IF THE JAMES GREATEST HITS ALBUM IS ANY INDICATION OF THE QUALITY OF THEIR OVERALL DISCOGRAPHY I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR IT FROM SOMEONE WHO IS FAMILIAR WITH THEIR MUSIC. FUCK. IF THE COACHELLA BOARD STILL BEING DOWN IS ANY INDICATION OF, nevermind, FUCK. I missed you.

2. James. Oh my God, James. I'm listening to their greatest hits and smiling ear to ear. Why was this band never 100 times more popular than Oasis and Stone Roses combined?? This is Brit-rock at it's absolute finest, in my opinion. If the rest of their discography is as good as the songs I'm hearing on this album then I not only have a favorite new find in the lineup, but possibly a favorite new band in general. I hate that I've never even heard of them up until meow. Prediction: The rest of James discovery will not be as good as the songs you're hearing on their greatest hits.

He had some choice words about the festival during a Pavement show last summer as well. EDIT:I had no idea that that smiley is what happens when you put 3 questions marks in a row, so just interpret that as, ya know, 3 questions marks in a row. Back when I used to write reviews of shows, I wrote a Pavement review which I'm pretty sure you read. I don't recall exactly what Malk said, but it was something to do with how Sasquatch is meant for little kids.

So if Primus did in fact play 4 sets, would you see them all? Yes. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR PRIMUS TO PLAY FOUR SETS BECAUSE PRIMUS IS PLAYING ANOTHER FESTIVAL THE SAME WEEKEND. WHAT, DO YOU THINK THEY ARE DJ ANJALI OR SOMETHING?

Just blindly throwing out numbers that no one except myself will agree with... Assuming there are 65,000 passes available each weekend, I would guess the presale last June sold 50,000 passes weekend one, and 15,000 weekend two. I recently noticed on Songkick the amount of people stating they are attending weekend one is 404, and weekend two is 127. Last.fm has 348 going to weekend one, and 108 going to weekend two. Know: 50K/15K=3.33 Songkick: 404/125=3.18 Last.fm: 348/108=3.22 Obviously Songkick and Last.fm mean nothing, but it is interesting it shows a random selection of internet nerds stating they are attending the festival on two different websites show weekend one has slightly more than three times more attendees than weekend two. So what does this mean? Since weekend one passes are still technically available, the above numbers suggest there are at least 45,000 tickets still available for weekend two. Sketchy math, you bet. A point made nonetheless.

Does three Canadians responding to Hey Rosetta while the Americans talk about gifs mean Hey Rosetta is Canadian? I'm going to say yes.

I hope to god stephen malkmus and the jicks is no where near the Gorge on Memorial Day weekend. After having the Jicks moved back so they were playing opposite the Cure because of the Kooky Kooks, then giving Pavement's headlining slot to Massive Attack, I doubt Malkmus will ever be back. He had some choice words about the festival during a Pavement show last summer as well. EDIT: Hmm, I guess that would have been two summers ago.

make no mistake, Pulp makes the lineup for me... but I am willing to admit that having Dre/Snoop on the lineup doesn't hurt. (what an odd contrast of artists) and sure, maybe you're right - that this is Pulp's only show. it's possible. However, I personally suspect that Pulp will be playing a few more shows in the Americas this spring/summer. something sort of like: Coachella/Mexico City/Rio/Bonnaroo/New York City. While Coachella may pay a lot of money, I can't imagine Pulp, a band that hasn't been in the US since 1998, would come over to this side of the planet just to play 1(technically 2) events. I think if Pulp are actually going to make the effort to cross the pond, after all these years, they're gonna make more than one apperance. I thought the same thing when Portishead played in 08, but it took until last year before an actual tour or any other show occurred. Here's hoping tho. They were simply sublime at Primavera last year. I can't wait to see them one more time. Alright homies, I haven't given my overall opinion of the Coachella lineup yet, but Stamper and Andimac's opinions have me spewing shit that might become knowledge but will probably be discounted. Jarvis Cocker is gigantic. He doesn't need Pulp. He can tour the U.S. whenever he wants to. He is doing the rest of Pulp a favor by even allowing this to happen. Portishead doesn't have that one front person who can do whatever they want. They are a rare live band, but did they ever break up? They make money collectively, which is opposite of Pulp. Coachella knows they have a lot more money to spend on the lineup this year, because they already know how much extra funds they will make with the two weekend deal. It's a lot. That is why they can afford to pay Pulp to play one last set, and Jeff Mangum/GYBE to play an outdoor festival they would otherwise never play, and the Weeknd to actually leave his hometown to play a festival, and At-The-Drive-In to get back together and play, and Dre/Snoop to headline, and David Guetta to not headline even though he is the second biggest name on the lineup, and... My point is, Pulp is done. Coachella gave them a boat load of money, like they gave everyone else who shouldn't be there a boat load of money. They have an extra boat load of money available, and they did it right.

