I looked on their Wiki page and it doesn’t list them on Relapse. Their tour manager was rocking a Relapse hat though.

Yup. That Paul McCartney show was pretty damn spectacular. I was never too big on Wings, but Live and Let Die ended up being my favorite song of the night. The sky was exploding with fireworks and flames.
Oh, and Nirvana - Kurt Cobain + Paul McCartney happened for the encores. Seeing Dave Grohl and Paul jam out during Helter Skelter was seriously awesome.

Capitol Hill Block Party destroyed me.
Friday was a blast. Started out with Radiation City. Very pretty music that sounds very large. The vocals reminded me of Beach House and the vibe was very dreamy. After that we saw Deadkill tear shit to pieces. They are my favorite punk band around and I can’t wait for their full length to come out within the next year. The singer gets award for craziest eyes of the festival. Danny Brown was next. He was less fucked up than he was at Sasquatch. Tons of weed getting smoked by the entire block it felt like. He is so much fun. Loved it. One of my favorite sets of the weekend was Monogamy Party after Danny Brown. It was in the Cha Cha and it felt like a sauna. They sounded so fucking good and Kennedy (the lead singer) is such a good front man. He got that entire place rowdy as fuck. After that I walked to Neumos and saw some of Grave Babies. I liked what I saw. I didn’t like their recorded material but the live show sounded really good. Goth/punk/rock blend and the dude’s voice sounds great. Secret Colors in Barboza was a little bit of a snooze fest after the shows I had been going to. It was one guy looping noise with no emotion what so ever. He looked like it was his first time out of the basement. Constant Lovers is such a good band. Seattle folk that don’t know these guys need to get out and see one of their shows. They play all over the city pretty frequently. Daughn Gibson was the final show of the day. He was pretty good but I was too tired to stay for more than a couple of songs.
Saturday was the party of all parties. I saw Survival Knife->Big Freedia->Killer Mike + El-P ->Gaytheist -> Dog Shredder -> After Party: Qui -> Rabbits -> Helms Alee. I saw snippets of other shows in between but that was a hell of a day. Big Freedia was so much fun. I shook my ass to the point of embarrassment and I hope that nobody has any video! Jewels were ran big time by Killer Mike and El-P. The after party at Black Lodge was out of control good. Rabbits played an earlier show in the CHBP and I saw the lead singer drinking at 1PM in the event. He was so fucked up (but still could sing and play) and that set was brutal. He got pissed at the band because he wanted to play 3 more songs but the allotted time was up. He was falling into speakers but somehow still able to play his chunes.
Sunday was going to be a long and enjoyable day but then Saturday’s hangover was too powerful. I made it in for Sandrider at 2:15 and then we took off. Sandrider was the best show of the weekend in my opinion.
Overall, Block Party was a blast. If I was under 21 I wouldn’t go because you would only get to go to the main stage and the vera stage. The club shows were all the best.

Phish was incredible. The first night they shredded my face completely off. The second night they got so down and so funky. I saw the best confetti of my life. Page played like 14 keyboards at once. Trey's claw hands played every guitar note. John has the best drum face of life. Mike slapped that bass around. I found loads of interesting garbage. A Phish show has its own laws and it was so crazy to not see a single yellow or blue shirt while watching the show. The gorge was on actual fire and it was the most insane thing I have ever seen. Let's do it again tomorrow.

After moving here, I heard a lot of negative things about Block Party and wasn't planning on going until a pass fell into my lap last minute. Needless to say, I had an absolute blast. Good tunes, good neighborhood, and all the people there who I randomly met were kind and having a good time.
Highlights:
Kicking it with ILLFIGHTYOU at the Jarv Dee show for a bit. Love me some PNW hiphop.
The people in the window throwing Otter Pops out the window on Saturday.
The motherfucking weather.
Odezsa. Those two really had me grooving and I loved their afternoon set.
Security was extremely courteous, laidback, and efficient at the same time. I don't mind them being so thorough with the bag checks (bars and vendors gotta get their cut afterall) so long as they're joking with me as I wait and they let my pipe and herb go unnoticed.
Everyone who I me this weekend! I'm about 6 months into living here now and each day I'm loving it more and more!

