I just realized that, with everyone having a wristband this year there is no way to prove whether or not you have already entered the venue for the day. Which could only mean they FINALLY decided to give us in and out privileges!!!!!!!!!!!

Unless the wristband has a barcode.

I'm trying really hard to come up with a way you could be wrong about this... only because I don't want to get too excited...
Could there be a hole punch system on the wristband or something???

Eureka! I believe you're right, peaty! I can't believe I didn't clue into this earlier, but this is one of the biggest benefits to having a wristband system. They would have to implement some sort of additional system if they actually wanted to keep you from reentering, and this just seems like more trouble than it's worth.
It's a long enough walk that I will likely not use the reentry ability, but it is definitely nice to have. Here's hoping it's true!

Unless the wristband has a barcode. This is true. Scanned barcode equals no re-entry. Plus, they had re-entry for a fee last year the first day, apparently it didn't work.

I don't think that would really work, especially by the fourth day after all the wear and tear that will probably be on those wristbands, so I'm doubting it.

As far as wrist bands ripping and stuff, it shouldn't be an issue, I've been to a few fests that give ridiculously durable wrist bands out. They are impossible to destroy (by humans or by elements, or by elemental humans). Bonnaroo does this, though they do not scan them, but it could be done.

My sister wears concert wristbands for months after the the event. I'm sure they will be good and durable!

I've literally worn Reading Festival bands for years afterward. They're some sort of synthetic like nylon which lasts forever and is clasped together with a metal clip that is strong but disintegrates if you try and loosen it. They're also relatively comfortable, unlike those plastic ones that crack and poke you. I hope they use something like the Reading ones at this year's Sasquatch.

I've never heard of wristbands having a barcode, that seems ridiculous. And, yeah people wear them for months afterwards, but I'm sure the graphics wear off on them, even if they stay intact.

I know they can last forever, but the likelihood of the barcode graphics staying the same is pretty slim. Showers, sweat, etc. etc. would at least distort the barcode a little bit, and if they have special barcodes that don't, then they spent way too much damn money on those wristbands.

I wasn't talking just about the material itself. The whole thing, graphics and all, is indestructable.
I'm all for re-entry, just saying wear and tear on wrist bands ain't gonna be the reason they will/won't do it.

Having a barcode on a wristband and not making it water proof would make zero sense, especially if several thousands are using it for entry. The barcode on my 2009 ACL wristband is in perfect condition, and it rained the entire festival. You can laminate paper.

I scored a backstage wristband last year and it is supper durable. I have been wearing it since last year. It is cloth so it couldn't have a barcode. Cloth wristbands might be to expensive to do for everyone.
