Yeah, it was kind of a joke. Its funny how excited they are for it though. I went to the Blue Scholars show at the beginning of the school year. It was alright. Not my scene either. Coolio was supposed to play, but he didn't, haha.

Yeah, fucking Coolio backed out. I was gonna bring my 40 oz and get freaky to Gangstas Paradise.

Coolio headlined a rave I went to a few years ago.
Ya, you read that correctly.

You going to springfest for Luda, yo? That's not my scene. I'd probably go if it were free like Springfest used to be, but I'm not going to pay $30 for Ludacris. No way. I'm not a student anymore so it's $30! A few years ago, I was an intern for a dreadfully corporate Top 40 radio station in Atlanta. I had free tickets to the Black Eyed Peas through the station and decided I'd take a friend of mine, since she was so into them (After their godawful performance during the Superbowl, I don't know how she's still a fan). Anyway--the strange part was that Luda OPENED for The BEP! I realize it was in the ATL and he's from ATL, but seriously? Why would Luda open for them? He was the only enjoyable part of the evening. He's a great performer. But, probs not $30 worth--but at least the Black Eyed Peas aren't tagging along.

Menomena added a show here in a couple weeks, and I won free tickets. I'm excited to see them again, although I'm curious to see how things will go without Brent.

funny you should mention menomena cause I just saw them last night. The show was pretty good but definitely a step down from the show I saw in the fall. The new keyboardist has a giant afro which is kind of cool but also distracting. Even though the new guys seemed to be getting their parts right, a lot of the songs just felt different then they had last time I saw them. I think the best example I came up with was on queen black acid the vulnerability that is on record was replaced with confidence and swagger. I think the band is in good spirits which is probably good for their future prospects but it kind of diminishes from a lot of their songs which were written out of the animosity there was in the band before brent left.
tl;dr: good songs are good songs even if the band isn't at their peak
Gayngs/doomtree/megafaun on sunday, looking forward to that show a lot

I KNEW IT. I have a sixth sense about fake Brits. This encourages me on my life-long quest to prove that Davy Jones of the Monkees is actually from the midwest. YOU GONNA GO SEE THE MONKEES AT SLEEP COUNTRY AMPHITHEATER JULY 9TH???

He's a great performer. But, probs not $30 worth--but at least the Black Eyed Peas aren't tagging along. I'm just not into hip-hop that much so it's not something that I would be interested in even if it was $10. He is probably pretty good at what he does but I just don't have any interest.

YOU GONNA GO SEE THE MONKEES AT SLEEP COUNTRY AMPHITHEATER JULY 9TH??? I totally am. This doesn't surprise me. You must have a really cool dad/mom or older siblings. I can't imagine a 20 year old who likes metal to have such a diverse taste in music, including Rush and the Monkees.

saw Gayngs last night, killer show. like 1000 bands played which was really cool. Megafaun + Justin Vernon + Ivan Howard (the rosebuds) played a weird set where it was all covers of 80's songs (tears for fears, tom petty, depeche mode). Doomtree was awesome as well although the set was awfully short.
Gayngs is gonna be weird at sasquatch, I'm having a hard time imagining them playing before like midnight

Foals, Freelance Whales and The Naked and Famous - 4/10 Deftones and Dillinger Escape Plan - 4/18 My list is awfully small right now. May go see NOFX too... probably skipping SOAD cuz it's too damn expensive.
