It's no surprise when they bill you the other portion, they give an exact date actually (I think). I'll barely notice the $25 camping charge on my credit card. Without making sweeping generalizations about the type of person the layaway option appeals to, I believe there will be a few people who paid with their debit cards who won't have the sufficient funds to cover the rest in three months.
If you spent an evening listening to every band on the lineup, it means you probably didn't give any band more than 10 minutes. I usually like to spend a couple hours with each band before determining if I like them or not. I absolutely hated tuneyards the first time I listened to her last year, but loved it by the fourth listen.
Also, there is so much EDM I don't know, so I'm relying on others opinions for that aspect. I read on the Coachella board that Sasha is pretty amazing live. I'm looking forward to Sasha ----> Chemical Brothers Friday night, since the other upper tier acts that night suck.

These are the bands I'm looking forward to:
The Black Keys The Chemical Brothers Robyn Sasha Ms. Lauryn Hill Cee Lo Green Cut Copy Boys Noize Warpaint Tame Impala Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti !!! The Pains of Being Pure at Heart Titus Andronicus OFWGKTA Mount Kimbie
Arcade Fire Animal Collective Bright Eyes Empire of the Sun The Kills Suede BSS Erykah Badu Scissor Sisters Gogol LIL B The Twelves Mary Anne Hobbs
Kanye The Strokes PJ Harvey DFA1979 Ratatat Lightning Bolt HEALH Trentemoller Menomena
Last year I waited until the Sasquatch lineup got released before delving into Coachella's. Like last year, I skipped the xx and Vampire Weekend because I knew I'd see them at Sasquatch. PS last year was better only because the lineup was good from top to bottom. Beach House was on the bottom line because the lineup was so stacked.

If I do end up going, which would be awesome but which would likely mean I'll miss Sasquatch, which I don't want to do, but all I'd have to get for Coachella is the pass, while Sasquatch requires so much more in terms of travel, here is who I want to see:
Friday: The Black Keys Interpol Cold War Kids Sleigh Bells The Pains of Being Pure at Heart Titus Andronicus Cold Cave
Saturday: Arcade Fire Animal Collective Mumford & Sons Bright Eyes Broken Social Scene The New Pornographers The Swell Season The Tallest Man on Earth Thao with the Get Down Stay Down
Sunday: Kanye West The Strokes The National Death From Above 1979 Menomena
I predict that, when the schedule comes out, I'll wind up being able to see about 5 of those bands due to conflicts.

I usually like to spend a couple hours with each band before determining if I like them or not. This is true, and I will likely spend MUCH more time with the Sasquatch lineup than with this one, but with nearly 60 bands I already want to see and the Sasquatch lineup coming out so soon I think I'm fairly content with being ignorant to some of the other artists on the bill. Artists I'm looking forward to: Black Keys The Chemical Brothers (HOLY FUCKING SHIT YES. Most anticipated artists on the bill.) Sasha Crystal Castles Cee Lo Green Cut Copy Sleigh Bells Boys Noize (Missed most of his set at Sasquatch. Really excited I get another chance to see him.) Afrojack Flogging Molly (My name isn't Patrick for no reason) A-Trak !!! The Pains of Being Pure at Heart Monarchy Titus Andronicus Glasser Excision (Can I get a WHOMP WHOMP) Skrillex (Can I get some more WHOMP WHOMP) 12th Planet (MOAR WHOMP WHOMP PLZ) The Rural Alberta Advantage (Newly found favorite. These guys are AMAZING) Arcade Fire Animal Collective Mumford & Sons (Yea, I still like them) Bright Eyes (Part of me just wants to say I've seen them. Even if it's just one song) Empire of the Sun Steve Angello Broken Social Scene One Day as a Lion (I'll take ZDLR any way I can get him) Paul Van Dyk Gogol Bordello Spongle (FUCK, it's a DJ set. Oh well...) The Tallest Man on Earth (I mean, come on.) The Radio Dept. DJ Chuckie Thao with the Get Down Stay Down Here We Go Magic Trampled By Turtles The Strokes The National (Mat better bring the drunkness) DFA1979 Ratatat Jimmy Eat World (Junior high nostalgia, fuck off!) Bloody Beetroots Death Crew 77 (These guys are going to rip the face off everyone at the festival) Chromeo HEALTH Jack Beats Foster the People Angus and Julia Stone Trentemøller Caspa (WHOOOOOOMP) Good Old War

Also, aren't there usually a few metal bands on the bill? There isn't a single one this year.

I was hoping some of you guys who have been to Coachella before could give me some advice. I've been looking on the Coachella board, but I'm finding that board is kind of overwhelming. A friend just asked me to go to coachella with her. However, she asked me after camping was already sold out, and now a $75 camping ticket is selling for 400+ on ebay. I always consider sasquatch the best weekend of my year, and I have never been to another major camping festival. My first reaction was to buy my coachella ticket anyways, without having camping and just blindly assume that everything will work out fine. However, we live in BC, and my friend feels that it is a little too much money to spend and too far to go with no idea where we will stay. For anyone who has gone before, is camping on-site at coachella the same kind of experience as sasquatch? (as in worth it) Would I be better off to buy a hugely inflated camping pass and find people to split it with, or try to find other nearby camping? Any guesses on if scalper camping passes will increase or decrease in price based on previous years? Sorry, I know this would be better written on the coachella board, but I was hoping to hear what you guys think. Thanks.

The camping experience is pretty similar, but for those prices I would book a hotel room.

Uhh yeah. You can book a hotel for 60-70 bucks a night, split that with a few people and it's affordable. $400 is not affordable.

You're set to drop $700 on a camping pass and festival admission before you factor in travel and every other expense? What the hell do you do for a living, and is your employer hiring?

Fuck. yeah. wow. it cost me $800 total to fly to and from from South Carolina, rent a car for 10 days, and buy my tickets.

Thank you guys for the advice. I8- no, I'm not willing to spend 700 on a scalper camping pass. I wish. Might have split a $400 ticket with friends, or tried to find someone on the Coachella board to go in on it with but camping passes seem to be getting more expensive by the minute and are easily 600-700 now. Now I'm PMing coachella boarders who are offering to share their site in exchange for cash/a ride etc. If I'm going to go all the way there I think I want to camp on site and have the whole experience. If it doesn't work out I might just say forget it and be glad I bought my 'all-inclusive' Sasquatch pass good and early.

I8- just reread your post and realized 700 was a total amount. My bad.

Also, thank you for the reality check. I almost had myself convinced that paying 400+ bucks for a 300 square foot patch of field wasn't THAT unreasonable, I needed someone to tell me that it was idiotic. MUCH appreciated!

I would've been the same way, but in the long run, you'll definitely thank yourself. I feel ya.

So Coachella has apparently sold out? Barring any unlikely circumstances (e.g., Sasquatch has a terrible lineup, I go flat broke, I magically get a summer job that keeps me out of WA in late May, my girlfriend blackmails me into attending Coachella somehow, etc.), I'll be coming back to Sasquatch.

Yeah the only way you can get in now is if you buy a shuttle pass..
or buy a scapled ticket

Good luck scapling your own tickets, it's a lengthy process

Thank god this sold out. A group of my friends almost convinced to go with them this year. I really can't afford to spend $550 on festival tickets, let alone all the other expenses that come along with going. And I'd be losing from the extra time off work. Yeah, thank god this sold out.
