Heyy! Another girl here loving this girly thread! I was just trying to decide what I was going to want to wear to Sasquatch. I think I'm just going to grab myself a couple cheap sundresses from forever21 and old navy. Dresses to me are the most comfortable and the easiest to wear! Doesn't get much easier than the .5 seconds it takes to throw a dress over your head. I also like the idea of leggings for after sunset. I can't imagine wearing jeans all day there and not wanting to tear my legs off by the end of the day, so I think I'll be pretty happy with a few lightweight dresses. The shoes I'm not sure about...I'll have to go back and look through the links posted here again. I want something comfortable, but I'm also not trying to pull off the 50 yr old secretary skirt/sneaker combo. Has anyone ever used a dry shampoo? My hair is super thick and curly so I'm thinking I'll skip washing it during Sasquatch. Especially with cold showers, I don't want to be in there fighting with my hair for 10 minutes! Just a quick in and out body wash. Oh, hey there, heythere! I'm glad new boarders are participating in the Girly Thread! You've got some great suggestions/questions. I agree, sundresses are the best way to go. They're fashionable, easy, and comfortable. I really am not a big fan of Forever21 at all. They're cheaply made and the store is beyond overwhelming with their disorganization. I scored a ton of cheap sundresses from Old Navy, so I'd stick with that or keep an eye on Etsy's website for some crafty handmade dresses if you wanna spend a little more money. I would say that although the jeans thing sounds strange, temperatures drop drastically once the sun sets. And if you got a sunburn from earlier in the day, you'll be shivering. At least take a hoodie into the fest. You'll want it. I mentioned earlier in the thread that I'd change clothes completely when the sun set. I rocked the sundress in the day and wore jeans and a cute top at night. It wasn't the most glamorous thing changing in a port-a-pottie, but whatevs. Shoes! I cannot emphasize the importance of wearing for comfort. You're going to be standing and walking around all day. Go for some sturdy flip flops or some of Chuck Taylors. I wore my ratty converse one day and then some flops the others. Make sure you have shower shoes, too. If you don't like flip flops, go for a pair of TOMS shoes or Tevas. www.toms.com/ <--they do have a good cause and although the shoes are kinda pricey, the organizations gives shoes to underprivileged countries. Good for warm fuzzies I've always wanted to use dry shampoo. What a good idea! I also have pretty thick hair, so showers can take a while when washing my hair. Totally perfect festival bath: baby wipes and dry shampoo!! I may have to try that. I saw some good products at Ulta and Sephora. Honestly, I didn't get to take a real shower until the last morning. I don't know where you're camping, but premiere has long lines and the showers do get really cold, but it is in a trailer. You can also pay for showers, but I'd say to definitely stock up on baby wipes. I use those when using the Honey Buckets (port-a-potties) Anyway, I hope I wasn't too long winded, but I just wanted to welcome you to Sasquatch!

It wasn't the most glamorous thing changing in a port-a-pottie, but whatevs. Not that I'm a girl or anything but... if you wore a bikini top you could just put the pants on under the dress and then put your top on... BOOM! No porta potty changing necessary.

Or just change on the hill because no one cares.

Totally, I was just emphasizing that fact that I think that would be ok. Sure beats the honey buckets.

For sure. There's nothing like tripping out in a honey bucket. Maybe that's why I try and avoid bodily functions and changing over the weekend. Ha, one year I wore shorts with pajama pants underneath them, and kept them rolled up until it got cold. Then I was just the douche wearing shorts over pajamas...

Comfort over fashion, I usually say.

Thanks for the warm welcome!! What are the festival grounds like? I guess in my mind I was picturing it to be kind of dusty/dirty and thought I'd just pick up some cheap sundresses so they'd basically be disposable if they got really dirty or ruined over the weekend. I always forget to check out Etsy! Some of the stuff on there is so cute too! I have totally mastered the art of changing out of a dress in public without showing anything. I feel like I should teach a class on it! haha Oh my god, shower shoes. I would have totally forgotten about that!! Thank you! I've been wanting to get some Toms. I think I just found the perfect excuse to do so!! I also liked the gladiator sandals you (? i think it was you, sorry if I'm mistaken) posted. I'm really excited for the music, but to be totally honest, planning a new wardrobe is REALLY FUN. heh I love this idea and am totally on board!! I've heard some people say the dry shampoos they use leave a residue, so I'm probably going to have a trial run with a couple different kinds before May. I'll check back in and let you know how they worked for me! Thanks again for the awesome welcome! Can't wait to get to know you all over the next couple of months!

I always forget to check out Etsy! Some of the stuff on there is so cute too! Hey lady! Yeah - I also only get the F21 dresses as 'disposable' festie dresses. You're sitting on the ground, you're sweating (maybe), you're in and out of portopotties, etc. etc. No sense in getting a decent dress over $30 when you could be destroying it at a fest. Ive definitely purchased some $10 dresses from them online (C is right, their stores SUCK), worn them once or twice and then cut them up and used the fabric for crafting projects. Some other places to check out are Target (their "swim suit cover ups" are actually GREAT fest dresses), Old Navy (like Catherine says, they're cheap, but not cheaply made), and Ebay. Yes, Ebay. Just search "sundresses" and search in the stores - not peoples personal sales. Im also gonna be getting a few pairs of leggings for the evening. You roll those bitches up and jam em in the bottom of your bag - BOOM - temp drops and legs covered.

