The thing I really liked was how they gradually showed you more and more of what they could do with the lights until I was tripping balls. It was awesome. this is how I felt while seeing deadmau5 last year. never seen Daft Punk yet but I really hope they'll show up.

Damn, I had a ticket for the Portland show but I already gave it away. Was planning on going but I had a major schedule conflict and now cannot.
However, I do get to see Mogwai instead, so it's not all bad.

of course. on the other hand, the black keys are pretty derivative and don't do much new with the genres they play.

the next US black keys show is here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mesa_Amphitheatrethey're not exactly small. Probably pretty close to the popularity of ween or massive attack, just a different audience. I would concede that Massive Attack is more popular on a worldwide scale but they've also been around way longer.

ebay is one of those people who thinks that if he likes a band, they're probably the biggest band in the world. not really sure where this is coming from, especially considering most of the bands I go to see are hardcore bands that play really small venues. Murder by Death is one of my favorite groups and every time I've seen them headline the club is half empty

I just can't bring myself to watch comedians at Sasquatch. Bring Mitch Hedberg back to life and bring him to the fest and I might just change my mind. Rob Riggle & Patton Oswald were both hilarious, and a good way to chill and get out of the sun between big sets. Bobcat Goldthwait was a strange but intriguing thing to experience.

I think they have a similar drawing power as a band like Massive Attack. They are way more accessible to an American audience (not in terms of their music but their availability and tour schedule), but they have been steadily gaining in popularity and have a ton of fans, in the northwest especially.
At the very least I see them being more popular to a general audience than I do Ween or My Morning Jacket.

That being said, I'm pretty sure if MMJ or Pavement were to play here they'd be playing that same 2000 seat venue...so that my not be the best measuring stick. Exactly dude. What counds as 'big' for you guys? It's not like there's really THAT many bands that could sell out an arena; Radiohead, Kanye, Arcade Fire on a GOOD night if they're lucky... U2, Gaga, Stones, Who, Green Day. Am I missing any? What are you really expecting? Arcade Fire is almost sure to be there; more than one off that list won't happen ANYWHERE but Coach and Lolla, and half those names NONE of us want anyway. Almost all of the headliners from the last five years have been roughly Pixies caliber. Every once in a while they land someone big: R.E.M., NIN, etc. Barring something major, you're getting the AF set you all have been bitching for for all these years, so there's your R.E.M./NIN for '11. If you think Squatch's lineup is going to beat Coach's in terms of star power, you're fucking delusional and that's that. Let those of us who aren't fucking human weathervanes when it comes to music have our Pixies and our Ween. a big name headliner to me is something like Daft Punk, the Black Keys, Soundgarden, the Pixies, or the very unlikely chance or Radiohead. Arcade Fire have never really appealed to me but if they show up I'll probably check em out anyway.

could anyone actually envision Murder by Death playing at Sasquatch? I feel that they play a style of music that would be well received, although they still manage to lie beneath the indie mainstream despite having an active touring schedule and constantly releasing music. Also, they are not currently booked in April or May.

agreed. wish my girlfriend at the time thought the same thing. she "got bored" so we had to leave their set early. should have left her there. That sucks though. Makes me thankful that my girl likes Explosions, whom, I hope make a return this year. If they were able to play mainstage in the evening or at sunset, it would be mindblowing.

You mean, like, not discuss it on a public forum? Another disadvantage to living in Idaho: you still have to be paranoid about smoking weed. I love being able to smoke weed on the street in the middle of the day. I love Portland. fuck and yes. +1 for portland this little "competition" sounds fun, I'm most definitely bringing lots of sticky buds to pass around and enjoy.

They're probably too similar musically to the FF's to headline, but I would love to see Queens of the Stone Age somewhere this year. They seem attainable. I know they are playing a fest in Australia in February, as a sub spot they would be good.
I can see Cake possibly headlining. They've been seemingly more active in recent times and would be a good draw.
As for Daft Punk, I am holding out hope that they will make an appearance.
Also, I'll be surprised if Ratatat doesn't show up as a subheadliner. They've been building in popularity over the past few years and seem attainable price wise but have never been to Sasquatch before,

The first time I heard these guys I knew they would be kind of a love em' or hate em' type group. For sure, some of their songs are hit or miss, and they certainly have their standouts. But like know id mentioned, they released nearly 3 hours of music this year alone. Not even Portugal. The Man can boast that. There is bound to be some good and some bad. Here are some tube links to what I think are probably the better tunes so the people in doubt of them can get a idea of what they are capable of. They deserve much better than comparisons to Hollywood Undead and LMAFO.
