I love that American Dad did an entire episode about My Morning Jacket and Jim James.

All I could think while reading that story was of all the glorious hair involved.

God damn that Neutral Milk Hotel show for being so perfect. Now I'm even sadder that they won't be at Sasquatch.

I know I'm just being greedy because I got to see them at The Nepchune, which was unbelievable. But... AT.THE.GORGE. My god, I can't even imagine how cathartic that would have been. *sigh*

PS- I meant cathartic in the spiritual sense, not the shitting yourself sense. But I did message Stormy earlier to tell her she was probably going to poop her pants in excitement, so I guess both work.

Julian Koster has SO MUCH STYLE when he's slappin' dat bass. And singing dat saw, and squeezing dat accordion, and twerkin' dat banjo.
And Jeff is rocking a MAGNUM BEARD, it's super sexy.

Julian has got to be around 40 now and he doesn't look or act a day over 23. He is a saw wizard.

The fucking Crystal Ballroom, though. It was nine hundred degrees in there, as always, and as always there were outrageous sound issues throughout the entire show. Jeff's guitar cut out entirely for 90% of 'Two-Headed Boy'; some tech kept trying to fix it, but eventually Jeff just signaled to him to let it go. He just kept playing, and so it ended up being just this huge singalong that segued perfectly into 'The Fool'. Incompetence at its finest, on the Crystal's part, but the effect was very powerful and moving. Made me glad I went to the second night.
Jeremy Barnes' part in 'Ghost' was one of the highlights of my entire fucking life. Also that. Also: what the fuck is up with stupid, stupid children MOSHING to Neutral Milk Hotel...?

Jeremy Barnes on drums is quite a thing. I was so impressed by everyone at all times but that was a really stellar drum performance. Then he got up and played the squeeze box. And, seriously, Julian looks like he is about 19 years old and he is so full of energy and sounds. Also, that beard was pretty fucking awesome.

The final song of the show in Vancouver saw Jeremy hit the last cymbal so hard the drumstick shattered in half and ejected into the crowd.
