Just purchased tickets to see SLAYER with Testament and Carcass at Macewan Hall in Calgary. Taking my mom as part of her Christmas present! Your mom sounds awesome. Yesterday The Wild Buffalo (Bellingham music venue....300 people capacity I am guessing) announced a Snoop Dogg show. Pounced on tix and I don't think I could be any more stoked. A bit expensive ($75 each) but I am a huge dork for Snoop and his show at Life Is Beautiful was insanely good. 12/21 is going to be one for the record books.

She's always saying that she wants to see a metal show, but nothing too extreme. Slayer seemed like a good bet for her. I haven't seen them in probably 15 years so I'm stoked.

My metal head buddy wants to drive to see the Cannibal Corpse/Obituary/Cryptopsy/Abysmal Dawn tour. Since Animal Collectives tour lands right next to it, I am going to take advantage. I have to make my friend expand his horizons a little since he is one of the only friends I have that still goes to shows regularly. I am back and forth between Seattle and Portland.
Animal Collective 3/4 Nepchune Cannibal Corpse 3/5 El Corazon
or
Cannibal Corpse 3/3 Hawthorne Theater Animal Collective 3/5 Roseland Theater
Does anybody want to debate on the quality of the venues to help me decide? I wasn't really impressed with the Roseland last time I went, and have heard the Hawthorne was horrible, but has improved.

The others are pretty much equally disappointing.

The Neptune is my 2nd favorite venue in Seattle, while the Hawthorne and Roseland are my two least favorite venues in Portland. Todd Barry's El Corazon is decent.

I love metal shows at El Corazon. It's just so small and grimy. It's not what I'd call a nice venue by any stretch of the imagination, but it is very metal. It would be a great place to see Cannibal Corpse.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I was thinking about going to Seattle from the start, but I slept on it too long, and Animal Collective at the Neptune sold out, so if I am going it will probably be Portland. Hopefully the Portland show doesn't sell out too soon, because if the Sasquatch lineup is really going to be here in a week, I am going to hold out on anything until I see that.
