I guess I have two favorite local breweries (Portland).
Amnesia would be the one I frequent the most. It is north of downtown in the Mississippi area (really close to the Mississippi Studios). It is a great place to hang out when the weather is nice, because they have a giant patio out front, and their bar food is grilled in the corner of the patio. The Desolation IPA is my favorite (IPAs in general are my favorites). I don't know what that place is like in the winter months, because the indoor houses roughly 30 people.
Lompoc would be my second favorite. I used to hit the New Old Lompoc on NW 23rd occasionally. Great food, and a nice outdoor patio as well. I've only been to the Lompoc on SE Division once, but I recall it being more of a restaurant.
Both places appeal to a younger crowd, and offer prime hipster watching (when in Rome). Most of the bigger breweries in downtown Portland have more of a Red Robbin family restaurant feel, so I don't hit those very often.

The Desolation IPA looks to be a little on the low side of IBU's for my taste, but I'm pretty intrigued by Amnesia. I'll have to check that place out whenever I make it down to pdx again!

Peatrick: It wasn't, but I'm sure that dude is equally cool.
Just got back from vacation (hi all), here are the places I went:
Full Sail in Oregon, NYE. Only people on the tour were me and my girlfriend. It ruled. I've never tried their Sessions beers before, but both were excellent. Really cool place, good people.
Rogue in Portland. It actually wound up being a distillery tour, which was neat. Drank lots of their beer. Santa's Private Reserve is so fucking good. They make a Chipotle Ale, which is worth trying a sip of, but I wouldn't suggest that anyone order it. Their Shakespeare Oatmeal Stout was delightful.
Widmer in Portland. Any tour that gives you a glass at the end is good in my book (Full Sail did this also). Also, any tour that BEGINS with free tasting is solid.
Deschutes in Portland. It was actually just an brewpub, no tour. Nothing comes to mind as remarkable, even though I know I've had their beer before and enjoyed it. I just drank a lot over the past week. I should have taken notes.
Happy 2011.

Session Red = Fantastic. Session Black = Little too syrupy for me. Rogue Santa's Private Reserve = One of my favorite holiday treats. Rogue Chipotle Ale = Agree with you. Worth a try but I'll leave it at that. Rogue Shakespeare Oatmeal Stout = Well, I already stated my love for a good oatmeal stout and this is no exception.
That's awesome you got to visit some great breweries. I need to up my brewery visitation game.

Did anyone else fall on their face laughing when they saw the "BEERS OF WORLD" stand at Sasquatch which included Corona, Heineken, and Molson?

The Rogue John John Ale is in season here in Pittsburgh (as i'm sure it is back West, as well). Love it. It's the perfect January NutBrown/Rum Barrel kinda beer.
Met one of the 'Johns' when I visited the Rogue Distillery last June. Nice guy.

Did anyone else fall on their face laughing when they saw the "BEERS OF WORLD" stand at Sasquatch which included Corona, Heineken, and Molson? they didn't even have Heineken! It was Corona, Molson and PBR! this is an ongoing joke to my girlfriend and I. After having been spurned at the previous beer stands we went to - we saw "BEERS of the WORLD" like a magic beacon... only to have our hopes crushed by that false advertising. classic.

I don't think it's humanly possible to not be a nice guy when you make alcohol for a living.

I suggest everyone bring a six pack of something to share with the others at the Boarders party this year.

This boarder party will be the best! We gotta make it happen every year. I'll try smuggling in some beer. I dunno if it's possible considering it'll be my first year.

Yeah, just remember, they kicked me out of the festival when I was underage drinking. (However, you should be perfectly fine in the campground.)

But anyway, I think stamper meant in the campgrounds, not in the festival itself.

i did mean the campgrounds. it'd be very challenging for everyone to smuggle six packs into the festival itself.

My friend smuggled in eight beers last year. I've seen more, but it was pretty impressive. She pulled the "all my girly stuff is in that pocket" trick.
