So I saw Know ID Yuh mention in the favorite song ever thread that it would be a better ID Yuh to name your top 40. This is because it can be hard to narrow it down to just one. Although 'I' can name just one, I thought it would be really cool to see how different peoples lists turn out. The thing about top songs in comparison to top albums, is that just one song has to be good not the whole album. For example my favorite song 'Tusk', comes from an album which I like very little, and plenty of my top 40 come from albums which aren't even good, and will likely be embarrassing. EDIT: There is no time limit on this, do not feel rushed. I just tried to to make my list, and got to #12 and realized that I had skipped what I listed as my favorite song. This may or may not have something to do with my current blood alcohol content. have fun! Rusty EDITED EDIT: if you cannot name 40, feel free to name as many as you feel like naming. thanks, Rusty **MOD'S EDIT** Destroyer's Top 40 (like it or die) grooveshark.com/#!/playlist/Top+50+Songs/68455406 Chud 40 grooveshark.com/#!/playlist/Chud+s+Top+40/68458732

I will do this. More than anything, my earlier comments were about showing everyone how terrible some of my favorite songs are. We are allowed to make fun of ourselves, right?
And I'm not going to rank mine, otherwise I would have a true number 1. It will just be a collection of crap. Then we can read through each others lists, and say things like, "holy shit, you like the Ballad of Bilbo Baggins too?"

Hm I think I might make a list when I have the time. It's going to be hard, but except it to be full of Porcupine Tree.

I love how the hyperlinks on this board are sort of hidden. I read this post and was like, "WTF? where the list", then it was all like, " IM RIGHT HERE MUTHAFUCKER!!! IM ALL CAPS LOCK AND SHIT!!!".

Modest Mouse has like, MAYBE 2.5 good albums spread out across their discography. I8, this is true.

Dude I have trouble with math too sometimes, but come on, learn how decimals work. You're correct when you mean to say that Modest Mouse has 25 brilliant albums spread across their discography... just learn where the dot goes!
(Anyone who tries to make a "they have a quarter of a good album" joke after this post accepts and consents to being shot.)

Anyone who can stand behind Modest Mouse's last two records I'm going to have a seriously difficult time giving any credit to.

I'm gonna cross this picket line on this one.
I FULLY STAND BEHIND MODEST MOUSE'S LAST TWO ALBUMS
I really liked We We're Dead.
Did the Modest Mouse worship and caps lock make you think I was I-8 for a second? I swear his caps lock button gets more use than his mouse.

While I'm on a roll, I've never listened to The Residents.

While I'm on a roll, I've never listened to The Residents. And I thought They Might Be Giants was strictly a Disney-channel band. I pirate all my music. Might as well go all the way.

And that 'We Were Dead' is a steaming pile of horse shit, and that Modest Mouse in performance is the portrait of a band selling out as far as possible.

I don't mind Modest Mouse's last two albums. Only "King Rat," stands out on their recent EP, but We Were Dead had a couple of my favorite Modest Mouse tunes. I don't listen to either album anymore, so neither is essential, but saying those are terrible is comparing them to their earlier stuff.
They are still unique compared to what else is out there. The fact they aren't as good as they were ten years ago doesn't make them bad. Sure their sound has become more pop, and many call them the definition of a sell out, but if We Were Dead was everyone's introduction to Modest Mouse, we would be talking about how good it is, because of the uniqueness of their sound.

Only "King Rat," stands out on their recent EP Well I just seem to be disagreeing with people today. Whale Song.
