Calvin Harris was a ridiculous amount of fun (you can tell by my bruised feet), but I dont know anyone who wasn't at least a little bummed he played nothing from I Created Disco. Hmmph.

For anyone lurking this post, PAY ATTENTION TO SET TIMES.
Aaron Freeman was a lot of fun tonight. Before I bought a ticket, I didn't realize he would play Ween songs at all, but over half of his set was Ween. I was tickled when he played "Your Party" which is one of my favorite Ween songs. The show started at 9:01 (doors at 8), which is a couple hours before headliners typically play at that venue. Stormy/Gramma and I wandered up to the front of the stage at around 8:50, while fifty or so people were sitting down or getting drinks. The place was empty. After about five songs, I thought about getting another beer, only to see the crowd behind us was packed.
After the first set ended, I walked outside to get some fresh air. People were showing up saying they had Will Call tickets, and the bouncer told them the encore is happening now. Even though the box office was closed, I think they were allowed in, because I had a couple females ask me during the encore, "Did they play any Ween songs?"
My only regret was assuming he would come back out and play a second encore, so I could yell, "PLAY FREEBIRD." That's his fault for playing "Stairway to Heaven," for more than a minute. He deserved a "FREEBIRD" heckle.

Setlist was, like, 90% Ween songs. He played two, maybe three tracks off of Marvelous Clouds. He looked great, sounded great, the crowd was fucking eating that shit right out the palm of his fucking hand, and he played Right to the Ways and the Rules of the God Damn World.

BURRITO! All that talk in the upcoming shows thread about Thee Oh Sees bein' 'bout to go on, then you didn't say how the show was! Dish it, brah! DUDE! They were Thee fuckin' Oh Sees; I loved every minute of it. I drank all that coffee and then got tossed the fuck around and ended up along the barricade right in front of John and the drums. His amp was all up in my face and by the end I had no more face. What more could I ask for? Maybe my face back, but it's Thee Oh fuckin' Sees and they don't do givesie backsies on faces. Important highlight: Lupine. Fucking. Dominus. That's specifically where my face left me.

If Bosnian Rainbows (OMAR) are coming to your town you must go. That show was mind melting. Terri is just as captivating as Omar is. Deantoni drums and keyboards at the same time. It might be one of my favorite shows I have been to.

A video of Gener playing 'I Don't Wanna Leave You on the Farm' at the Doug Fir popped up on Youtube; video and sound quality is pretty great. I talked to a guy right before the show who had cameras in two or three places around the room, including one on a tripod front and center where I was standing, and he asked me to keep an eye on his gear so that nobody fucked up the angle or stole it or anything.
Anyway, I dipped my toe into the cesspool of Youtube comments to ask the guy who posted it to hook us up with video of 'Right to the Ways' from that night; he responded with PLEASE hook us up with 'Right to the Ways' would be a lot nicer. So I told him that I was SOOOO sorry for forgetting to use the magic word and that I was the guy watching his rig and you're welcome and go fuck your mother, etc. etc., standard Youtube comment bullshit (I swear I never do this, I was drunk).
Anyway, long story short-ish, he sent me an email apologizing for being a cock and thanking me for keeping an eye on his shit and told me that he's working on editing a DVD of the whole show and said that I can have one when it's done.
So, what did I learn from this? Rolling around in the shit of Youtube comments = free Gener DVDs? I dunno, but I am excite.

All the subtle things in that song are what make me happy.

Just played a last minute show last night opening for Woods. I'm usually not much for folky stuff, but they had just enough psych-goodness to make me love them. Their last song was a 10-minute Oh Sees type jam. Anybody else ever seen them? I am a new fan. Too bad there was only about 20-30 people there last night meaning they will probably never come to Charleston again.

Woods are definitely great, I was too tired to make it to their show here a couple weeks back and I'm still sad about it. I caught them at a festival last year and was kind of underwhelmed by their show but wanted to give them another chance cause of how much I love their records.

Matt and Kim. Those two could seriously start a business where people just pay them to attend events and their amazingly contagious good mood would rub off on everyone in the crowd. Either that or those confetti cannons were filled with MDMA. So much fucking fun. Even better than their Sasquatch set, which I thought was amazing.

I know the first one is Debbie Downer, but I haven't watched SNL since Tina Fey left so I have no idea who any of Kristen Wiig's characters are.
I'll just take it as an insult and head to the bar.
