craig Robinson stand-up? Funny? My sister said Craig is awesome. HOWEVER. I have seen dr. dog and I might see them thursday again. They are awesome and I would not miss them. I have some friends that love rock rock (tool, police, van halen, ween, etc) and they all came with to see dr dog and loved their live show because they rocked and were only 'meh' on the albums. they take all their music to the next level playing live. Rounding out their tour at sasquatch will be incredible. Don't miss Dr. Dog. I promise you won't be disappointed. Oh, P.S. I saw MGMT... at Coachella and they kinda blew me away. The new album sounds really good live. Awesome news. I was scared. Last year at APW the best thing they had going was that everyone was dancing around me in the front which is more the crowd and less their music.

i love the love. last p the man show i was at there was heavy crowd movement. not full-on mosh. but there were definitely times when we moved more than 5 feet. the guys all around me were drunk, but i was pretty buzzed so it was a sweet time. the time before that no one even moved.
which crowd are we going to be?

i totally agree. i think they spent the last month working on the app and it's a beautiful app for the phones. but there is no reason to not put the lineup on the website. it doesn't make any sense.
..maybe they are still having issues with the stage name ('wook' and 'bigfoot' are pretty lame) and they want george lucas to MC the 'wookie' stage for a day.

can we not say it is an itunes festival app. where is the droid love?
people always say "do you have your ipod?" i say "no, ass face. i have my creative zen mp3 player that is much more compatible with my music, my computer, and my heart. fuck you, your ipod, your digital rights, your shitty commercials, and your mom."
... regardless. the droid app is so awesome. upgrade to the HTC droid eris for free. best decision ever.

you really made an account for this? why would you come join the boards to ask a dumb question. you couldn't just search for this really dumb topic?
pavement is not a headliner because their audience isn't nearly the size of massive attack. nor do they have that arena light show.

my sister said craig robinson is awesome to see.
but that conflict still is not even close. dr dog live is definitely not something you want to pass up.

love how pitchfork gave it a 2.1. i feel like that is SO ridiculous. A 2.1! WHAT THE HELL. That can't even be listen-to-able. How can the new she & him get higher? i officially completely gave up on pitchfork that day for ever.

Update: Aziz and Nick Kroll out. Booka Shade moved to Wookie Late and the entire stage pooped earlier. Local Natives first band on the wookie stage on Sunday conflicting with Caribou! Two of the best albums out this year.. bummer. Local Natives into Cymbals Eat Guitars is the best one-two aside from BSS into the national. Attachments:

also, they are finishing up a writing session and going back to the studio in a week or two to start laying stuff down. although american ghetto was just released in march, it was kind of a b-side album to satanic satanist that was recorded over a year ago. they said we are in for 2 EPs and an LP this year.
