general CMJ buzz: Dale Earnhart Jr. Jr. I picked up the Dale Earnhardt jr.jr. EP, and liked it very much...however it's only four songs so not much to go on...has anyone seen a live show? i did catch a bit of one of their many sets, it was good but it wasn't great. the songs translated well live, but it seemed like they were way nervous. it was their first show of the week though so.. but i would definitely be interested in seeing them again if that helps

I saw Foo Fighters in 95' I probably saw them the same tour. It was 1996 while still supporting their debut album. Ween and Jawbreaker opened. I've seen them once since with Weezer, so it isn't as big of time period gap for me. They don't suck live.they really don't. dave grohl knows how to entertain.

well it seems pretty clear: Radiohead is the obvious winner, but modest mouse is in a close second. couldn't we could come up with something a little more original than that?! I'm so sick of hearing about radiohead. It's like radiohead this radiohead that. I'm beginning to think this band doesn't exist. maybe we should just call this forum the unofficial radiohead fan board. more original than the most original band making the best music in the world? i hope this wasn't posted months ago. i just saw it last week AND FELL IN LOVE. plus, sasquatch needs to tap into the large latino population in the NW.

Mine are all common. I grew up listening to classic rock backs that weren't together anymore. But all recently I've seen: The Wailers The Who Van Halen John Mayer Rush probably not even close to unique: Foo Fighters (FF/Weezer Tour anyone?) RHCP Andrew Bird counts too, he's sold out 1000+

if i come again, el duderino, i should be able lend a hand to that self-wankery.
god that's inappropriate.

Also Mars Volta... While not a punk band, they really really suck. this is laughable. but i admit, they have some shitty shows. however, if the volta grabs deantoni parks it would be worth it just to see him drum. this is an omar work in progress and the drumming should make you wet.

I just saw delorean tonight and they were awesome. They'd put on an great set in the dance tent baths would be awesome too. I've listening to Cerulean way too many times and need to see him live i caught a few tracks of delorean opening for miike snow and it was great. i wish miike snow was so much later in the night last year.. they are killer in a venue. if delorean does come i hope they don't get an afternoon outside.

The only thing really stopping you from carrying a fucking watermelon around for twelve hours during a music festival is common sense. Wouldn't really have to carry it around. The crew I go with set up on a spot on the hill, and there's usually somebody hanging out there at any given time. Plus, between ten or so people, no way it even lasts close to twelve hours. i heard it turns into a leathery football if you leave it out in the sun that long

#1 - on topic when radiohead dropped in rainbows in 07, it was abrupt, but we kinda knew they were writing for a while. radiohead headlined festivals in 08.
we know radiohead is writing their new album since their trip to LA back before the summer. radiohead could have easily been booked for the show if we are assuming they are already booked.
#2 - going back to the off topic cymbals eat guitars are incredible. the sasquatch show had some new songs, end of a long tour, and 0 crowd energy (i tried all i could). but the other 2 times i saw them, one last month in philly, were great. talked to joseph after and they are taking a year to a year and a half off to relax and write and take it from there. they were spent from touring.
but as for the pitchfork hype statement that i agree with... phantogram blows. so does sleigh bells, and cults are boring too. i was at CMJ and i saw baths a bunch of times and HOLY SHIT. he has a little more credibility after being invited to spin with flylo and stuff, but he is the quintessential bedroom composer and definitely a major exception to the rule.

hey i'll repost this since this is a good spot for it.
so i got tickets to the broken social scene show in nyc on friday 5/7. there was no opener. webster hall was packed. i got up to like 20 feet back. i was so antsy i couldn't stand still or stop grinding my teeth. it was so awesome. the lights drop, and 7 guys roll out on stage. (the 6 touring members and 1 of the horn guys playing a second snare and cymbals). the place was so loud it was ridiculous. they broke into world sick and lisa came out half way through to play some keys.
jason shaw came out on cause=time. so naturally, emily haines was in the house and came out for anthems for a seventeen year old girl. and they played sentimental x's for the first time ever live.
everything they played was incredible. the old stuff was perfect. the new stuff sounds awesome live. and lisa is incredible live. she is amazing because she will step aside for emily to come sing and she knows people cry for feist to come back but doesn't let it bother her. her voice is absolutely incredible and she and kevin have it all figured out so well.
broken social scene is one of the best things to see live. you better scream your face off when they ask you to.
SETLIST: World Sick, Stars & Sons, Texico Bitches, 7/4 (Shoreline), Fire Eye'd Boy, Forced To Love, Art House Director, Cause=Time, All To All, Sweetest Kill, Anthems For A Seventeen Year Old Girl, Sentimental X's, Almost Crimes, Water In Hell, Ungrateful Little Father, KC Accidental Encore: Meet Me In The Basement, Lover's Spit (by democratic vote between lover's spit, superconnected, and major label debut)
