Country, punk and metal occupy the bottom three spaces on my personal spectrum of favorite musical styles. My new life goal is to turn Grammama onto punk rock, starting with Melt-Banana and moving backward.

There is a Hank 3 show in Missoula as well. I keep missing him when he comes through, and with this show being fairly soon, I may miss this one too. He is one of the few country artists I can listen too. I know very little about country, but if anything, Hank 3 is anti-pop country. I like Ass Jack. It sounds like he probably plays some of the Ass Jack stuff too, since metal is part of the equation.

This punk gramma needs a horn. Also, I should listen to some TSOL.

Hey guys you should all see James Murphy with a crowd who is actually into it. Was there much of a crowd there? Or was it big and emotionless? Or just chatty cathys not wanting to watch the show? Just a weird crowd. Nobody really into it! I was able to walk right up to the rail half way through the show!

I cannot express how unbelievably uncomfortable Teri is going to make you feel while you love every single minute of it. Bosnian Rainbows were by far the best show I have seen all summer.

www.nokiatheatrelalive.com/events/detail/danny-elfmans-music-from-the-films-of-tim-burtonThe Hollywood Symphony Orchestra performing Danny Elfman's music from the films of Tim Burton. Elfman will be performing live for the first time since Boingo's farewell show in 1995. Singing, no less. I have tickets, but they represent one in a depressingly long series of attempts on my father's part to make up for being a tremendous asshole to me. So the decision to go or not is loaded with implications. I hate.

I was completely blindsided by that Bosnian Rainbows show the other night. I couldn't figure out what an act like that was doing at Dante's, when it seemed like they should have sold out the Crystal Ballroom. They were phenomenal. That woman is a fucking hurricane, which seemed almost unfair to the musicians behind her because they were all incredibly talented but I kept forgetting that they were even there at all.

Well shit if'n that ain't my fuckin' birthday. Nice. It's strange though. I've never seen the Roseland separate the floor, but there are two options for GA floor. $25 for all ages, and $45 for 21+. There's also balcony tickets. Any idea of how they're going to handle this? I want to be as close as possible for it. Edit: Whatevs. I bought an all ages ticket since it was cheaper.

They cram the kids in the corner, merch booth side. Teenage Zappa fans barely exist, so the show would be 21+, but Zappa's music is one of those educational experiences that dads like to bring their teenagers to. Putting them in the corner allows that. You won't have a chance to be in front of the stage, but $20 really is a significant savings.
