I guess Portugal. The Man is doing a free show in Sellwood park, which is right in my neighborhood, on Sunday evening. It's a benefit show for Pet Aid or something, I don't know. I've never seen (or really listened to) P. the Man before. Wonk fucking loves them, which is like whatever, but my fucking doumak loves that shit too and I trust that guy implicitly.

Widespread Panic tomorrow. I have never been super impressed with their recorded music, but since they have such a big live following, I thought I should check them out while they are in the area, and see what the hype is about.

It's totally a toss up whether you'll like them. They're a poppier version of a lot of things you like so who knows. Free is free though.

I was kidding; I'm totally going. Real-life wonk is such a fuckin' teddy bear, he goes to shows all the time based solely on the fact that I Gramma out about them. I reckon he sees a lot of shit that he wouldn't bother to otherwise because he seems to have some unexplainable respect for my taste in music. So when wonk wonks out about a band, I do everything in my power to check it out.
Solidarity.

Haha, fair enough. I'm just saying there is a legit chance you'll actually like them.

Portugal. the Man covered Helter Skelter and Hey Jude at Bonnaroo the night after Paul McCartney headlined, and you know, like, played the real deal. So, there's that.

So they've got about 10 pounds of balls. That's cool. I tried to listen to one of their albums once and couldn't make it all the way through before I got bored and did something else instead. Don't remember if the music was actually boring or my ADD was acting up.

I got to see Big G for the first time last year at What The Fest. I went in expecting some standard material from them, I knew they had a live sax player and was excited to see what they were going to do.
Fast forward to after the set, and everyone in the crowd was just flattened by the crazy drum and bass live set they played. It was unlike anything I've ever heard of their recorded music, and it was absolutely insane. The drummer had to have been exhausted after playing drum and bass music for over an hour straight. Great show indeed.

Yeah, that was the biggest waste of money concert I've been to in recent memory. Snoop rolled up my hundred bucks and all I got was a shitty second-hand high to show for it.

10/07 This Town Needs Guns at the Crocodile with Mylets and As I Watch You From Afar.
If you're on the fence about seeing TTNG, talk to badchoices or me, we both saw them open for Tera Melos and they absolutely killed it.
