I've always been confused as to how Hank III became the one pop country artist that is designated as 'cool'.
Go to the show. Then you'll understand. Three hour set that starts with a roots country sound and evolves ever faster and heavier as the night goes on. No other person on the planet can so seamlessly combine such traditionally different genres as county, punk, and metal into one set and have it all make sense. And not an ounce of "pop" in the building.

To give a little perspective, all three of these videos were recorded the same night, during the same show. Whether you like the particular style of music or not, it is undeniable that the man gives absolutely everything every night and everyone gets their money's worth. This also shows how he has been able to transcend the traditional "country" audience. Plus, he is genuinely t one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet in your life.

There is a Hank 3 show in Missoula as well. I keep missing him when he comes through, and with this show being fairly soon, I may miss this one too. He is one of the few country artists I can listen too. I know very little about country, but if anything, Hank 3 is anti-pop country. I like Ass Jack. It sounds like he probably plays some of the Ass Jack stuff too, since metal is part of the equation.
