Finally got around to watching The Cabin in the Woods after avoiding 100% of the spoilers. Pretty awesome. That is one that people typically love or hate. Personally, I loved it. I watched it in the theater and almost jumped up and cheered at the ending. Avoiding the spoilers was crucial though, because I kept guessing at what was going to happen and I was so glad to be wrong.

Avoiding the spoilers was crucial though, because I kept guessing at what was going to happen and I was so glad to be wrong. Everyone kept telling me to watch it and avoid spoilers, which I did a great job of since I had no idea about anything going in except for the name. Avoiding spoilers definitely helped me enjoy the movie a lot more. I did not see most of that shit coming.

I saw Anchorman 2 last night. If you liked the first, you'll definitely like this one. It was way over the top, silly, and hilarious. I was skeptical about whether or not it would be any good, but I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it. Go see it!

Over my holiday break I saw a bunch of movies, which was nice because I hadn't really seen anything new since summer, except for Catching Fire with my girlfriend (which was actually pretty good). I ended up seeing:
American Hustle - Really entertaining and great performances from a great cast.
Inside Llewyn Davis - Always been a fan of the Coen brothers and this didn't give me any reason to stop being a fan. Great story and a fantastic soundtrack, plus a memorable performance by Oscar Isaac.
Anchorman 2 - As rustuuuu said above, if you liked the first one, you'll like this one as well. Lots of great cameos made it very enjoyable for me.
12 Years a Slave - Probably the best movie I've seen this year. Often horrific and brutal, but absolutely breathtaking.
The Wolf of Wall Street - So ridiculous and over the top. Leo and Jonah were absolutely flawless in what is probably the funniest movie I've seen this year. Scorsese did a great job with this one, making sure to present it as (somewhat of) a biopic while still providing enough satire to drive home a point. A strong contender for my favourite of the year, although 12 Years a Slave probably beats it and I still have a few more to watch.

On Saturday I went to a buddies house and watched the movie Sorcerer. It is directed by William Friedkin and I had never heard of it prior to Saturday. Totally a rad thrill ride. However, I still have no idea why it is called Sorcerer.

Alls I know is the soundtrack better be equally as stellar as my first CD ever. Quad City DJs? Barry White and Chris Rock? R. Kelly feat Reasonable Doubt era Jay-Z? I'm afraid the original can't be topped.

I'm bad at Oscars. This is the first year ever I've cared about the outcome of an award and it's because I liked three songs. But I like, really like those three songs.

I did my best ever on Oscar picks this year, got 21 out 24 correct! Fun show but kinda underwhelming. I liked Ellen's mingling in the audience, though she wasn't quite as funny as I was expecting for the intro. Overall, a decent year but no real memorable moments that will be brought up over the years to come.

I thought the Oscars were great this year but definitely unsurprising, no real upsets. I was worried they would allow Gravity to sweep but instead it won the awards it should have (give for take a best director award) and they made the right choice on best picture.

I knew they were making this, but forgot all about it until I came across this tonight. Something to look forward to after Sasquatch...

Ummm how did I not find out until just now that Bradford Cox was in Dallas Buyers Club? When I saw it I was like "Is that Bradford Cox?". But I never did confirm, until now I guess. That's pretty cool.
