2 Things:
1. Seattlites, Molly Moon's has Chocolate Stout Ice Cream for a limited time and it's the business. 2. I got a Ninkasi 4 Pack, $14 at Safeway.

Picked up a couple brews last night:
Gigantic - The Time Traveler (Porter) 21st Amendment - Lower de Boom (Barley Wine)
Lower de Boom comes in an 8.4 oz can. Looks like an energy drink but hits you like...well...a barley wine.

I got my hands on some West Coast brew. This makes me happy. What do you think of that style? The belgian/IPA blend hasn't sunk in for me yet. It is very popular in Southern California (at least when I went to San Diego last time it was). In other beer talk, Elizabeth Station is a bottle shop in Bellingham. It has 5 taps and an excellent bottle selection. They just had their 1 year anniversary a coule of weeks ago. They actually did a collaboration beer with Two Beers Brewing (Seattle) and are selling it in the bottle. If you live in Bellingham it is worth a try. It is the first time I have seen a bottle shop collaborate with a brewery to create a beer. Pretty neato

It was pretty decent. It's hard to explain but Texas beers all have a certain taste to them. I don't know what it is because even when they use the same hops and malts as a good west coast beer the results are totally different. West coast beers are super smooth so this beer was very refreshing compared to the local stuff that I drink more often.
The strange thing is that most Texas breweries make damn good Hefeweizen. Some of the best I have ever tried. What's the deal?

Yesterday was a Bellingham beer day. Started out at Kulshan Brewing. They have added more taps so we got to sample more beers. I had a pint of the Midknight Kaskadian Dark Ale. If you find yourself in Bellingham make sure to give Kulshan a try. Moved on to outside drinking after that. Elizabeth Station supplied our treasure chest of delicious brews including: Two Beers/Elizabeth Station Walking Distance Rye Pale Sierra Nevada Torpedo Extra IPA Firestone Walker Sucuba Barley Wine Epic Ales (WA) Anniversary Party Time!!! (not my thing...) Bear Republic Racer 5 IPA Chuckanut Brewery Baltic Porter What a sunny spectacular day! Drinking beers in the sun = fucking perfect day. So much fun. Can't wait for summer

A family friend is the master brewer at Kulshan! His dad always comes over to gatherings at my parent's house and brings growlers full of new stuff or beers they're experimenting with. I'm a big fan of all their beers I've tasted, especially the winter seasonals they had a few months ago.
Last night I had a Three Creeks "Hoodoo Voodoo" IPA (from Sisters, OR) that was pretty great. I love NW beer!

They still have the kitten mittens winter beer on tap. I enjoy that one a lot. They also had this Christmas beer with spruce and fir tips in it. It overwhelmingly tasted like trees so a schooner was all I could handle of that one. I think it was called tenenbaum but I'm not sure.

Bear Republic Racer 5 IPA <3 I had never tried this before moving to San Diego, and now it's one of my go-to IPAs. Easy to find, relatively inexpensive, and delicious.

The kitten mittens was great because A. it tasted good, and B. it allowed me to make a kitten mittens joke every time I took a drink! (it's always sunny in philadelphia reference, just in case you haven't seen that clip).

THERE IS A BEER CALLED KITTEN MITTONS?!!? Is your cat TOO LOUD? Feed him/her some Kitten Mitto(e)ns! It will knock 'em right out. Last night picked up some bottles: Alesmith X Extra Pale Ale (San Diego pale. Super hoppy and tasty) Oakshire O'Dark 30 Cascadian Dark Ale I enjoyed both of them. I have been to Alesmith before and pretty much like everything they make. The O'Dark 30 is not my favorite CDA but still damn tasty.

Just finished planning a road trip in July and I am going to be hitting up Terminal Gravity (Enterprise, OR) after 3 days in Bend. Lots of beer sampler trays will be had!

ATTENTION FRIENDS FROM CANADA: Phillips Brewing relabeled their Phoenix Gold Lager and made 30 cases of Bison Beer (named after the band Bison BC). If you happen to come across this beer please pick up an extra for your good old pal you haven’t met (yet). If you can’t get an extra, get one for yourself and take a pic