Ok.. So, I was a little embarrassed to post about this before, but since I have some of you on facebook, I might as well. I've started a new diet, mostly for me, but part of it is for Sasquatch! I want to wear these lovely sundresses you all talk about. I've known for awhile that I have really high insulin levels, which converts all of the carbs I eat directly to fat, and stores them. This makes it really hard to lose weight unless you stop eating carbs. I have reduced my carb count to less than 20 grams per day starting on Monday, and have lost 5 pounds this week. I'm really excited about this and kind of mad at myself for putting it off for so long.
Anyways.. I just wanted to have somewhere where I can post about this, and why not the girly thread! Diets are what we do!

Work it, girl! That's really exciting. Congrats.
You should rock the sundresses with or without the diet, though. I'm working with some serious curves here and that's pretty much all I plan on wearing during the day!
I was doing Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred but I feel like it's messing with my knees and I've started slacking off. I need to find something else so I'm not doing it every day I think. I should also cut down on carbs but oh my god I just love them too much! haha.

It's really really hard.. But the good thing is that you can still eat meat and cheese, which is huge to me. It's just the bread, potatoes, rice, and sugar that's kind of killing me. But it's doable.

About how much is 20 grams of carbs? I can't picture it, but I imagine not much.
Did you feel like you went through a carb withdrawal? I tried to go carb free a long time ago and had a horrible headache and gave up.
Maybe I'll try it again...

Some stuff has a ton of carbs, but there's only one gram in stuff like cheese, meat, and most vegetables. But like one chocolate has 5, a piece of bread has 12, and english muffin has 30, and a box of macaroni has 120. Even fruits have tons of sugar, I don't know exactly, but I know for 40 grams of raisins, there's 38 carbs.
And I had 3 days where I felt like absolute shit. No enegry, my muscles hurt when I did anything, and a HORRIBLE headache and stomach ache. Today is day 5 and I feel fantastic. I have tons of energy and no pain. I'm really happy with the results so far.

I was doing Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred but I feel like it's messing with my knees and I've started slacking off. Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred is pretty much an ass-kicker. No shit. Circuit training is so intense! But if you take it easy on the knee-heavy circuits (so pretty much anything standing up?!) and really kick the floor circuits, you still get a great workout. If you know anyone with p90 or p90x, you can do workouts that dont involve your knees at all. But those are insane too! Working out is so awful. ugh. But I always feel so great afterwards. All that said - I also am rocking the sundresses regardless of what I look like come May. Its a fest! Be comfy! Get some vitamin D on yo' body!

Shaving tips, sundresses, weight loss discussions, Now this is a girly thread!! ;-) Thanks for starting the discussion, Souly--we were all thinking it, but thanks for getting the ball rollin'! I'll have to say though girls, it is so hard not to get self-conscious when thinking about sundresses and bathing suit weather--especially when there are 80lbs sticks out there who will wear booty shorts and skanky bikini tops at the fest. I wanna smack them! But if we're talking about tips, I've found that there are no crash diets, pills, or celebrity weight loss ploy that'll keep the weight off for good. For realz. I wish it were that easy. Limited carbs, no sugars, no meat, etc. I tried it all and just ended up gaining more weight in the end. I ended up losing 40 pounds my freshman year of college. (I'm only 5'2'' and I just looked awful and heavy. I wasn't happy at all with the way I looked). With the occasional fluctuation of 5-7 pounds on a monthly basis, I've managed to keep it off for the past few years. Its totally been a lifestyle change. Sure, I loosely count my calories, but it is so important to work out on a decently usual basis and to watch what you're putting into your body. I've been running a lot, but it is so cold in Pittsburgh that I can't get very far when it's like, 2 degrees outside without my face falling off. My favorite cardio machine, which I haven't found since I've moved from my favorite gym in Atlanta is the treadclimber: www.treadclimber.com/trc_microsite/productinformation.jsp You can burn a ton o' calories in a few minutes and it barely feels like you're working out. I've been on it for an hour or so before and burned over 800 calories. I miss it! The key is getting into an easy enough routine where you will be dedicated to working out. I actually enjoy my ab work outs and cardio training! Long story short, no need to stress. Curves are sexy and sundresses accentuate those curves--if you can find the right one. I would wear a sundress any day over getting sweaty in shorts. Just don't eat fried food every day, watch your calories, and get movin'! :-) (My personal weakness is fries and I drink a lot o' beer. Additionally, I just started a 8-5 office job and I'm afraid sitting at my desk all day will start making me a little fluffy) I'm excited to go shopping for my clothes and I'm going to Sasquatch to have fun--not worry about what others think of my curvaceous booty in a sundress.

I understand what you mean about the crash diets and things, but mine's actually a medical condition, so according to my doctor, this should work. But only if I eat low-carb for the rest of my life. Which is very do-able. Once I get the bulk of the weight off, I can add a few more carbs in and be more active. I guess only time will tell if it actually works.
