Add Monday, make Paul the headliner, give every act a 15 piece band.

Best show I’ve seen since Deerhunter in 2011.

Eartheater just usurped both Byrne and MBV for the best show this year. Holy fuck.

Crowd: *yelling out Pavement song titles* Stoophie "The Malk" Marmalard: "WE DON'T FUCKING PLAY THOSE SONGS ANYMORE!" *immediately plays "Stereo" into "Shady Lane"* That was the best Malkmus show I've seen in a decade. Legendary. These past few weeks have been pretty fire for shows. Hope autumn follows suit!

Just noticed that setlist is missing "Malediction." He really went deep on Face the Truth.

Jack White at WaMu was solid last night. He had a no-phone policy and everyone had to put their phones in some sealed bag upon entry, and holy shit it was great to go to a show without phones (except the one jackass in front of me who snuck his past, fuck that guy). I'm glad I finally got to see him even though I was exhausted from spending 9 hours on planes yesterday.

I very much hated everything about the Jack White show in Vancouver other than hearing Icky Thump and Seven Nation Army. He had good energy, but I just couldn't stand how muddy everything sounded and his vocals. I think it was just me though since everyone around me seemed to enjoy it fine.

I am still sore after that Luke Vibert set. I don't think I've danced that hard since Aphex Twin. Started off nice and funky in the classic Vibert style and then took a turn around half an hour in into some seriously deep acid, and closed his 1.5-hour set with AFX's "Digeridoo." Fucking phenomenal - and I hadn't realized he hadn't played since 2003. Got to meet him both before and after the show, incredibly nice dude.

That Barboza set last night is probably the best Emma Ruth Rundle has ever sounded - almost perfect balance across the board, although a mic feedback issue led to Evan not being able to do the duet for "Light Song." Overall, a top-tier way to start winter break, and if that's the last show of the year for me, I'm okay with it.

Marissa Nadler fucking decimated the Sunset tonight. Everyone forever should feel sad about missing it because I know none of you chucklefucks were there. She is a goddess among men.

Hit Butt Prom at the Southgate Roller Rink last night. Gotta say, Baywitch and Velvet Q are two of the best active Seattle bands active these days, and I’m not just saying that because I’ve worked with them. Velvet Q is playing their last show before their drummer goes on hiatus on Thursday at the Crocodile, and I would recommend that event to anyone here. Great stuff.

Highlights of Terrforfest Day 1 were Dead to a Dying World, which was my most anticipated set, and Dawn Ray'd, who I'd never heard of before. Guitar, drums, and a vocalist who alternates between guttural screaming and playing crazy violin solos. Yeah, absolutely my shit. Massive sounds from a 3-piece.

Finally got “Real Big Sky” live. Emma Ruth Rundle (and Neumos) has never sounded better, even in an opening slot. Forever my queen.

Drugdealer at Sunset Tavern last night was SO GOOD. Felt like I was transported to a simpler time. The lead singer nailed Weyes Blood's verses. Donny Benet opened too which was a treat. Monday night fun!

Vampire Weekend was fucking incredible. I wasn't a huge fan going into it, but I heard good things about their live show and they totally exceeded my expectations. They played their new stuff pretty faithfully and really jammed out on the old stuff, and it was a blast the whole time.

Blanck Mass just destroyed Chop Suey. Big ups to Helm and Steve Hauschildt for their sweet drones, but Ben is unparalleled when it comes to industrial noise rave music. Shout out to the girl in the front center stage who had some of the most emphatic dance moves I’ve ever seen - and also occasionally was just staring ahead slackjawed. You’re my hero, I wish I had been tripping as hard as you for this one. Completely blown away, what a set.
Pharmakon on Thursday. Working the Lisa Prank show on Friday. Finally got all moved in to the new apt yesterday. This month is off to a good start.
