That was their point. It was a little meta, in the sense that the denoument was a comment on contemporary cookie-cutter movie-making - the Coens were saying, we're not doing close-ups, one-liners, dramatic music, slow-motion, blah blah blah; we're just giving it to you straight up, because we think you're smart enough to know that this scene is important contextually and you don't need a hundred cues to alert you to that fact. I appreciated it. Yeah, I'm well aware thats what their intentions were with this movie, but that doesn't change the fact that the last third of the movie was "meh". Lately good westerns have been few and far between. I appreciate it for that alone. To be fair, part of my opinion has to do with favoritism... That being "Tombstone" for best western IMO. Oh, you're "well aware," I should have known.

To be fair, part of my opinion has to do with wanting westerns to be more like The Fast and The Furious movies ... That being "Tombstone" for best western IMO.

Tombstone is the worst western ever. It's like the Kings of Leon of westerns. True Grit was everything a western was supposed to be. And the WHOLE movie was about the bonds Maddie forms with Rooster and Lebeouf and vice versa (vice versa). You literally had this movie go way over your head if you have a complaint with the "action" parts. +1

Friendly D, Hell no! You are thinking of that other "H" guy. How did they get big in the first place? Also, I don't have complaints about the action. Just the part where it ends quick.
I haven't seen Quick And The Dead yet, but have been meaning to for awhile...

Which one of these movies would win in a fight: Tombstone, Road House, Point Break or Fast & The Furious?

Which one of these movies would win in a fight: Tombstone, Road House, Point Break or Fast & The Furious? None, because they are movies and movies can't fight.

I think my favorite western is The Proposition. Love that movie.
(though, perhaps it shouldn't count as it takes place in Australia.)

Well I can't answer it because it is a TRICK QUESTION. Patrick Swayze can't fight himself because of physics and black holes and stuff (EVERYTHING pretty much ends right there). But let's say it didn't. Okay, so now you have Kurt Russell who really, let's just mullet face it, IS a Swayze clone with a better filmography but with worse acting powers and equal to better beautiful hair powers. They pretty much tie on ROCKING A VERY BAGGY TUCKED IN SHIRT powers (but we already knew that anyway). So now you have the Swayzes (double throat eviscerating threat!) and THEIR Kurt Russell (just as handsome, only with better one liners) against a CAR. And we all know two Swayzes and a Russell beats a car every time. Plus one of the two Swayzes invented a dance move called the Too Fast Too Furious when that Honda was still in its prototype car diapers. So who wins? You tell me.

Anyway, back to arguing, it actually DOES change the "fact" (I think you need clarification on the definition of that word) that the last third of the movie is "meh," because it means that if you have a brain, that the last third of the movie is not "meh," it's as good as the rest of the movie. You're one of those people that loves to be spoonfed, a la Tombstone, your emotional responses in a film. "What am I supposed to be feeling right now? I can't tell! There's no music!"

What am I supposed to be feeling right now? I can't tell! There's no music! This part makes me want to hug you. And the answer to the question is: Point Break. Point Break would win that fight.
