Only as long as it happens during WKD and the stage slides backward into the canyon.

He is fine, Drew, and thank you for asking. I was pretty freaked out. He said he got stranded at school all night because the trains stopped running, but luckily he is far enough away from the epicenter that he just felt it and was not in danger. He said they drank at school, and he is not really a drinker. I said that if there was ever a time to drink, I think that was it. That's good news. My friends in Japan say they haven't been able to sleep for more than an hour or two at a time because of the aftershocks, and they're spread all over the country. I have a friend who had to walk 4 hours to a shelter. Pretty freaky.

It is just insane. I have only been able to talk to him when I can catch him on facebook chat. My whole family is getting updates from me because he is a punk ass and won't just send an email. I am just so thankful that he was not hurt. I cannot remember another earthquake that has been this big since I have been alive.

Yeah, they say it's one of the five biggest since 1900. Shifted the Earth's axis.

BUUUUUMP! Any of you ladies have anything girly to say? I know there have been a lot of dress sales... Old Navy had one this weekend. I tried some on there, but I am so darned short that all of the hems fell funny on me.

I'm currently at some kind of death plateau in the diet. Which sucks. Makes me want to eat a bagel. I'll get through it though. I had to spend a bunch of money to fix my car, so next paycheck I'll buy a swimsuit and a swimming pass, and hopefully that'll get me back on track. I'm still losing inches though.. not sure why the pounds aren't going down. Also, nothing ever fits me properly because I have an exceptionally long torso, with tiny little baby legs. I can sit next to people that are half a foot taller than me and look taller than them while sitting. Makes it hard to keep up to people, and find shirts that look nice.

It's possible.. but I'm not really doing any more exercise than I have in the last 3 months. Technically I'm doing less because I weigh less, and therefore it's easier to do things.
Edit: I have a strange feeling I'm just retaining a shit ton of water.

Water weight is pretty insane. I lost 7 pounds in one weekend following some heavy drinking once. As soon as I rehydrated I was right back to normal.

Water weight is pretty insane. I lost 7 pounds in one weekend following some heavy drinking once. As soon as I rehydrated I was right back to normal. Mucho jealous. I wish it were as easy to lose weight for girls as it is for guys. Souly, don't get yourself down at all. Bodies and metabolisms work in funny ways. You've just gotta work through this plateau. Your body has probably gotten accustomed to the shock it took when you first started this diet plan. Now its time to introduce something else, so you can keep it "confused". I know you said you haven't technically been working out, but try going for a simple walk or do something you don't normally do physically 2 or 3 times a week. I'm not saying to lift heavy weights or run 1 hour of cardio, but doing something to change things up may get your body back into that weight loss mode. I know its frustrating! Regardless, I'm super proud of what you've accomplished thus far. Total props, girl!

Thank you!! I'm going to start swimming as next week. Work has kind of calmed down, and I'm to the point where I'm ok in a swim suit. I hope that moves things along for me! I'd really like to be close to my goal at Sasquatch.

Nice! There ya go, Souly! All of our earlier discussions of swimming really makes me wish I had a pool somewhere in this concrete jungle here in Pittsburgh. What is your goal weight for Sasquatch? I'm sure you'll get there. I've got a goal weight too. I'd love to be about 10-12 lbs thinner for the fest, and for my own happiness in general. I've started running again. I used to avoid running, but I actually really like doing it now. I'll just plop my headphones in and blast Phantogram on repeat. The weather is nice enough to start running along the nature trail along my apartment, too, which is great. And weight loss is second to me wanting to thin out my stumpy little legs. I played soccer for several years my legs were really muscular and toned, but now that I haven't played in a while, I've lost that definition and I'd love to have thinner legs. I heard running really helps that. That, and the hundreds of squats I do. (If anyone else has other suggestions, I'll happily take them! Keep me posted on how the swimming goes, Souly! I hope it helps get your weight loss back into movement!

There has to be a pool somewhere! There are pools everywhere here. All indoor of course! I was supposed to start today, but I spent the last of my money on a suit and forgot about paying to get into the pool. It'll have to wait till friday! My goal weight is 160, but that's not really realistic for sasquatch. I'd like to be about 180, but even that's a big jump. I think the most I've been is like 260, and that was probably 6 months ago. I lost quite a bit when I started my new job, but most of it has been recently. I'm about 215 now. This is really embarrassing to be posting on here, but I don't really mind. I'm going to have a big party when I get under the 200 mark. I saw my mom for the first time in 6 weeks and she was amazed at how I looked. Most of the weight has come from my legs I think, which look fantastic. I really would love to lose my tummy though, which will probably be the last thing to go. She took me shopping but I didn't want to buy anything yet. I did try on some really cute dresses though. I think I'm about 20 pounds away from looking fantastic in them.

Don't be embarrassed souly, we all struggle with our own issues. Unfortunately weight management is one of the more visible ones. Imagine what a smoker would look like if their lungs hung outside of the body! haha

Don't feel embarrassed! You can still be healthy and not be your ideal weight. And you can still be gorgeous without being thin. I think it is great you have a goal and are kicking ass, I just don't want you to feel bad about yourself! I never really join this conversation because I am not on any kind of diet or anything, but I think you should just be so proud of yourself and not be embarrassed at all.

Thanks guys! I have a pretty high self esteem for someone who's overweight I think. I'd really like to be healthy though, especially because the disease that causes me to be overweight can easily lead to diabetes, since both have to do with you pancreas being out of whack. I'd also really like to wear whatever I want, not just what they have at the plus size stores. I think I was just embarrassed because I usually don't give anyone numbers.

Update: First swim in like 4 years was a success! I went half an hour without stopping, but when I got out of the pool my legs kind of forgot how to walk. It was interesting for sure. I tried a few laps of my old favourite, butterfly, and had a crowd of 'old people' watching by the end. I thought it went well, but maybe they were watching because I looked retarded. Who knows. I'll be going back on Friday.

Congratz, Souly! That's so exciting. I'm glad to know you had unofficial supporters there by the end I highly doubt you looked retarded! The hardest part about being active and working out is getting into the routine. Once you're in it, though, working out is all that'll be on your mind. I remember I'd actually get excited[i/] about going to the gym when I started losing weight.
one thing that'll certainly help is placing your work out clothes (or bathing suit for that matter) on your bed or chair in your bedroom or somewhere else that is totally visible when you come home from work. That way, you won't be tempted to make an excuse to not go. Its there. Its in the open. Its easy to find other things to do other than schlep yourself to the gym. But when the blatancy is there, its harder to make excuses.

I think the hardest part is that I have to wake up earlier to do it. It involves being out of bed 3 hours before I 'have' to, to do something I don't 'have' to do. I'm feeling pretty motivated right now, but we'll see how that goes. I hate waking up early.

So I really apoligize for this becoming 'Souly's weightloss thread'. But when I uploaded the picture of me in my sasquatch tshirt I realized how far I've actually come. Before: ( This was 6 months ago) Now: And I'll shut up for a bit now.
