Dude is one step away from becoming Billy Joe Armstrong. What does this even mean?

It means that the next logical step for Brock is to license his material to some kind of musical revue so that he can rest on his laurels for the rest of his life and never be required to write another good song. Just like Green Day, as soon as there was major mainstream success for Modest Mouse Isaac eliminated the open-vein ferocity that got them to where they are because now they're a brand name and nothing is required of them except to show up and play the songs.
Just compare whatever the hell that last record was called to 'Building Nothing' or 'Moon' and try to tell me we're even listening to the same band. I know you love em dude, but they are pitiful spectres of what they used to be and that isn't more apparent anywhere than in performance. I haven't heard Billy Joe sing 'Longview' lately, but I imagine it sounds just as fake and ridiculous as MM sounded last time I saw them.

I really enjoyed their last album. It was 10 times better than "Good News". I think as far as Isaac's live performances go I would say that he is a lot more sober these days than he used to be. I saw them 5 years ago and Isaac could barely remember the lyrics versus their Sasquatch performance when he actually looked functional.

All right... well, when he licenses his music for a broadway show, we can resume the comparisons to Green Day.

Yeah they were. Or at least they meant something at one point.

Insomniac was an important part of my early teens.
(And just for full disclosure, Lonesome Crowded West was an important part of my later teens.)

The last MM show I saw Isaac was looking/singing like he used to his energy was definitely there. And eric judy kept looking at him with a suprised smile. It was great!

I saw them play a show in London last September, and Brock was an absolute madman on stage. He was drenched in sweat by the time the show was finished. I don't have any frame of reference to compare it, because it was my first time seeing them, but it quite did it for me. Albeit, the setlist was a bit Good News heavy, it still had a good chunk of early stuff. www.setlist.fm/setlist/modest-mouse/2010/troxy-london-england-53d5eba9.htmlCowboy Dan and Baby Blue Sedan were definite highlights, and though it's not normally one of my favourite songs, Spitting Venom was great live. I can't wait to see them again at Sasquatch. I'll definitely be up as close as I can.

Man, I certainly hope that Horned Gramma's opinion doesn't represent the mass feelings towards MM nowadays. Because even the recent stuff (We Were Dead, Good News) is better than 95% of the popular music being spewed out of car radios nowadays, and the stuff before that was master class. I understand that the general consensus is that older Modest Mouse is generally better, but that doesn't make the newer stuff bad by default.
The Lonesome Crowded West is my favorite album that I've ever heard, but songs like "Parting of the Sensory" and "Bukowski" are up there with some of my favorite tracks.
Anyways, I'm super pumped to see them play.

While I'm not exactly certain "I'm pumped" for their show, I am more than slightly interested in seeing them again - I'm hopeful they'll put on a good show.

I have no idea if this is a stupid comment, but will this be one of the biggest crowds Modest Mouse has played for in a long time?
