Is you "fairly reliable source" the festival schedule?
I don't look at shit like that. My fairly reliable source is the one dude in Portland who managed to get in line to see the Residents at Hawthorne before I did.
I was halfway through writing a follow-up post which passed on the information that they were only playing for an hour because they would be sharing the bill with Swans, who would be performing a very special acoustic set, but then I realized that he was joking.
Not to validate something that is clearly a joke but Gira said he was going on an acoustic tour this fall...
Bumbershoot tomorrow!! I am probably mostly excited 'cause I get to go to a festival with a bunch of you fuckers, which really is my favorite thing in the world. But I'm also pretty excited for Washed Out, !!!, Tegan and Sara, Mates of State, Matt and Kim and The Joy Formidable. Not to mention ALLIE FRICKING HYPERBOLE AND A HALF BROSCH. And like, 700 comedies. It's gonna be a fun couple of days.
Next Thursday, Friday and Saturday there are going to be free afternoon shows at Doug Fir with people who are playing real shows at MFNW. They've actually gotten a pretty great lineup this year, which means people will have to get there early to even get in to the place. Since I'm poor and not super busy, I'll probably go hang out at a few!

She's today and I'm sooooo excited! Saw a lot of cool shit yesterday but by far the highlights (for me) were !!! (most fun dance party in a loooong time) wandering into a comedy show to realize that horatio sanz, Tim meadows, Brian huskey and Matt Besser were all just sittin' there improvin', and watching some fierce mammal battles. Super fucking fun day, looking forward to today!
