Sorry I didn't answer about the length until now but Burrito had it covered.
Burrito, you got a stick and Spit?! Haha, crazy. That show was really fucking awesome but I am just now starting to feel recovered from it. I ended up going to sleep at 4AM that night and had to be at work by 8AM. I was making....bad choices...that night. Oh well, it was worth it. Mother fucking death grips

So Death Grips pressed play, then one guy ran around stage yelling at everyone doing the Dick Valentine arm wave, and another guy literally thrashed the fuck out of the drums. I loved the drummer.
One of the strangest crowds I've seen.

I'm interested to hear HG's sober opinion of the show, since he recently stated a band of multi-instrumentalists "suck live" while Death Grips only played one instrument (the drums). Actually, the play button should be considered an instrument these days, right EDM kids?
HG also compared the stage presence of Stefan Burnett to that of Bruce Springsteen. Knowledge should be spat.

I haven't seen Springsteen or anything, but I would say that's a fair assessment.

I stand by my statement that the show was just ok.

And I stand by everything that I said as well. I saw something I ain't never seen before that night. For one thing: Zach Hill, who is worth five of any one of the members in Menomena. And I didn't compare MC Ride's stage presence to Bruce Springsteen, what I said was that having seen both that week I was more impressed by MC Ride's stage presence. Springsteen is a great performer; he's probably twice that dude's age and he played for three times as long. Springsteen gave it all he's got, for sure, and it was amazing. But MC Ride gave it all HE'S got as well, and it's fair to say that being a much younger man who is on a tremendous amount of crack cocaine he's just got a lot more to give at this point in time.

Whatever, dude. I was terrified and amazed by those two men. Insane motherfuckers. I loved the hell out of it and was really glad all of us got to go.

So how was the Surfjohn Christmas Blowout? Aren't you seeing it in three days? Don't you want to be surprised?

So how was the Surfjohn Christmas Blowout? Aren't you seeing it in three days? Don't you want to be surprised? Good call. I guess it doesn't matter what anyone says as I have tickets and am going to see it on Sunday. Nevermind. I don't want to know how it was. I will be my own judge. The fact that I instantly asked the question without thinking about it must mean that deep down inside I actually don't like surprises. You learn something new about yourself every day.

I'm supposed to be writing the final draft of an essay which I wrote about spending a day at the children's hospital here in Portland for my creative non-fiction writing class, but I am seriously considering paraphrasing everything that I've said in my previous three drafts in a paragraph or two and then re-directing the piece to fit the title 'Why the Surfjohn Stevens Christmas Sing-A-Long Seasonal Affective Disorder Yuletide Disaster Pageant on Ice is the Greatest Thing I Have Ever Seen'.
Don't ask me how, but I really think it might work.

That was how he introduced the show last night. Considering the performance that followed and the complete lack of ice in Portland at the moment, it was certainly fitting.