This sounds exactly like my weekend, except replace The National with my work's holiday party and vodka with rum. Not looking forward to my first shift back since the party.... Yikes, I came to the realization about ten years ago that no matter how much you like your coworkers, getting drunk with them is never a good idea.

I must say, as great as this lineup is, if Pulp was missing, I would have been let down. It already felt like their reunion was over, and they would never play in the states. I expect this to be their only U.S. performace, cause Coachella gets real paid.

I would have still had those texts if I hadn't gotten a new phone. I remember us having a few funny text exchanges that weekend. The one about you having to do Animal Collective alone had me in stitches. As did your reply when I asked if you were taking a Naptional. This one's PG-13, so I'll post it, "Im SHITFACED DANCING TO NATIONALLL." Part of what made it so funny was that I saw you maybe an hour and a half earlier, and you were completely sober.

Also, didn't we establish at one point that Ween-lovers hate Sonic Youth and vice-versa? I can gladly say that I love both. Yeah I still don't get that. They're two completely different bands. That's like saying all Daft Punk fans hate Leonard Cohen. It's just a theory HG came up with. He isn't saying it is literally impossible to like both, but it's amazing how often it is the case. Yes they are different bands, but the Daft Punk comparisson isn't the same at all. Ween and Sonic Youth were both "alternative" bands playing in about the same era, so it makes sense fans of one band would like the other, but they generally don't. That is why it's so funny. Of course people in their 70s who dig Leonard Cohen probably dislike all EDM, not just Daft Punk, and 95% of Daft Punk fans probably couldn't name a Leonard Cohen tune, so that is much different. If you asked people who have spent hours listening to each, I'm sure most would say they like both. Ween v. Sonic Youth is different. I try it whenever either band is mentioned, and always get a kick out of the response.

If I knew about the Arcade Fire balls before it happened, it would have been lame as hell. "Something massive is happening above the stage!" Actually, it was this: "Are you at arcade fire? Something is happening over the stage." [Pea reply hidden to protect the innocent] "Huge crain with a 50 foot box hanging over the stage. Full of confetti maybe." [Pea reply hidden to protect the innocent] "The box is huge. Almost half the width of the stage, and 25 feet high." I was wasted.

Just out of curiosity, why did everyone here's collective mind gravitate towards weekend 1 as opposed to weekend 2? I would wanna go to weekend 2 if it were not for the fact that everyone else is going to weekend 1 and I'd be alone. Have you ever recorded a sporting event, and had to tell everyone not to tell you anything about it so it doesn't ruin the surprise. Actually, I'm not sure you like sports, how about a episode of Curb? If I knew about the Arcade Fire balls before it happened, it would have been lame as hell.

It is will call only, you can still order online though. Will call just means they won't mail you a ticket, you pick it up at the box office the day of the show (I assuming you know this, but maybe not). I didn't realize that was an option for will call. Well that's a lot more convenient. It's rare, but it happens. I went to a will call only NYE show two weeks ago, and tore my place apart looking for my tickets as the cab driver was waiting for me. I had two months worth of unoppened mail (many concert tickets), so I was tearing everything apart. I called the venue, and they didn't know if it was a will call only show, and couldn't verify if my name was on the list. Fuckers.
