Not sure if anyone has seen Supersuckers before but they do a fake encore for evry show and it's pretty funny. They basically stand there, tell everyone how shitty and pointless encores are, say goodnight, say thanks immediately after that...and start playing again. Fucking Sweet! I have seen them before. It was pretty awesome, and the very last time I got to go to the now demolished building that was Richards on Richards.

Well I guess I won't even bother checking it out. It's not as bad as Switch is making it out to be. It's just not as good as Menos El Oso or Highly Refined Pirates. The little more produced sound just takes some getting used to and they were also going for a more 80's pop sound with this record. In a nutshell, they were trying to be more accessable. I could go on and on... Regardless, they are already working on new tunes! So go see them! P.S. ALL the songs (bar the last) are better than "My Time"! Check out "Into The Mirror","Excuses" and "Dayglow Vista Rd."

Ok, I don't get what happened here. Highly Refined Pirates is a great album. One of my favorites.

Alright fine, this thread will do an encore.
To be a bit clearer, when I hear the phrase "Highly Refined Pirates" I think of Biffy Clyro (I do not know this album. Maybe I should check it out.)

Richards on Richards was supposedly a great venue. The only venues I've been to in Vancouver were the Vogue, where I saw A Perfect Circle and then I saw the R.E.M./Radiohead show the next two nights at Thunderbird Stadium. The Vogue was really amazing, Thunderbird was alright.

We keep saying "Highly Refined Pirates" like it's not ridiculous, what's that about?

To be fair, any early minus the bear title is ridiculous.
"hey, is that a ninja up there?" "I'm totally not down with rob's alien" "Thanks for the killer game of Crisco Twister" "Absinthe party at the fly honey warehouse"

That main dude totally resembles Jake Snider! Maybe thats why I'm trying to like Biffy so bad. Lol. Highly Refined Pirates is MTB's best album IMO. Also (fun fact) this is the album where the title to every song is named after a quote from the movie "Starship Troopers"

being a minus the bear fan is a lot like being in an abusive relationship. They were my friends favorite band for a long time and it was difficult to watch. Highly refined pirates and planet of ice are pretty great though

They make beer commercials like this is also great, and menos el oso has its moments for sure.

I was living on the island that summer. That show happened the week before I moved home.

Their live shows are really hit or miss though. I saw them with thursday at el corazon some years ago and I remember them telling the crowd to stop having so much fun cause it was a cancer benefit

Once I bought a laptop off Craigslist and when I went to pick it up it ended up being the guitarist from Minus the Bear selling it. I have never heard of the band at the time (and I hardly know them now) but he was really nice and was selling it for his girlfriend. Well, I got the laptop home and it broke right away. I was all ready to make Minus the Bear my most hated band, but I called him up and he agreed to give my money back. He definitely wasn't happy about the whole situation, but shit neither was I. It ended better for me though. A few weeks later I saw them play at Endfest. I thought to myself, "this band is okay, but that guitarist fucking rocks!"
That is my story.
