I damn near missed Eef Barzelay in Portland this weekend, but a dream reminded me to buy tickets.

Can't blame you, 50 dollars versus 3 dollars...
If I liked Atlas Sound that much I probably would have done the same thing.

If I had the dollars I'd be attempting to attend both shows, because $50 is worth it just to see them play 'Nothing Is'.

Seattle people, just a reminder that Moderat are playing a week from today at the Nepchune! Go see them for me and then rub it in my face because I'm insanely jealous of you.

Atlas Sound last night was one of the most bizarre shows I've ever seen in my life. He played a few old songs, then talked for about 10 minutes about how he was tired of old songs, wanted to improv some new stuff, etc., told a story about smoking opium and drinking a bunch of Red Bull (event sponsored by...) before going to work photographing children with the Easter Bunny, except the Easter Bunny died because they neglected to feed it (true story!) and then he did his own rendition of a cover song that wasn't actually a cover song at all. Did I mention he was speaking with a fake British accent the entire time?? Then he asked us what we wanted to hear, and since everyone called out a different song at the same time, he played a few chords and hit all his pedals in a way that created an incredibly dense feedback loop, quickly silenced it and said "that's what you wanted to hear, and it doesn't make any fucking sense", AND THEN he actually appeased a request for 'Agoraphobia'>'Cover Me', which I thought was going to be the best part of the show, until he abruptly ripped off his wig and screamed into the microphone. Ta da.

The Red Bull was supposed to bring him back to a functioning level, but he strongly advised against mixing the two, as it "freaked out" the kids.

I just "drunk bought" tickets to see some trance button pusher tomorrow named Ummet Ozcan. What the fuck? I've heard good things about him. Never took the time to look him up though. That is pretty weird if it was at random. I still need to make it to Foundation one of these days. If I could get a good heads up next time an artist like John Digweed rolls through I'd like to try to make it. Unfortunately those shows seem to be announced with only a couple weeks notice. Edit: I got curious and went and found a set. https%3A//soundcloud.com/asot600livesets/ummet-ozcan-live-a-state-of-trance-600-denbosh-06-04-2013

Nice! I'll give that a listen today. I'm actually pretty stoked to finally check Foundation out, and the few youtube songs of his I listened to last night were pretty damn good.
