Wes Anderson always succeeds with kids. This is going to be awesome.

ooooh, fun! Rank your Wes Anderson (full-length) films
1. Bottle Rocket 2. Rushmore 3. The Royal Tenenbaums 4. Fantastic Mr. Fox 5. The Life Aquatic 6. The Darjeeling Limited

You would pick Bottle Rocket.
1) Life Aquatic 2) Rushmore 3) Royal Tenenbaums
Then there's a huge gap because I love those three but am ambivalent about the next three.
4) Darjeeling Limited 5) Bottle Rocket 6) Fantastic Mr. Fox
Don't get me wrong, I think those are three good movies, just not transcendent, in my humble opinion.

Rushmore Tenenbaums Bottle Rocket Fox Darjeeling Life Aquatic
...I have no use for Life Aquatic. It completely falls apart halfway through the second act.

Tenenbaums Rushmore Fantastic Darjeeling Bottle Rocket Life Aquatic
I probably like Aquatic more than I give it credit for here. It's a huge mess but it's a highly enjoyable mess

I don't know what it is about Life Aquatic, but it gets to my core. It's also my favorite movie period, not just Wes Anderson.
1. Life Aquatic 2. Bottle Rocket 3. Tenenbaums 4. Rushmore 5. Fantastic Fox 6. Darjeeling (note: I love this movie. It's just out of the 6, it's my least favorite.)

And you have to at least give the Life Aquatic soundtrack credit. Sigur Ros? Portugese David Bowie? Possibly the best use of "Search & Destroy" ever? Can't complain.

I'm with you. Life Aquatic touched my soul. The soundtrack is a major part of that.

Why does everyone hate Life Aquatic? I love that movie, but I haven't seen it in probably 6 years so maybe my tastes have changed.

I don't really like it at all. The relationships feel unnatural and the spontaneous violence at the end really sours anything sweet they might have been trying to convey.
I wish he'd start writing screenplays with Owen Wilson again.