Damn dude wish i had your digits man! I was there all weekend. Sorry to hear that you didnt enjoy Secret Colors...i work with that guy! Here's a brief writeup I wrote on r/Seattle about my weekend at the Block Party PM! Next time we will meet up for a show when I am down there. To be fair to Secret Colors, I was seeing him perform after two very energetic sets that left me sweaty (Danny Brown and Monogamy Party). I did walk up to the front in the beginning of Secret Colors and he is very talented at looping those sounds. It was much better if you could see what he was actually doing with his hands and feet. At Barboza, the back of the venue doesn’t have good visibility and we were at a booth towards the back for the last 20 minutes of his set. When you can’t see it it doesn’t sound as impressive. I guess he was kind of like Atlas Sound but instead of guitar and pedal and vocal it was pedal and whatever the machine with the knobs on it is called

Almost everyone I saw was really nice and cool. There was a filthy, sketchy hippie contingent, but overall a really positive vibe. We did see two dogs in the venue and that was insane. There are a million in the campground but somehow these two wasted guys got them into the venue. Also, lots and lots of children. Wonk almost killed them. Oh, and Burrito's bed got peed in by some dude named Ben.

Alright, alright. I need to have a fangirl moment here.
Last night at Block Party the craziest thing happened. Earlier in the day I "Tweeted" The Flaming Lips and requested that they play One More Robot/Sympathy3000-21 (which they almost never play). I explained that it was my 10th Flaming Lips show and included a picture of me in my weirdo face make-up and Flaming Lips T-shirt. They "re-tweeted" me, so I know they read my tweet, which in itself was pretty cool. At the beginning of this tour they played One More Robot a few times overseas but they had not played it since May. Then, mid-way through the show and in between songs, I hear a voice (pretty sure it was Steven Drozd) come through the speakers and say, "Chelsea, we know you're out there and this is for you". My ears perked at the sound of my name and I was so overwhelmed and shocked (and high) that I almost second guessed myself but Burrito/Matt/Megan said that's what it sounded like to them as well! They went on to play DEVO's Gates of Steel and said a few words about why it's important for the weirdos in the world not to give a fuck about what everyone else thinks, then went into One More Robot/Sympathy3000-21. IT WAS SO FUCKING COOL!!! The song sounded incredible live and it was deeply satisfying.
The show was slow to pick up, mostly because the sun didn't set until 9:30, so the first half of the show was in broad daylight which is the exact opposite of how it was intended to be viewed. But, as it got darker it just got better and better. One of my favorite setlists of the 10 shows I've been to, it was really nice to see 'em switch it up a bit. Of the new stuff, I'm a sucker for Try to Explain so I really enjoyed that one but Turning Violent was by far my favorite thing they played from "The Terror"- super sexy! I maintain that Steven should just start signing all the songs after seeing that one live. As always, A Spoonfull Weighs A Ton and All We Have Is Now were fantastic and as cheesy as it sounds the stripped down sing-along version of Do You Realize was actually quite touching without all the whistles and bells.

Nadine, that is really awesome that they played your song and that it was a good show.
I forgot to mention that we ran into Older and Younger Switch at Phish. It was pretty sweet. I saw Younger Switch in the pit in between sets and I have never seen him so excited and happy to see me. It looked like he was having a great Phish show.

What The Festival was amazing. The music was top notch - Machinedrum played a surprise pool party set and played only jungle music, Worthy/J.Phlip/Claude VonStroke absolutely killed it sunday night, among many other highlights. They have an awesome interactive art portion of the festival that's on this winding trail through the woods, you can wander around at night and get lost in weird colored trees and huge sculptures and tea gardens. The pool party was crazy again this year. When you put a pool in front of a stage and let people play music for 6 hours straight in the 85 degree sun, things are bound to get weird! Also on several days, people brought huge coolers full of snow and we had a big snowball Dr. Garbanzoht at the pool. All food is local Portland restaurants/food carts so everything is delicious and not at inflated festival prices. There was a giant disco ball, about 25 feet tall. There was an enormous luminescent dinosaur puppet that people would walk around to different stages and poke its head all over the crowd. There was a metric shit-ton of dust and everything I own is now thoroughly coated in it, including my lungs.
All in all, amazing. I slept for 14 hours straight right when I got home yesterday, and woke up this morning feeling slightly refreshed. I hope I can make my way back to the real world sometime today!

I also met some people who were at both days of Phish, then made their way down to the last day of WTF after finding some free wristbands from an artist heading out of the festival. That is a LOT of driving and partying.
