I skipped his set at Bumbershoot mostly due to the reviews I read here. I am a fan of electronic music myself. Maybe I should get a second opinion next time. There are horrible EDM artists, but if that review was based on your disliking EDM that kind of sucks for me. as a general rule, if you're a fan of either EDM or Kanye West, it's probably best you don't take my advice. ...in before one of you other assholes do it

Sorry Geno. I know you still love them, but what made them one of the most original and fascinating bands the metal world has ever seen was their ability to integrate those beautiful neo-classical and progressive sounds into blistering old school blackened death metal. No one ever has or likely ever will top what they were able to achieve. Mikael's unapologetic shift to this straight up Camel worship, while ditching everything else that gained them notoriety, is frankly pretty lame. It really makes me wonder if that's why he can't seem to keep a steady lineup anymore. I don't blame him for wanting to try new things as a musician, but I'm willing to bet that by the time they release their next album they will never play anything earlier than Ghost Reveries, sans the songs with harsh vocals from that album.

I'd say one electronic artist out of fifty is worth paying attention to. The worst thing most music listeners lack is the ability to discern. It's never LISTEN TO DEADMAU5!!, instead it is LISTEN TO DERPSTEP!!. Thats because so much dub sounds pretty much the same. There really is no need to mention an actual artist when you want someone to play something, because if you just say the whole genre it is much more likely they will have something. I made that same statement to my friend a while ago and if you actually ask dub fans what artists they like, most of them know, but when they are trying to get people to listen to it they just used the blanket term because they figure people havent heard of the artists.

Your friend is an idiot. Plus dub is different then derpstep. I'll admit most edm fans right now are delusional and rahtarded, shit even I use to be one not too long ago (look at my username...) but not all edm fans are idiots who listen to skrillex.

I never said my friend was smart. He does sort of have a point though. We all know what dubstep is because we are music nerds, but there are still a shit ton of people out there who dont. And that statement was made probably 6 months ago when dubstep was slightly less known as a whole.
And yeah, dub is different than dubstep I was just trying to write fast and figuered everyone would know what I was talking about in that context.

I don't think they're going to stop playing their heavier songs. Apparently this tour is just kind of an "experiment". Also, they've been playing The Drapery Falls in the last few shows. Fuck yeah.

Just got tickets to the "Cemetery of Sound" on the 28th at the Big Four. Bunch of mediocre DJ's spinning a big Halloween party. Ha ha, raver girls in Halloween costumes? CAN'T WAIT.
