That makes things more clear. That's one reason I love AC so much - they're a really dynamic group of musicians and songwriters.

For some reason when I first heard that song I thought they were saying "Fuck Brian Eno" or something along those lines. I was like DIRECT VIOLATION

When does the tour start? There NEEDS to be video from the first show so I can see some new Animal Collective.......People who are going to Coachella! You must document this with accuracy...

I dunno- maybe I would have appreciated AC's show more in '09 if they played at night.

One of my best friends hates Animal Collective for one reason: "I hate their voices and the way they're recorded." Discuss.

JWW's friend has an opinion about Animal Collective.
Welp, I'd say that's all the discussion we'll get. Locking the thread.

Ok, what I'm really trying to say is, of all the things you could not like about Animal Collective, Avey and Panda's voices? That's fucking insane. Maybe I could see him thinking they're boring, but their voices? What the fuck? Such beautiful voices.

Nah, I can definitely see how someone wouldn't like their vocals. I love them myself, but they definitely are unique.

Some people prefer the American Idol-style vocals - well-trained, perfectly pitched, blah blah blah. I admire that sometimes, but I love AC and Arcade Fire and Radiohead and others because the vocals are so emotive and raw. It makes you feel the music. That can go overboard, of course, like Rural Alberta Advantage (at times, though I love them), Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Bright Eyes (is that still in place?), even Jeff Mangum gets annoying sometimes. Some people have zero tolerance, though.

And remember, half the world hates Bjork, can't stand to listen to her sing. I'm sure half the people on the board feel the same way. That, to me, is fucking crazy. I feel the same way about Joanna Newsom, and over half the people that hear her can't stand her.

I'm a huge fan of singers with unique and even obscure sounding voices, but Joanna Newsom is one that I can't for the life of me enjoy.

It's not like he's saying, "Gosh, Animal Collective is unoriginal," which of course opens the door to "You pedestrian scum, don't you know what soundscapes are?" Drew raises a good point here. (Sorry, Know.) You can't make someone like a voice. Also Bjork is unlistenable.

Quick question related to AC. I just started listening to them and so far I really like Strawberry Jam but I don't care for MPP. Any suggestions for what album I should listen to next? They have so many to choose I can't decide.

If you like Strawberry Jam but not MPP then you will likely enjoy their entire back catalog. Go with Feels or Sung Tongs next for starters.

A. Drew couldn't go. B. Man, maybe I'm in the wrong thread, but I've never seen any band utilize stereo panning live as much as Animal Collective. I don't think I was close enough to notice last time, but last night I was up front, and 'dem vocals was bouncin' back and forth between my left and right ears. DO THIS MORE, BANDS!
