Long time lurker with hopefully a meaningful thread.
Last year, 20% of the bands that played Sasquatch also played Coachella. I didn't look back beyond that but suffice to say there's an overlap between festivals each year. Now that the Coachella lineup's been released, perhaps we can make some more educated guesses/predictions on who's going to overlap this year?
Here's the list of people who overlapped last year: Vampire Weekend, Miike Snow, Edward Sharpe, The Middle East, Deadmau5, Pavement, LCD Soundsystem, Dirty Projectors, The xx ZTrip, Local Natives, Passion Pit, MGMT, She & Him, The Temper Trap, Portugal, The Man.
With no real basis for these predictions other than that I've yet to see tour dates in the NW, these acts seem more likely than others to me as being overlaps this year: The Strokes, Crystal Castles, Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears, Sleigh Bells, Bright Eyes, Thao & Get Down Stay Down, The New Pornographers, HEALTH & Lightning Bolt.

Interesting note. Here are my overlaps (in no particular order): Arcade Fire, Chemical Bros, Best Coast, Radio Dept, Chromeo, The Drums, The Kills, Bright Eyes, Morning Benders, Titus Andronicus, Warpaint, Cold War Kids, Cee Lo, Black Keys, Menomena, Two Door Cinema Club and 'Crystal Castlest'

my guesses for crossover. I'm not going to bother with the headliners or even the sub headliners.
Crystal Castles, Sleigh Bells, Cold War Kids, Skrillex, The Rural Alberta Advantage, Cage the Elephant, Elbow, Delta Spirit, Bloody Beatroots, City & Colour (due to cancellation last year), Foster the People, Menomena, Gord Downie.
If I had to guess at sub-headliner crossover, I'd say Chemical Brothers for a late night set, and likely Mumford & Sons on the mainstage. I'd also like to see DFA1979, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'd love it if Animal Collective shut down the Wookie one night.

I posted the other day that if DFA1979 ever reunited that their first should would probably be somewhere in canada, or at sasquatch due to their canadian roots.
But coachella? I was way off. The only reason I see them NOT playing sasquatch this year is if they beat the shit out of eachother during their coachella show.

Coachella and Sasquatch are two different things; two completely different crowds. Speculating about lineup overlap or getting your hopes up for an act that is at one to be at the other seems kind of futile, maybe? I mean, even that they're in roughly the same geographical region doesn't matter because they take place more than a month apart.

Seriously, who the fuck scheduled Animal Collective at 4:00pm on Saturday last time? Try seeing them at 3 in the afternoon on a hot, stanky-ass farm in the middle of nowhere Tennessee in June.

I enjoyed their set in 09 however, they looked extremely frustrated about the sun being in their eyes. If Coachella can have kanye/strokes, we should have flaming lips/animal collective

This is very quickly becoming another "wish list" thread, but if I had to pick one I'd vote for stamper's choices. Seriously, who the fuck scheduled Animal Collective at 4:00pm on Saturday last time? Seriously. I was really looking forward to their set, and even made an effort to get nice and close to the stage. About half way through I lost interest and went to the hill. I think if the sun had been down it would have been a different story. Give them a Bigfoot closing/late-night set this year!

For Animal Collective, I bet it's difficult to go from club-size venues that are dark and have the sound all bottled up inside to playing outdoors in daylight. The lights and the volume are really essential to AC's live set.
Not that they weren't incredibly loud at Sasquatch, but when I saw them at the Roseland here in Portland around the time of 'Strawberry Jam' the volume was just skull-crushing; like it really had a physical effect on you to be in such close proximity to such powerful noise.

I'll pick 5 from Coachella for Sasquatch
1) Animal Collective (I think they would shut down a stage at this point, no doubt) 2) Kanye West (Combined with the view and his sure to be nutso stage and light show, this will be some good festival fun) 3) The National (I'd seen them live a couple times before Sasquatch and was AMAZED at the significant strides they made, it was an entirely different experience. With an entire tour of High Violet under their belts now they would destroy in Vampire Weekend's slot) 4) Erykah Badu (But she would need over an hour at the least and I don't think that will happen) 5) !!! (Totally corny and cheesy but it would be very enjoyable if they played on the mainstage and I got to dance to them, they are always great live)

As much as I love them, I think Sasquatch has seen enough of the National for a little while.
