I have one for my zune, and it sounds alright, but sometimes it get's too much interference. I would also prefer something I could leave in there, and just have to worry about carrying a flash drive.

The companion album to the Philistines Jr.'s If a Band Plays in the Woods...? is apparently coming out on Monday. I guess this news was reported on Poochfuck: www.pitchforkmedia.com/news/44418-listen-the-national-cover-philistines-jr/...but I was delighted to read about it in an email from Pete and Tarquin Katis themselves. If you love music I suggest listening to the National's cover of one of the highlights from that record, "20 Miles to New Hampshire", contained in the link above. Beautiful.

Damn that's a tasty cover. Now I have to listen to the original album.

I don't know if someone already mentioned it, but I'm pretty excited for the new Atlas Sound record Parallax, out November 8th. I really enjoyed the first few released tracks, and I've been a moderate fan of most of what Bradford Cox puts out there. More good news, I read the "Premature Evaluation" on Stereogum today which said there a a bunch of tracks that could have easily fit on Halcyon Digest, if that is the case I'm sure I will love it. stereogum.com/861351/atlas-sound-parallax-premature-evaluation/franchises/premature-evaluation/,

You can order it from Amazon. They have a few copies, but as far as I know that's the only place you can get it -- I was told that it was never officially released, but a few copies seem to have gotten out anyway. In a week or so, though, it is going to be released as a 2xLP with the original album as well as the album of covers so maybe you want to hold out for that.
I just got my vinyl copy in the mail on Friday. It sounds just beautiful.

It's a phenomenal cover. There's a lot of other stuff on there I'm really excited to hear. I'm not huge on Frightened Rabbit, but their cover of 'My Brother Tom, The Green Beret' is really good. I can't even imagine what James Kochalka doing 'The Bus Stop Song' sounds like. And Mice Parade does one of those incredible instrumentals from the second half of the album; I think 'A Trip Down the Rooster River'.
So stoked. And I'm thrilled that you enjoyed that record -- it's so fucking good, it's just a secret that shouldn't be kept.

I still find it hilarious that I found a copy of "If a Band Plays in the Woods...?" for $1 or something absurd a week before it was even released. I'm certain it was a promo that the record store just tossed the fuck out, but there are no hole punches or scratched out bar codes or anything on the case. I think I'll pull it out and give it a couple refresher spins tomorrow.

Ha, I remember that. You sent me a PM saying, "Hey I found that album and it's pretty good" and I was all like "YOU BASTARD!".
