Assuming everything works out well with the all-inclusive camping this year, I think Sasquatch really has the right idea going on. Coachella attendees are absolutely losing their shit right now because camping is completely sold out but festival tickets are still for sale. The result of asshole scalpers, people going just to party and not attend the fest, and overall poor planning on the organizer's end. I love that Sasquatch took the initiative to keep non-festival attendees out of the property. The Sasquatch people get it. It's just as much about the experience as it is the lineup. On a similar note, I'm glad the Gorge has a very limited capacity (compared to the big three fests). Squatch will never have the problems Coachella is facing right now.

It's had those problems in the past. Not last year but I think the year before that camping passes sold out and people flipped; they had to open a whole other part of that huge cow pasture to make room for people (but at least they had that option).

I was one of the people in said pasture and it was fucking miserable. We showed up late on Saturday and got stuck right near the entrance where all of the day parkers drove by and constantly stirred up a giant dust cloud. We practically had dust caked in our teeth by the end of the weekend.

The only thing I'm confused about is how much space you get with the camping.. Do you get one camp site per car? Or do you get one per person? That's the problem with selling them like they are. Technically, since EACH ticket comes with camping access, EACH person should get that the specified space.. so if you have a group of 10, you would take up 10x as much room as a group of one. Which makes sense, but it's not really practical. I guess we'll see. I don't really care either way. I'm not picky.

I never really thought of that. However, two years, any "space" we were supposed to get was pretty much ignored. Since me and my friends accidentally both both camping tickets for 1 RV, we should have had plenty of space, but our neighbors kinda encroached on our space (which was completely cool with us, though).
So basically, even if you do get set space per person or car, it won't really be applicable. It is instead all about your finesse with your neighbors.

I can 100% promise you that camping this year will not be the clusterfuck it was 2 years ago or the sardine can it was last year. There won't be anyone in the campground that won't also be in the festival so they SHOULD have an exact number of campers in mind and SHOULD plan the campground organizing accordingly. Ah hell, there's no 100% guarantees here, nevermind.

does anyone know how space will be allotted on this new per person camping pass system. (okay so i realize that this question was already asked, but the reply was basically "it doesn't matter because you don't end up getting that much space anyway", however, they can't just open up the campground and let it be a free-for-all... there has to be some standards.)

You'd be surprised how there isn't really a standard. They don't have spots marked off like I've seen at coachella in the past, so it's not that organized... Basically you fight for what you can get. If you have a car with 2 people in it, I'm willing to bet you will get the same amount of space as a car with 4 ppl, unless the car with 4 ppl bitches to get more space.

No really, it's basically an organized free-for-all. they basically just have you park each car evenly and tightly then you fit in tents around that as you can.

Then again, we are overlooking the point Peatrick made above. This year, you can't camp without a ticket to the festival. Last year they had to fit 35,000 campers in a camp site made for 20,000. It's no wonder they crammed everyone in. This year, they should give much more space.

And if you find yourself falling victim to scary threatening LiveNation man that says he will have your car towed if you don't move it closer to the next parked car, just scream "NO!!!" enough times at him and he will eventually move on.
